Description

Sobriety is a huge step that appears daunting if not gone about the right way.

The idea that an addict or alcoholic can become sober is only a myth to some people, but I’m here to tell you otherwise—from personal experience.

I went from a bottom-of-the-barrel alcoholic to becoming nine years sober and counting, and it has been incredible!

Are you struggling with an addiction and looking for something or someone to relate to? Are you looking for advice on proven and sustainable methods to achieve sobriety? Have you been struggling to understand what is going on in the mind of your loved one as they battle through addiction? Are you someone who wants to help a loved one or colleague get sober? Or you generally like to read and learn from other people’s experiences?

Look no further! This book has you covered. It offers an in-depth look into addiction and the road to sobriety, starting from the implications of some early childhood experiences and how they may affect an addict in the long run. This sobriety bible also comes packed with scientific studies to buttress each point while relating it to personal experiences in easy-to-understand terms. It starts by trying to understand the predisposing factors to alcoholism and addiction in general. Then there are chapters on enabling, the rock-bottom, intervention, disease theory of alcoholism/addiction, AA vs. SMART Recovery, ways of achieving sobriety, the challenges when trying to get sober, relapse and recovery, as well as what to do after a relapse. There are equally stories to relate to at each point. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been struggling. Take advantage of this sobriety self-help guide to set yourself on a path to sobriety.

If I could do it, so can you!

Thank you to the author for making this important work available on Net Galley. My review opinion is my own. I was interested to read personal experience of the author . This is a heart felt book told from the heart of the struggle that people have with alcoholism and staying sober. The author weighs the different types of programs and steps beyond the twelve step program to help anyone trying to stay sober. I have no experience with alcohol as I have never drank but know others who struggled and part of their journey is reading experiences of others. This is a valuable work that anyone can benefit from .

This was a good read, tough in parts yet very insightful, highlighting the author's struggle with alcohol, his drive and determination to leave a life fueled by alcohol behind him, and from there the constant struggle to remain sober. Alcoholism is an affliction that affects far more than we care to realise. This book focuses on the help that is out there, the pitfalls that addicts encounter and the fact that success can be achieved if people are willing to try and to try again if at first they don't succeed. It's a must read for anyone who things that life without alcohol would be a better way for them to lead their life.
