The pictures in this book do a very good job of explaining the antonyms. Some of the words though don’t seem to have antonyms in the book, so that was kind of confusing.

This book is so cute! I loved the way it teaches kids the opposite of words they probably know. The illustrations were great and so was the simple writing.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Charlesbridge Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. What a fun book. The illustrations fit the words well. It is super colorful which makes it very attractive to small children. very cute book with easy words to teach. Think most small children would enjoy-this is something an older sibling could read to a smaller child. 4 stars

Baby's Opposites
by: Nancy Raines Day
illustrated by: Rebecca Evans
reviewed by: Jennifer Smith "Page Journeys"
Nancy Raines Day introduces us to a sweet Baby girl who excitedly wakes up at home, gets dressed and prepares for a fun-filled day. Baby participates in a full agenda of explorations about town with her mom, dad, brother and dog. Join her as she meets new friends and neighbors, while teaching the reader about the important concept of opposites such as smile/frown and asleep/awake. A critical component of language learning in children, opposites help with comparison-contrast, descriptions, and vocabulary development. The learning settings in the picture story include a playground, walking path, park, city sidewalks and home. Rebecca Evans charmingly and colorfully captures the moments in Baby's day with her warm, engaging illustrations. As a speech-language pathologist, I love the range of diversity in the people, settings, emotions and activities presented. The attention to detail in the illustrations pairs nicely with the simplicity of the opposite words that are introduced throughout the book. Baby's Opposites belongs on bookshelves of young children, as well as early education teachers and speech-language therapists. I would love to give this book as a gift for a baby shower, holiday event, or birthday party.
I'd like to thank Net Galley and Charlesbridge for advanced reader's copy and opportunity to review Baby's Opposites.

An interesting book for toddlers, who just start learning some words. This book will teach the little ones simple words that can be associated. Like daybreak means someone's still asleep or already awake. With great illustration that shows what a frown is, for example.
