Description

Illustrated with 200 outstanding photographs, Dangerous Animals presents an in-depth look at the natural world’s most deadly creatures, from poisonous spiders and sea snakes to aggressive lions and man-eating sharks. The selection spans a broad spectrum of wildlife, from large carnivores such as the grizzly bear and great white shark to smaller but equally deadly predators such as the black widow spider and puff adder. Each world habitat is covered, with examples carefully drawn from every region of the planet – from the majestic lion of the African plains and the polar bear of the arctic wastes, to the Komodo dragon of South-east Asia, whose saliva carries poisonous bacteria that can kill a person in hours. Featuring around 100 species, each photographic entry is supported with a fascinating caption, explaining how the animal manages to be so deadly. Beautifully presented, this accessible book is a wonderful introduction to some of the planet’s fiercest – or just most poisonous – creatures.

This book offers stunning photographs and details about some of world's most dangerous animals. Organized by continents, the pictures show their beauty, magnificence and power as the facts explain how their skills have made them masters of their environments. The book also stresses that many of these species are now on the endangered list.

A wonderful book for anyone interested in animals, I recommend this highly!

A collection of 200 gorgeous photographs featuring the world’s deadliest creatures (after humans). From tiny ants and frogs, to huge bears and sharks, these pictures span a myriad of species in every corner of the world. Each chapter is devoted to a continent, with a final one featuring the oceans, all including animals whose deadliness stems from their venomousness or from the size of their teeth and claws. The photographs are impressive, displaying the beauty and awesomeness of these creatures in all their glory. Even the spiders are gorgeous here. The amount of patience it must take to capture these images is unbelievable. The text that accompanies the illustrations is short but informative, and it makes clear how, deadly as these creatures are, they are in more danger from us humans, than we are from them. Every animal lover will devour this book.

I absolutely loved this book. It made my heart so happy. The photography is stunning with over 200 pictures that capture these animals in their natural environments. I enjoyed how the book is divided by continents, similar to a zoo. My children are teenagers now, but I have great memories of where we would mark animal pages with post-it's before a trip to the zoo, and their excitement of finding them, in person, on our next zoo trip.

This book has general information, names of animals and fun facts, from a beginner to intermediate level; however, the photography is brilliant and can be enjoyed at all ages. I think anyone with a love of animals would enjoy this book. The artist in me loves the dynamic action shots and the lovely animal anatomy I can draw. I can't wait to purchase a physical copy of this book. Apparently, the photos are even more detailed in the hardcover version. It would make a great coffee-table book. My favorite animals found throughout these pages are the up-close, big cat pictures (snow leopard) and the underwater/partially submerged pictures were neat.

Thank you, NetGalley and Amber Books, for providing me with a digital copy of this book for an honest review.

First off, let's hear it for the STUNNING photography in this book. The reader gets to enjoy crisp, clear, up close pictures of animals you normally do not want to be near.

I loved that the animals were sorted by the areas in which they live. I learned some new facts about different animals as well as learned about animals I did not previously know about.

This book while listed as a children's book it would also make a great coffee table book for an adult. This is something I am most likely going to buy for myself because i'd love to look at it again and share it with my neices and nephews.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this book early.
