Description
Cole’s house had been on the market for only a couple of weeks before the arrest. He’d never heard of the guy—a seventy-two-year-old retiree living in another part of Sacramento County—but the cops said he was the Golden State Killer, who was suspected of committing at least fifty rapes and more than a dozen murders back in the 1970s.
The mailman said one of the attacks took place inside Cole's house.
So Cole, an investigative reporter by trade, set out to confirm that the crime actually took place, and who committed the murder. Along the way, he found something even more compelling. All this time, the cops had been sitting on evidence that the Golden State Killer had an accomplice.

My thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for allowing me to review this interesting book.
Cole is a former reporter who is in process of selling his house when his mailman tells him a victim of the Golden State Killer was murdered there. This takes Cole on a journey to find out who the victim was, but gets him into other trouble.
I enjoyed this. I like the way it threw in actual content and information about the Golden State case and raising the possibility of a second murderer.
I enjoyed this book. Kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. Thanks to publisher and NetGalley for this book. Highly recommend!
Oh wow this was so good. A nail biter at times. Kept me on egde. Very well written, thought out plot.
It all begins with a house for sell. A murder that the mailman said possibly happened in Coles house. Since Cole is a journalist he sets out to see if wha the mailman said really happened.
I loved the author's writing style. It almost read like the narration in one of those old detective noir style shows, but in third person. The plot itself was good and interesting, especially for anyone who follows the true crime stuff behind GSK. My main struggle was connecting to the characters. It made it hard to really be invested in the book, even though the reading was an enjoyable experience. I didn't necessarily care when I put down the book if I couldn't come back to it right away. I would absolutely read this author again because it's clear that his style works for me and maybe a different set of characters or the maturing over books could fix the parts I struggled with.
I wanted to add this to my list of things I’ve read on the Golden State Killer, and did. Its a well written story that kept me involved to the end. Thriller mysteries aren't usually my thing, but it was worth the read. Just thinking about there being another DeAngelo type out there is creepy. Advance electronic review copy was provided by NetGalley, author Tom Chorneau, and the publisher.
