Description
We know it deeply. It is so hard to juggle work, home, and spiritual life. As working
women, we've wrestled with tough questions:
· How can I be effective in my work, and stay committed to the Gospel?
· How can I be dedicated to my family, when my job is so demanding?
· Why am I working so hard, and still so unfulfilled?
Sound familiar? Like you, we see a culture that promotes success at all costs, and
working women are falling for it. It's happening every day. Priorities are shifting. Things are getting done . . . but are we doing what matters most?
And that's why we wrote this book. This is the story of how we traded the lies of the
world for the truth of our loving Father--the lessons we learned that challenged culture's
"good things" so we could find the greatest thing.
The book you're holding in your hands is really a conversation--a conversation that
pushes back against our culture with a Gospel-centered approach to work and
womanhood, for the glory of God and the good of others.
Let's get to work. His way.

This book is a must read for all women - whether you work in a traditional 9-5, ministry or are a stay at home mom. The way Michelle and Somer share "culture says vs. God says" is easy to see the stark differences. I love the prayers at the end of each chapter!
Many women in the workplace feel the tension of managing life on the job and life at home. There can be strain trying to balance it all, causing feelings of guilt to surface, or frustration with the disorganized chaos it can become.
We struggle to reconcile our career pursuits, our identity among our peers and the push of the culture around us to achieve and succeed. For the woman who loves and follows Christ, these questions are so important to answer! And by his grace, the Lord provides us guidance and answers in his Word.
In, She Works His Way: A Practical Guide for Doing What Matters Most in a Get-Things-Done World by Michelle Myers and Somer Phoebus help us, as Christian women, learn how our roles and responsibilities sit under the authority of God, teaching us a biblical worldview of our work.
This book is written for the woman who finds herself - in the secular workplace or in ministry - struggling to reconcile the modern day mantras about who women 'should' be with the truth of God's Word.
"The world is trying so hard to convince you that you can do it all, be it all and have it all. An apart of you really wants to believe it" but, "dependence on God is the foundation for following him. That's why we must constantly remind ourselves that as believers, self-sufficiency is a deficiency."
The chapters dive into topics about ambition, identity, success, relationships, listening and leading, showing us how scripture teaches us the way of the cross in all these areas of our working lives. Our careers aren't just work, they are our daily opportunity to be the hands and feet of the Lord Jesus, and his mouthpiece of love and grace to those we meet; all for the good of others and the glory of God.
I particularly love the powerful prayer at the end of every chapter, they've been ones I return to during the early hours of my day as they reorient my mindset from one of selfish striving to selfless service.
She Works His Way is also a discipleship community, where they host classes on business training and personal development that aligns with God's Word and is: dependent on God, dedicated to family, committed to the gospel and effective in our work.
If you're looking to understand what scripture teaches us about our work and to apply it practically to your life, this great book is coming out in October. Preorder it today! You'll also get access to a study guide that goes along with the book, which you would work fantastic in a small group setting.

There are many books for working women. This one is different! This book doesn't tell you how to climb a ladder or "balance" your chaotic life. In She Works His Way, Somer and Michelle take you on their journey of mistakes and lessons in their own work and life experiences. They each have unique advice and Bible based wisdom that all women can relate with. Each chapter is a path to freedom. Freedom from culture's demands on your life...both at work and at home.
Need help navigating tough relationships in a secular job without compromising your faith? This book is for you!
Do you feel like you're tired of waiting in a job or season of life that feels pointless or frustrating? Read this book!
Do you want to be a light in your place of work? Read this, and you can't help but feel strengthened, encouraged, and most of all emboldened to shine bright!
The authors have given simple and practical, yet life changing wisdom on how to work HIS way...a must read!
I loved and learned from every page!
"She Works His Way" is a refreshing entrant to the personal-growth, career, and leadership genres!
I've read "a few" (read: a ton, haha) of books in each of these genres, and very few have risen to the top as fast as this one did. In a world full of "follow your passion/dreams" and "do what makes you happy" messaging, Phoebus and Myers remind the Christian woman of exactly where our value, worth, and indeed, passion should be found--in Christ. He is the source, and pursuit of him should be over all things--even, perhaps especially, over things I love. Including Baby Yoda (she typed, wincing).
The read is convicting and encouraging, often at the exact same time! :D Which is really just what I need. And I love it even more because I've been following the authors' blog/website, also named She Works His Way, for some time; reading their book gave me so much insight into them, their heart for the SWHW community, and its many resources available. Building relationship, even via a book, takes experiences to the next level--from "why should I trust this voice"/"what's in it for me" to "they genuinely care about their audience" and, ultimately, the shared pursuit of Christ--the best endeavor any of us can be on.
Highly recommended. 5/5 stars.
I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
Michelle + Somer have always brought Biblical truth in loving exhortation, and this book is no different. In fact, it is a book that breathes the life of truth straight into your heart and soul. It challenged me, but in such a good way. I don't desire to live my life how the world tells me I should, but when you are a busy wife and mom with a million balls in the air, it is easy to auto-pilot right into worldly responses and priorities. This book gives us a check-in, and encouragement to reframe and come back to the center - reassess and respond with Jesus as our center. I'm so thankful to have this book to keep close, because this is a worthy battle to be fought everyday, in every decision we make.
