First of all the artwork in this book is gorgeous and works so well with the style of this book!

Secondly, I think this is a wonderful book for kids with lupus, but could also work for other chronic illnesses (the rash part would possibly need omitted or changed for this but you'd still get the gist whether you included it or not). I also think it could be a good conversation starter for kids who know someone - a friend or relative, adult or child - with lupus.
It's very simple, and short, but well explained.

This was quite lovely. I haven’t come across a book that explains clearly to children what life with lupus can be. This book doesn’t patronise but it does explain more about lupus as well as coping mechanisms and how to approach conversations. The book is positive and actually quite joyful. The images are bright with bold colours and the book got my little one asking interesting questions that we could explore together in Reading.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I loved the dedication and thought it’s a sweet touch. This is a great little book to introduce chronic conditions to children to help them better understand their own condition or that of someone around them. This could be great for children who have just been diagnosed with a chronic condition as it is full of hope and positivity to help them through a confusing and difficult time.

This book was a wonderful read about a girl and her struggles with Lupus, but how the people around her have a positive and helpful impact on her life. I think books like this are so important not only for children with this chronic condition but for other children and adults who don't have any exposure to this disease.

The illustrations are lovely and vivid and I would recommend this book to others!

Thank you @netgallery & Christina Acosta for an eARC copy in exchange for a honest review.

Chrissy’s Life with Lupus is a beautiful and inspiring story about a little girl who faces life’s challenges with resilience and a big heart. Through Chrissy’s journey, readers get an honest look at living with a chronic illness while being reminded of the power of hope and positivity. I loved how this book combined an important message with such relatable moments—it made me smile and tear up all at once. A great read for kids and families who want to learn about empathy and bravery.

I thought that this book was great and whilst I don't have Lupus, I have a friend that does - it is an illness that doesn't really get talked about that much.

I have a hidden disability myself so this book was a real pleasant surprise, and definitely a book that is needed to help explain more about this conduction, and also about discussing health conditions that may not be obvious at first sight.

The book is well written and whilst it is a short story, it gets the points over well and the illustrations in the book really add to the story. It will be a good start for a discussion and talking points to explain the condition to children.

It is 5 stars from me for this one - a really great idea to showcase more hidden disabilities - very highly recommended!

Okay, so Chrissy’s Life with Lupus totally got me in the feels! This book is all about Chrissy, who’s basically a rockstar kid dealing with lupus like a total champ. Her story’s got heart, courage, and some seriously sweet moments that’ll make you wanna hug the nearest person. I learned a ton about lupus without even realizing it because Chrissy’s so dang lovable. It’s the kind of book that makes you go, “Wow, life’s tough, but so are we!” 🦋💜

Representation is so important and Chrissy's Life with Lupus definitely helps to do that for children with Lupus. We learn, in simple terms, what it day to day life could look like for a a child with Lupus. This would be a great introduction for young children who may know someone with Lupus, or just for children to have awareness, in general. The illustrations are very sweet and the writing is simple enough for young kiddos to follow.

Thank you to Christina Acosta and NetGalley for an eARC of this book for an honest review.

As someone with Lupus, my heart was so happy to see this book. It’s a great one for the shelves of younger readers who are dealing with this condition and get to see it represented in its pages. Not only that, but for their carers too. It’s an illness that doesn’t get nearly enough air time so to see it as centre stage subject was lovely.

It’s short and succinct with some really beautiful illustrations and pictures to accompany the lyrical and poetry style of writing.

It can be so hard having such a chronic and invisible illness like Lupus. You got the feeling of being understood with this book and it was easy to relate to with symptoms and not always feeling your best so especially for younger children with a diagnosis it could be really valuable.
