This is an incredibly detailed craft book.
I did not expect this much detail for each craft.
Be prepared if you buy this it’s not the simplest buy it will, more than likely, be the most comprehensive.
If you’re looking for a book on standby to pick up and make something this isn’t it. If you’re looking for detailed and thorough projects it is.
You also need a lot of items to use this book. I do think however the instructions are clear and easy to follow
This is such a fun crafting book. Lots of activities and pictures to show what to do. I love that the book is even for beginners with descriptions of what the activities are and broken down with how to. Kids would love this book!
There are some nice projects to make in this short book. Simple and clear instructions well illustrated with photographs. I enjoyed learning the knots and I’m sure I’ll use them lots. I can now plate my hair in four strands something I’ve always wanted to do! This book can be appreciated by a wide age range. It covers the basics of a number of crafts Knitting, crochet, sewing, beadwork, knotting and braiding. There is something for everyone to have a go.
Kids Ultimate Craft Book by Editors of Quarry Books is a very detailed and thought out book. It features many crafts for kids to try, each craft has incredibly detailed instructions and pictures to show you how it is done. Easy to follow and achieve. Maybe aimed more towards older children rather than preschool.
Very useful crafting guide for kids! This craft book has quite a few different crafting techniques and multiple ideas for each technique. Every skill is explained clearly and precisely with step-by-step guide and photos. I have been knitting for a very long time and I didn't know that terms for undoing stitches are frogging and tinking; there is always something new to learn! I would highly recommend this craft book to anyone who is looking to learn a few new crafting skills.
Great idea sourcebook with simple ideas to help kids get crafting. The ideas are up to date for example everyone will want to design their own Twirly Whirly Watch Bracelet and Crystal Night-Light Shade. As well as beading other crafts such as paracord braiding, crochet, knitting, and sewing. The projects are modern and appealing to most young people. At a time when more adults have returned to crafting to help them with the stresses of the pandemic, this book is well-timed to help young people do the same.
As a guidance teacher, I always find that art and crafts have a calming effect on young people in distress. This book helps them generate ideas and confidence.
This is a great craft book! There are so many great ideas for many different types of crafts in this book! The photos are colorful and detailed. There are many skills taught very well in this book. I can't wait to buy this book for my kids! Thank you NetGalley for letting me preview it!
I love craft books so I couldn't wait to review this one!
The book covers bead crafts, braiding and knotting, crochet, knitting, and sewing. The text is rather small and in large block paragraphs, which makes me think that this book would be best for children at least 10 years old. Some of the tools listed for the beading crafts might best be used under adult supervision, even for older children.
An appendix that listed stores or websites where parents can purchase materials would have been nice - especially for those who prefer to shop in small, local stores.
My only real gripe is that there are no boys featured in the book. There are boys who would appreciate seeing other boys enjoying the same types of crafts that they do.
This sweet book would be a popular item in my classroom library! The projects are age and ability appropriate and I appreciated that the authors gave options to "personalize" or keep creating. The pictures are clear and useful, and the instructions are simple and to the point. The only thing I didn't love was that the materials for all projects would have to be purchased. I wish they had included some activities that could recycle or upcycle items that would already be around a house - although, I guess, that isn't the purpose or aim of this particular book - which is acceptable! I like that there is a wide-array of supplies and categories for the crafts, and they would appeal to a fairly wide range of age groups - although most seem to be aimed at tweens and teens.
This is an incredibly comprehensive craft book. There are so many great ideas! I particularly loved the 'Friendship Charm Pin' and the little 'Button Ring' idea and I know my daughter would love to make these for herself and her friends.
The book goes on to teach Braiding, Crochet, Knitting and Sewing (and using a sewing machine.) There is so much to learn! Throughout the book there are lists of materials, equipment and step by step instructions. Some of it does look quite tricky (and I think we'll need to get some supplies from a craft shop) but I can't wait to have a go with my daughter.
I would definitely recommend this book for anyone that has children that love craft and being creative!
Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for this eARC.
4.5☆ A fantastic crafts book, that is Educational, Fun and Engaging.
Kids Ultimate Craft Book is exactly that, it's the ultimate collection in one place.
From Knitting, Sewing, Crochet, Beading there is a lil something for everyone.
What I loved about this book is the depth in which it goes into to teach Children how to craft, using pictures, examples, tips, and listing all materials and how to use equipment. In a fun and easy to learn way. Without using too much text.
It even teaches you how to use a sewing machine and what kit you need to get you started. Even teaching you on paper first.
I must admit I am a keen knitter but using a sewing machine is something which I would love more practice with.
So even me I learnt a few new tips and tricks.
The only thing that I felt let the book down a little bit and stopped me rating a full 5☆ was the projects seemed to be more geared towards girls. Now I'm not saying that the projects couldn't be for both, but I just felt that if there was more diversity within the projects themselves, then this would be a winner. This is just my personal opinion, others may find it suitable for all.
Overall a fantastic crafts book that is not only educational, but fun and engaging.
The illustrations were brilliant and the step by step guides as clear as they can be.
However I personally prefer video guides, which may of been a nice added extra to accompany the techniques, such as knitting and crochet.
‘Kids ultimate craft book’ is a lovely resource for children probably around the pre-teen + age group.
It features some lovely jewellery, furnishings and more including a particular lovely flip-flop project!
Each project starts with an explanation of tools and techniques required. Clear photo illustrations are very useful to facilitate the creative process.
I’d say a good bit of planning is required to have all the ‘bits’ ready but I’m sure this isn’t beyond the capabilities of the age group it is targeted for.
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
A wonderful instructional book for a variety of crafts. This book gives a straightforward, but detailed overview from needed materials, methods, and a variety of projects. Step-by-step pictures accompany all of the projects. Types of projects include: bead crafts, crochet, knitting, sewing, etc. This is a perfect place to start if you're looking to learn a number of crafts!
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC.
What a fantastic little book!
Full of simple but great ideas. The instructions are clear and easy to follow and handily with lots of step by step photos to go along with them.
Great visual introduction to crafting for kids! Somehow, this book manages to fit surprisingly comprehensive explanation (with plenty of pictures) for six different crafts (beading, knots, braiding, knitting, crochet, and sewing) into one thin book, and fit in some adorable patterns as well. Great first crafting book for kids that have multiple interests to learn from.
Kids Ultimate Craft Book is filled with simple and interesting crafts that are teachable, cute, and sure to delight crafters of all ages. I found myself wanting to try a few, and not just for the kids. I really appreciated the knot and braiding instructions. Several types of knots are illustrated and explained, including 3 string and 4 string braids and crochet knots. The crafts are customizable - you will find your creativity is inspired by them and not overwhelmed by specifics and particularities. Overall, the instructions are easy to follow and the crafts are fun and creative. You and your little one will want to take these ideas and make them your own.
It's so difficult to get a book aimed at children that isn't childish. With clear and simple language throughout it is clear and accessible without 'dumbing things down' which is a joy to read.
All the tools and materials are really well explained and have excellent visuals to go with, even suggesting which projects would be best used with a lot of the items.
The projects themselves range from quick and easy wins to ones that will take a little time and effort. Nothing is overly complex but there's enough to challenge the reader a little after the basics are mastered. I was most impressed at the way the paracord bracelet was explained - time consuming and a little daunting in looks but actually very easy to follow instructions.
There is even an introduction to crochet and knitting which is rather impressive, as they can be quite tricky skills to master. This is definitely a solid 'all rounder' of a craft book and perfect for younger crafters to explore their talents and see what they would like to do more of.
For someone who loves crafts, this book is a dream! I love how thee are a lot of different crafts and they all are really easy to follow along. I would say the overall aesthetic of the DIY's is a little outdated though. But other than that, amazing book!
This is a very well written and illustrated book,. whilst it is a kids book, it has lots of projects that look very here and now. the book covers beading, sewing, crochet, knitting and braiding and knotting. The step by step instruction are very good with pictures to illustrate the steps.
The project a quite easy, but also those that are useful and would appeal to all children - maybe not so much for the boys in the beading projects, but the other project are very suitable - my grandsons (and grand daughters) love sewing and braiding. Knitting/crotchet with wool requires more patience on my part, but I think this books may be of help to get them over the gap
Great book to keep children doing some creative things by hand.
I'm not sure if this is a series, but this isn't the ultimate craft book lol. This one foci=uses in beadwork, crocheting, and other similar crafts. The book Is very detailed from instructions to tools. This is a great resource for parents and great activities to do with your children.
I think this is a great book with super ideas. It's easy to follow and I have enjoyed trying some new things. A real triumph!
As with most craft books, they are only as good as the person who uses them. To get the best use of the definitions and instructions, the reader has to attempt a craft or two. Speaking of which, this book gives kids a wide variety to explore - hopefully with mom or dad. Quite a few safety tips that parents should definitely go over with their children just to be sure they understand. Photography is very well done and love the colorful and varied fabrics/materials shown. Certain to catch the eye of the reader. Overall a wonderfully put together book that should be on every child’s shelf.
I received an advanced reader copy for free from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
