What It Means to Be A Mom is a perfect book to flip through at the end of a long day of motherhood. Filled with humor, parenting affirmations, heartwarming moments, and honest truths, this book was such a pleasant surprise. In a world filled with messages on how to be "the perfect mom" this book is a great reminder of how we are all on this rollercoaster ride together, and no one has it all figured out!
From finding your mom tribe, to counting down the minutes until bedtime to the evolution of motherhood, this was just such a delightful read. The art and graphics go perfectly with the text and there really was something for everyone, whether you are just beginning your parenting journey or are nearing" the finish line". I know I will be including this title as part of my gift at the next baby shower I attend!
Tired of picture books for kids? Here's a picture book for mommies.
When you are feeling bogged down by this never-ending uphill battle named motherhood, it helps to remember that you are not alone. The book helps you get back your spirits at the end of another tiring day. It contains 150 one-liners, ranging from emotional to empathising, from humorous to inspirational. You'll find yourself nodding along and smiling at the varied thoughts. Some of the lines will even make you feel guilty. (What can I say! It doesn't take a lot to fill us mommies with regrets!)
The illustrations and designs in the book are cute and go well with the quotes.
I did enjoy reading the book though it felt a bit repetitive towards the end. I feel it will be a wonderful gift for expectant mothers or new mothers (if this latter group has time to read. :P )
I received an Advanced Review Copy of the book from NetGalley and Adams Media, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley!
The cover of this book is eye-catching. I loved the little pictures.
I loved this book. It was so fun to read. Seriously.
I'd definitely purchase a copy and check out other books by the author.
What It Means to Be a Mom is an inspirational and motivational book that will touch the heart of any mom. This book contains 150 easy-to-read entries that are perfect for a smile. It’s also a quick read since most Moms don’t have time for long books.... Each is told with real humor and really touches on both the pain points of being a mom (endless love and patience required!) and humor (it really DOES take a village to raise a kid and it WOULD help if it has ample vineyards)!
Whether a new or seasoned parent, any mom will enjoy this book on what being a mom really means. Because Jewel is right—there really is nothing better than having a child tell you “I love you” to make the mommy journey worthwhile! I may just gift this one for the moms in my life this Mother’s Day.
If you're a mom...then you need this book. I don't think I stopped smiling while reading this. Every mom truth in here seemed to resonate with me on some level. And almost every mom truth brought forth a memory of my kids that made me think of them. Jewel has done a great job on capturing what it means to be a mom. The humor and truth behind it was spot on.
What a sweet book! This is a wonderful, encouraging and reassuring book for Moms! I am adding this to my list of gifts for new and expecting moms. This book is written in great bite-sized pieces so Moms can get some helpful reassurance just when they need it! I will definitely recommend this book to other Moms!
I started this book because i was feeling kinda lost a mom. But thia book gave me a whole new view on being a mom and helped so much. I would recommend this to any mother to read!
I thought that this book was brilliant!
The book is well laid out and I loved the phrases used and the little snippets here and there, it was funny, positive, made me check myself in relation to how much my little person loves me irrespective or everything that happens too and I am doing as much and all I can for her as well.
I read the book in February, in the middle of lockdown, whilst working from home full time, and being home alone with a three year old a lot of the time as my husband works shifts for the Police - It was like a very very welcome warm hug to remind me of all the positives and it gave me a real smile and a well needed boost.
This would be a great present to give to any mum friends and mum relatives too - a great present to celebrate those mummies out there whatever stage they are at in their journey, expecting, with toddlers and preschool age like myself or teenagers too - it is a really positive read and it is 5 stars from me for this one - very highly recommended!

Filled with relatable mommy quotes in colourful fonts and illustrations, What It Means to Be a Mom by Jewel Nunez is certainly a fun book to flip through. Years from now, when your kids are all grown up, you could read this again and be surprised by all the hardships and sacrifices that you went through in the early years and feel proud of how far you've come. Also, it would make you yearn for those simple days when you were your kids' superheroes.
Fun book of short illustrated quotes about motherhood. Each page sort of feels like something you would find on Instagram, which I like. Some of them are funny, some encouraging, and some supportive or inspirational. This would be a good book to give a mom friend as a gift. I think my favorite part is that the book is strictly about motherhood and mom's relationship with kids, so it is universally applicable to moms whether they are biological, adoptive, foster, no matter how many kids they have, and whether or not they have a partner.
As a mom of two boys...there has never been a more perfect book of quotes!! These make me both laugh and smile. A wonderful book to flip through at the end of a stressful day that will bring some joy of what motherhood is back to the forefront of your mind.
I truly loved this and will be sharing it with all my other mom friends.
i do not have kids but this book if i could screenshot every page I would. We all know this mother... the REAL kind not the facebook and Instagram mom. This was hands down the best book i have read this year
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read and review.
An ode to mothers and the endless amount of love they provide! Cute says that you can browse for times when you wonder 'why did I choose this life' as you tire from unending laundry piles, spit ups, and toddler tantrums.
You will laugh aloud while you are crying as well. Fast paced and easy to read. Buy one for yourself and two to give away to your best friends.
A wonderful and heartwarming story of being a mother. The author has put a lot of effort in making this a fun-filled and humorous read. I truly appreciate the way how each sentence showed how all mother are multitasking supermoms with unending love and care. Definitely recommend it.
