My Review:

Wow, wow, wow, this book had me guessing all the way to the end!!!!! This is the first book I read by Jackie Walsh and it will definitely not be my last. This is a stand alone and not part of a series.

This book was about secrets that would not stay hidden. A young woman murdered, a new mother who’s husband is accused of that murder and a woman’s quest to find out the truth, what comes next? Who really murdered this woman? Was it an accident or was it something more sinister than that? What secrets will be revealed? What happens after all is revealed?

I want to start off by saying I really loved this book and will continue to read all this authors books in the future. I loved the way all the characters were written and loved how they all meshed well together. All the characters had a secret and I loved the way it all came out in the end and how it affected them going forward. Now on to the plot. Who doesn’t love a good murder mystery? You say murder and I say how high. I can’t get enough of it. Oh and that ending. Omg, I couldn’t believe it. Endings are always my favorite and I love to be surprised. Boy this ending had it all. I was shocked!!!!! I raced through this book and couldn’t put it down until I found out that whopper of an ending.

Between the plot, characters and all the twists in this book it made it an easy and fast read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

OMG I could not put this book down.
Five Little Words...........Five Little Words that burst Laura’s happy little bubble.
Laura has met, married and had a beautiful baby boy with Conor, the most eligible bachelor in Ireland. On the day they bring their baby home from hospital, mixed in with the congratulations cards is a note - Your Husband is a Murderer!
The village is still reeling from the unsolved murder of local girl Vicky and now someone is suggesting that it was Conor!
This book has so many twists, turns and secrets and sucks you in from the very first chapter. I’m usually pretty good at figuring out plot twists but this one had me changing my mind constantly and I did not see the ending coming.
I will definitely be keeping my eyes and ears open for more books by this author.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for gifting me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A fabulously written "who dun it" book set in Ireland that kept me on pins and needles until the very end. Who would she choose to "save" and how much would it cost her? The internal struggle of Laura was fascinating to experience. This book was exceptional in it's development of the characters to such an extent that I could find myself relating to each one in some way while I was reading. Five Little Words - that's all it takes sometimes to change someone's life. Words are more powerful than we think - they can build up or they can easily destroy. Let's choose our words carefully. 😉 And readers....I would definitely CHOOSE to read this book. You will love it! 😁 Happy Reading!

5/5 stars.
I really enjoyed this book and I managed to read it within 24hours. I was hooked and instantly wanted to know if Laura's Husband, Conor was a murderer.
I warmed to Laura's character. All in all a really good book, quick and thrilling. I wanted to read and find out more and more about Laura's past and who killed Vicky. Enjoyed the short chapters and I didn't feel like any parts were dragged out.

Look forward to any future books from Jackie Walsh.

This is my first read by this author but proved to be an exciting one with some very good characters.
A fairly straight forward plot but one that keeps the pages turning rapidly. The book starts with new mother Laura Caldwell opening congratulation cards that have arrived at her house. Nothing unusual there until she reads one card that is completely unexpected. The card states five words 'your husband is a murderer'. Although Laura can't believe that her loving husband Conor is responsible for the murder of the local barmaid it still raises enough concerns in her mind to avoid speaking to him about it.

Laura wants to know more about her husband but she has secrets of her own that she is keen to remain buried. But while Laura fights to discover the truth about her husband, she’s also holding dark secrets of her own; secrets she’s spent years trying to hide. Who sent the card and why? Both Laura and Conor have secrets in their past but could those secrets destroy what they have together. Lots of twists and turns in the very good fast read.
I would like to thank both Netgalley and Hera Books for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Laura has just had a baby and lives with her husband in a village in Ireland where everyone knows everyone else. She is new to the area. Her husband has grown up there and is a major employer running the local brewery. On the night that Laura’s waters broke a woman in the village was murdered. Amongst the baby congratulations card is an anonymous one telling Laura that her husband was the murderer. She hasn't known Conor that long but knows that it couldn't have been him as he was with her all night. She confides in her sister Amanda, the only relative on her side she is in touch with as we know Laura had a past- something she thought she had put behind her and desperately wants to keep it that way. Who would have murdered Vicky and why involve Laura? I got into this very quickly- to me a sign of wonderful writing and characters that you take to. There are lots of twists and turns, curveballs along the way to keep the grey matter active. I raced through this- always a good sign to me of a great book. I liked Laura and felt for her predicament. A cleverly crafted well thought out plot and one to keep you turning.

What would you do if somebody sent you a note saying her husband was a murderer? This question is the central theme of this novel which ask the questions how well do you know the people you love. Highly recommend five stars

Five Little Words by Jackie Walsh is an entertaining thriller.

Laura gets cards in the mail congratulating her on having a son, but one card says, “Your husband is a murdered. Where was he the night Vicky was killed?”

Vicky was a bartender in Ballycall, a small village outside Dublin. Laura recently moved to Ballycall with her husband Conor. Since Laura is new in town, she is just starting to get to know the villagers. Even the perfect little village has secrets.

Laura just had a baby and has known her husband for a little over a year. She thought she had the perfect husband but now starts to question whether that is true. Is someone trying to scare Laura or warn her?

Everyone has secrets even the characters that seem the most innocent. Laura has a secret she is afraid of her husband finding out.

I really enjoyed Five Little Words. There was the perfect amount of suspense and drama. I really enjoyed being in Laura’s head. Laura is a new mother struggling with being home without a job and raising a newborn. At the same time she is in a new place where she knows very few people. She has to deal with her mother in law always popping in.

Laura has very conflicting opinions of what is going on and what she should do. The only person she trusts to turn to is her sister, Amanda, who is in Dublin busy with work. Laura asks Amanda for advice and is constantly debating whether she should take it or not. Laura also is impatient waiting for Amanda to call her back and will make decisions alone instead of waiting for a call back.

Five Little Words was very entertaining with being very creepy. I read a lot of creepy thrillers so was happy to read something tamer. I believe Five Little Words is a good thriller for people that don’t typically read thrillers and want to try something different.

Five Little Words was my first book by Jackie Walsh and definitely won’t be my last.

Thank you NetGalley and Hera Books for this ARC of Five Little Words.

Five Little Words is a fast-paced read with short snappy, thrilling chapters that keep you enthralled.

Its story is based on mystery, lies and the protagonist Laura, second-guessing the secrets that have you thinking if a perfect husband could really be a murderer. It's a twisty read with redherrings and I felt engaged with the characters. I could picture the details, the dialect, and appreciate the Irish differences in the language used. Very well done.

Filled with suspense and dramatic scenes I really enjoyed this novel, and the short chapters is perfect for this writing style. I loved it.

More Whodunnit Than Mystery... 🤔 Overall Good Read

Laura married to Conor, looking forward to being a Mum to baby Shay, on her return home is greeted by her overbearing mother-in-law. Laura retrieves her post from the mat, thinking they're all congratulating them on the new baby, on opening there mail, discovers a note "your husband is a murderer...." leaving Laura wondering who has sent this, and is there an element of truth... does she she really know Conor?

It's told from Laura's perspective throughout, Vicky from the local pub has been murdered and the note is insinuating Conor is the one who did this. Laura attempts to do her own discreet enquiries, worrying if this could be true... Both Conor and Laura have their own secrets, worried that they will come out, but was he the one who actually murdered Vicky??

Overall good read, flows well, you can appreciate how she came to her suspicions, as it feels like all is not as it should be in their marriage. A definite should read if you like a whodunnit genre.

Laura receives a card in the post congratulating her on the birth of her newborn baby. But the note says something more sinister, "Your husband is a murderer".
Laura starts to suspect her husband when things don't add up
Her husband, Conor is keeping secrets. Can he really be a murderer?
But Laura too is keeping secrets about her past that if they came to light could mean the over world she created would crumble.
The voice and pace of Five Little Words was perfect. Told by Laura's point of view. She is a dynamic character that made me feel for her and think she was crazy at the same time. A can't put down thriller. A nail biting read.

This was a honest review.Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of this book.

This book had me hooked from start to finish - it is a long time since I finished a book as as quickly!

Laura is married to Conor, she has a beautiful house, a beautiful baby and a comfortable wonderful life. Until that is, she receives a card in the post warning her, telling her, that Conor is a murderer.

A lot of this book was me trying to figure out if Laura has post natal depression, if she is exaggerating her feelings and things going on around her. But there are great character figures in this book - Conor's mother Maggie, Pat, who lives at the end of the garden and "shuffles" around the yard, and Conor's seemingly toxic friends.

Who did kill Vicky? Is Laura safe? More importantly, is she safe from her own dark past?

Devoured this book. Thank you to the author, and Netgalley for the review copy.

This was an exciting domestic thriller that started of as a literal rollercoaster and never slowed down. The characters were well drawn and the storyline flowed seamlessly. Highly recommended!

Laura and Conor have just welcomed their new baby boy into their family after a whirlwind courtship and marriage. Everything should be perfect in Laura's world and it is, until she receives a card celebrating the birth of her baby with a note, "Your husband is a murderer." With these five little words, Laura's life takes a tailspin.

A woman was murdered in their small village the night before Laura gave birth but she is certain her husband had nothing to do with it. She's also certain that someone is out to harm her and her little family. Is it Conor's ex who still works for him? Their friends? Or is it something dark and buried from Laura's own past? Something she doesn't want Conor to know about?

Five Little Words by Jackie Walsh is a fast-paced thriller that will have readers enthralled. I really enjoyed this book and it left me guessing until the end. This is a great read!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for my copy of this book to review. All of the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

The cover of the book was what was first to draw me in. I think covers are one of the most important things when trying to stand out and catch someones eye!

The book was a little slow at first but it really picks up and had me hooked. Loved it.

Loved loved loved!!! Hooked me from the first chapter! There was some time in the beginning that seemed a little drawn out but it kept me reading wanting to find out more and more. I liked how the characters were all very well developed and the story line flowed pretty easy, I was guessing who the killer was until the very end! Highly recommend.

รყɳσρรเร: Laura has the dream life - a wonderful husband, a nice house, and now a new baby. However, after arriving home from giving birth to Shay, Laura finds a congratulatory card addressed to her that says, “Your husband is a murderer.” Almost immediately, the card disappears. Who wrote that and what do they mean? Also, where did the card go and who took it? Laura is keeping a secret as well, and she believes karma has come back for her. What is truly going on - is someone out to destroy Laura and Conor’s perfect family, or is Conor really a murderer?
✉️ ɱყ ƭɦσµɠɦƭร: I was hooked chapter by chapter and this was an easy read. The desire to learn Laura’s secret and the mystery behind the card drove my reading on. I recommend this book completely - 💯!

As soon as I saw the cover for Five Little Words, I knew this was a mystery I wanted to try. Written in first-person narration, the book has an easy-to-read, typical suspense-style feel to it. With short chapters that have you constantly second-guessing suspects, this suspenseful plotline kept me wondering until the very end.

While I enjoyed the plot, there were certain elements that took me out of the novel. Having an infant myself, some character actions felt incongruous to life with a brand new baby. This probably wouldn't have been a big deal had I not just completed the newborn stage myself.

Overall, this book was a quick and entertaining read, that feels more mystery than thriller. Thank you to Hera Books and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
