Description

Purpose, Passion, and Pajamas is the story of Genevieve Piturro’s triumphant leap off the corporate ladder to find her life’s true calling. What started with a simple question from a little girl led Genevieve to conceive of and build the nonprofit Pajama Program in 2001, resulting in a featured appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show and an awe-inspiring display of compassion throughout the US and beyond. Today, Pajama Program has distributed over seven million pairs of pajamas, opened 63 chapters across the US, and established reading centers for children.

In her inspirational narrative, Genevieve Piturro shows you how to

• notice and listen to the quiet, internal voice nudging you in a new direction;

• lead with empathy, passion, and purpose;

• realize the importance of the human connection we’ve lost in our modern world.

Purpose, Passion, and Pajamas brings you to the heart of the matter with eye-opening lessons in leadership, personal growth, and the tools and motivation to “find your pajamas.”

Reading how the Pajama Program came to be was both inspiring and challenging. What seemed like such a little thing, a gesture most people never think of made such impact in the lives of children and staff at shelters in America. It was also challenging because in Genevieve sharing her relationship with Demo, it was clear that we are often so caught up in our lives that we barely live it. We rush to acquire stuff and never stop to appreciate the little things and in March 2020, Covid-19 decided to make us pause and reflect and question our way of life in its own unexpected way.
I love when she shared in the book that "Leadership is measured not by how much you advance but by how much you advance others." It was such a simple statement but the weight of truth in it has me reevaluating what impact I am having in other people's lives. Thanks Netgalley for the eARC.

An inspirational story for anyone looking to start their own business. I really appreciated how transparent Piturro was in sharing how she built her company while also being in corporate and the struggle she had to balance both aspects of her life. I faced a similar dilemma myself when I worked full time while juggling my freelance career, feeling guilty if a client called during work hours or scrambling to keep up with two professional inboxes, or else having to work 24/7. A rare 'how I did it' story without coming off as self-serving or over glamorizing the hustle it takes to start your own business.
