Description
When Pastor Eli Daniels's wife and brother ran away together, he was the one who lost—his family, his church, and his faith. All he has left are his four-year-old daughter and a little church in the world's smallest town. But he still has his speaking talent, and with it, he’s sure he can build up their numbers so he can catch the attention of another mega-church. He needs to be back in the big time, where he belongs.
Glory Matthews voted against hiring the new minister. He's single and handsome and more charismatic than any man has a right to be. He’ll draw every man-hunting woman around. And because he's used to the big time, he won't stay long . But when Eli is with his daughter, he's down-to-earth, loving and everything she could want, and Glory’s heart melts like a forgotten candle burning in the night.
If it's one thing Eli doesn't need, it's Glory Matthews. She's head-strong, pretty, faithful and doesn't seem to be fazed by his "celebrity." But Glory is also everything he could ever want, and somehow this Jordan Valley miss, just might help him find his faith and mend his heart.

Jordan Valley Miss is a sweet book that tells the story of Pastor Eli and his parishioner, Glory Matthews. Pastor Eli is reeling from the death of his wife and brother and the trauma his 4 year old daughter experienced being in the wreck that took her mother and uncle. His family members' deaths have left Pastor Eli emotionally numb and questioning God. After loosing his pastorate at a Dallas mega church, Pastor Eli accepts a position at a small church in Oklahoma. While there, Pastor Eli develops a friendship with a woman attending the Church named Glory.
Jordan Valley Miss does not shy away from the struggles that Christians face with their faith and the emotions that come with it and how they get through to the other side. I especially liked how the book had a devotional at the end. If you are looking for an inspirational book with a true Message, I suggest reading this book. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book! (This review is also on GoodReads.)
Jordan Valley Miss, by Susan Spess, is a sweet story of a very good looking, single dad and pastor, Eli, who was released from his very large church and took a job in a small church. He’s struggling with his own faith, loss of his dream position and a daughter who hasn’t spoken since the accident that took his wife and brother. Just as he is starting his new position he meets Glory. She is very vibrant and energetic. She belongs to many boards, works at her family’s day care center, leads bible studies and plays piano for the church.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story, to the point I could not put it down. This is a great story with many good messages within it. The message of having faith is strong as well as the message of caring for others. The message of having pride in having the biggest and best is one that stands out to me. I especially appreciate the devotional at the end of the story which tells us to keep our eyes on the Lod, to not be arrogant and to give credit to Jesus for our strength in times of trial. This is a great, quick read story, the ending had a happy twist I was not expecting. I received an ebook copy from the publisher, Pelican Book Group, through NetGalley, this is my honest review.
Can I give this sweet story 6 stars? This is one of those stories that you finish and you still think about. A truelove story built on faith and humbling. I LOVE how the characters fall for each other and the excitement that it takes for them to get to that point with each other. You will love this Christian romance story! It's so sweet and fun!
This story gripped my heart from the beginning. The truth about being in leadership and ministry in full time work in a church was enlightening as was the sadness I felt reading of how quickly a church removed the minister. The impact of holding things in tension and finding God's will and way was shown delightfully.
This is a well written book that is full of emotions. It is will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. If you like Christian fiction that stays with you long after you turn the last page, grab this book. It was a great read. Thank you Pelican Book Group via NetGalley for the complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
A very well written inspirational romance. Great plot and character dynamics. I loved this book. I received an advance ebook from the publisher and Netgalley and this is my unbiased review.
“Jordan Valley Miss” is a quick read. It’s about a young, widowed handsome pastor named Eli and his adorable 4-year-old daughter Brandi now living in Jordan Valley, a small town. Eli is the new pastor of a small church in Jordan Valley. He used to be a pastor at a megachurch until the church dismissed him after his wife and twin brother died in a car accident which left young Brandi traumatized.
In this town, he meets and befriends Glory and her sister Star whom both work in the town’s daycare. This was a nice read. I liked their friendship and how both Glory and Eli inspired each other. Eli, despite being a pastor, had some issues of his own. I wished we delved in more into that. I thought the romance was a bit rushed imo but it’s only 10 chapters in this book. The Christian message was good as well. The characters really loved Jesus and want to glorify Him in their lives. I also felt like we didn’t know much Glory’s life except her family she her jobs. She studied up he a nurse but I wished we got to know her more.
Nonetheless, it was a nice read.
I received this book through NetGalley and Pelican Book Group, and all thoughts are my own.
