A very good book providing useful tips for your CV and how best to draft it to get the job you want.

Some of the tips were known to me but some were new and I think this comes with age, for example, there are tips in here which I was taught at school but people five years older than me would not have done. This also works in reverse, people younger than me would have been taught things which are in the book so would not need to be told it again. For this reason, this book is good for everyone as it contains tips we've all missed out on.

There are expert tips in here from those who work in the HR departments of the big boy industries, people who see thousands of applications a day. These are the people who know what type of CV stands out as they see them day in, day out. They also know what type of CVs fall under the radar.

I have changed my CV based on the tips in this book and it already reads better.

The book brings home the point that a CV is your first impression on a recruiter and so it should say exactly what you want it to.

There is also a lot of information on how best to create your CV for online applitrak systems, the ones where they ask for your CV but then they also ask you to fill in the details. I have finally found the easy way to do this and this book explains it.

I am usually not one for books that tell you how to do your CV as they don't contain anything new or they are very patronising. This book is not like that. The author explains how things changed, how they're changing now (with covid19), what experts think, how to change your CV and why. The tone is not patronising, it is helpful in way that assumes that the reader has a brain but just requires help and I like this.

Get the Interview Every Time by Brenda Greene is an extensive, all-in-one guide to getting a new job. It covers: resume and cover letter writing, LinkedIn tips, interviewing, salary negotiation, etc. I think the most valuable tips were on writing and formatting your resume so that it passes screening by recruitment software. This is a fantastic book if you only want to buy one that has everything.

Thank you WillLeeJack Publishing and NetGalley for providing this ARC.

I didnt realise how you could make your own job with the open job roles at companies.
"Every workplace has its own language, so the more you engage with people in the profession you hope to break into, the better you are able to communicate and relate."
"The technical interview not only gives the employer insight into how much you know, how you think, how you process information"
Many reosurces on how to prep for technical interviews as well as how to showcase your soft skills. A good book for those who are starting out in search of a job.

Got the interview, and the job! I’ve always been clueless on cover letters and how best to sell myself. This is a great intro for others in the same boat!

Being a resume writer, I wanted to make sure that I am keeping up to date on my process, and this book did an excellent job. Walking the reader from the initial point of looking for a job, through creating resumes, drafting cover letters, updating LinkedIn, interviewing, and acclimating to a new role, this book covers it all. The writing is very easy-to-understand and gives readers a clear picture on what will make their job search the most successful. With credible sources overseeing hiring for top companies, the reader knows they can rely on what they are reading. If I were allowed to, I would easily recommend this book to any of the clients I work with to increase their success - it is a clear action plan to getting things done.
