I received a copy of this book to review from Netgalley. Thank you for the opportunity.
This is an interesting and informative book on Canada. The layout was engaging and allowed for easy navigation of the book. I particularly enjoyed the crafting of short anecdotes of information which were longer than a forgettable quick fact without becoming an uninteresting length. This appropriate length keeps the readers attention and I think allows for better retention of the information.
The writing is excellent with historical knowledge woven into relatable quips, adding to the relatability of the book.
This book would be a welcome addition to any bookshelf.
This book is full of trivia concerning Canada, and it makes you realize how little you know about our Northern neighbors. There is lots of details about the indigenous people and their contributions such as the kayak and the canoe. This book would be a good gift for older child that is an avid reader or someone planning a trip to Canada.
I received a complimentary copy of this title from the publisher through NetGalley. Opinions expressed are my own.
I LOVE this book!
I am (unfortunately) an American. But I've always been interested in Canada. I was so excited when I got this one!
This book is a lot of fun, but also actually interesting and informative. It mainly follows an A-Z (or "Eh to Zed") format and each of them rhyme, which is so cute. There's lots of plaid and everything you'd stereotypically expect from Canada. But it's also got some really good actual information in it beyond everyone's stereotype of "eh, I'm sorry for my moose."
I realize this book is probably pretty niche, but I highly recommend at least flipping through it if you're at all interested in Canada!
Another non-fiction read but one that is far less macabre! I would love to visit Canada in the future but it is a country that I know very little about besides the stereotypes and the general places I'd love to visit so this book was a great read that was packed full of information, facts and statistics about Canada. From it's ancient history, nature, wildlife, geography and indigenous communities to the influence of Britain and France, politics, influential figures, Canadian inventions and cultural entertainment, there's no stone left unturned.
I love the presentation of the information, the layout of the book and all of the gorgeous illustrations throughout it as well as the diagrams, recipes and quizzes. The amount of information included in this book is a little overwhelming so I think I'll have to purchase the book as it was definitely too much information to consume in one read. If you are interested in the history and culture of Canada then I cannot recommend this read enough.
All 'Bout Canada is packed full of interesting facts about, you guessed it,. Canada. I actually read through this with my 4th grader for school and it kept both of our attention! I liked the illustrations and the little Canada themed rhymes a lot, and the color scheme was gorgeous.
The facts in this book are so diverse, from famous political figures and musicians, to historical events, to wildlife and nature, to materials, and so on. I never found it monotonous. I will be buying this book in print because my son and I loved it so much!
Thanks to Nimbus Publishing, and NetGalley for the advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
