I loved everything about this book! I switched back and forth between reading and listening and honestly… they’re totally equal! The narrator is fabulous, the writing is phenomenal… the storyline blows my mind!!! I loved it all! The alternating chapters and figuring out who the bad guys are and the fuzzy line between doing what’s right and doing the right thing… absolutely epic! Callie Taylor is in a class all to herself!
Great book! I definitely enjoyed reading this one! This book had suspense, intrigue, action and so many twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my kindle! I will definitely recommend reading this book! It was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
A classic revenge book with a twist. What if you thought you spouse set you up for murder what would you do to get even? Don’t trust any character within this book! Absolutely one of the best books I have read all year!
I really, really enjoyed this book! It hooked me from the very beginning and kept me hooked the entire time.
Unexpected! Most of the book felt like the usual - marital affair, someone is framed and goes to jail. However, the twist at the end was unexpected.
Felt like there was quite a bit of side story that kept things going, but it all fit within the web of the characters. Overall definitely would recommend this book .
Thank you Netgalley & Harper 360/Avon for an eARC of The Guilty Couple! With one look at the cover of this book, I knew I needed to request it! What would you do if your husband framed you for murder? Now that Olivia is free from prison, you're going to find out just how far she will go to rekindle her relationship with her daughter and right the wrongs that were done to her. I switched off between the audio and physical for this one, and both were great. This is a twisty psychological thriller that will leave you guessing until the very last page.
This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, Harper360 and by #NetGalley. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
Thrilling, suspenseful, exciting, brilliant and entertaining.
Thank you netgalley and publisher for opprti To read and review this arc honestly.
I believe this is the first time I’ve read anything by this author and I loved it. I was actually reading a different book but didn’t have my kindle on me so I started this book on my phone and couldn’t stop reading it. I didn’t even go back to my other book until I finished this one. The story flowed well, well-paced, and good story. Overall would recommend this to others, so good!
This domestic thriller follows Olivia Sutherland as she is freed from prison 5 years after being convicted of plotting to murder him. Now that she's free, she has three goals: repair her relationship with her daughter, clear her name, and bring down her husband who framed her.
TW/CW: drug abuse, drug overdose, police corruption, infidelity, incarceration
Domestic thrillers are usually solid, middle of the road reads for me. I don't pick up a ton, and the ones I do are normally good, but nothing about them really sticks with me. This one, on the other hand, I really enjoyed. It was the perfect balance of domestic drama plus over-the-top situations. It was a fun, twisty read that I would highly recommend, especially for a summer vacation read.
I really enjoyed the cast of characters and their different relationships. We don't get a ton of backstory on any of them, even Olivia and her husband, but the current relationships are so well developed I didn't mind at all. We know the basic info, but we don't get any long info dumps or flashbacks to flesh out the early parts of these relationships. And big plus for having all the characters having very distinct names so I could actually keep them all straight in my head (no Maria/Mary/Maggie here, for example). While Olivia is the protagonist we are mostly following, we do get some multi-POV chapters from other characters that played a big role in the story. These other POV chapters made it easy to sneak in some more information about them as well as give the reader information that Olivia doesn't have (or at least doesn't have until later in the story).
The justice/prison system does play a pretty big role in this story and I thought it was handled well (with the caveat that I don't have first hand experience). I liked how Olivia keeps in touch with some of the women she met in prison instead of getting out and immediately reverting back to her previous way of life. I haven't spent 5 years in prison, but I would imagine this is more accurate, especially when those ties and friendships were pretty strong. Now, this is set in the UK and I'm in the US so I'm not sure if they have rules about being friendly with other criminals or if the justice system, in general, is shown accurately. I think the time from Olivia being arrested and then being found guilty was only a few months which I would consider fast but maybe my frame of reference isn't quite right. There was one particular plot point regarding the police that I questioned but I just suspended my questions and went along for the ride.
The pacing was fantastic and much more fast paced than most domestic thrillers I've read. I think the big difference is the choice of where to start this story. We open with Olivia's guilty verdict being read, then a 5 year time jump to when she's getting released and the story goes from there. I think a more traditional domestic thriller plot would be following the initial case and having Olivia try to prove her innocence during that trial. I really enjoyed Taylor's choice to more or less drop the reader in the middle of Olivia's messy life right when she's getting handed probably the worst news of her life. The pacing didn't let up from there and there were a number of plot-based reasons that Olivia couldn't sit around and plan for months and months. She had to act relatively quickly and take risks, which translated to great pacing and tension for the reader.
The reveals started early and kept coming. Taylor does a great job at slowly ramping up how serious these reveals are and as each new one gets revealed, there are larger and larger consequences for the story and our characters. I did guess some of the reveals ahead of time but I couldn't guess all of them so I still got some good surprises out of this read. I also enjoyed how the reveals were well spread out over the various characters/relationships instead of just one character having most of the reveals. It really helped amp up the tension because we weren't sure where the next twist would come from. There were also a few times where Olivia would go through a bullet point list of the facts that she knew up to that point and I think those moments were a nice pause for the reader to refresh their memory as well. We get a good amount of twists building on each other as well which are always a hit for me and I enjoy having the rug pulled out from under me like that.
Overall, this was a really fun and twisty read. Much more fast paced and tense than most domestic thrillers I pick up. We don't get a ton of super fleshed out characters, but I think the well developed relationships between characters more than makes up for a lack of character history.
Thanks NetGalley and Harper 360 for the ARC.

The guilty couple
Directly out of the gate the book starts with and oh my moment. And it seems like you have a woman who has it all being on trial for a crime that she didn't commit blah blah blah same old stuff you would see on TV. And then pretty soon you'll learn that there's a Twist to it all. So this book in the beginning takes on multiple viewpoints. One of them is the wife, the other the husband, and the friend in-between is the third View. Initially when I'm sitting here reading the book I immediately do not like the husband. He seems as though he's got something big to hide and within the first two three chapters of his version, we find out that there's somebody mysterious on the other end of the phone that he's been talking to. We also find out that he really does have something to hide.
I do not like Dom. I picture him with a thin wirey mustache. Who is Matt? Sonia seems very….. light in her answers. I feel horrible for Grace! Dani is exactly why i don't trust the police. I want to know who is in the other end of the phone! This book is amazing (as i speed read throug it and know I'll regret it when it's finished). At 57% i feel my anxiety creeping up to know what is going on. The plot twists are KILLING ME!!!!
Holy mother of pearl clutching!!! The storage shed scene!!!! The drama at the airport, everything in between those two points AND THEN THE LAST SENTENCE OF THE BOOK!!!! i just CANNOT RIGHT NOW!!! I have never read a book by this author but now? Now, i will consider them an auto buy. This book took me through a Rollercoaster of emotions and really made me pay detective to figure out WHODUNIT! The book was left like it could have a sequel and i pray this author writes one. This book was perfectly set up and executed. It had a period of moving you in to an interesting story, captivating you, having multiple twists and turns, and leading you to a conclusion that was not rushed.
This is my first book from Netgallery and let me say, I'm impressed ! First and foremost, thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read this book. I was a little skeptical coming into this Netgallery experience that these might be cheesy books by no name authors but now I can gladly say that I was wrong.
The Guilty Couple takes you on a journey of a wife who was framed for murder of her husband, by her husband. Olivia serves her time and comes out of jail with avenges. She will go to drastic lengths to prove her innocence and win her daughters trust back. Of course along the way there are twists and turns.
This book got me hooked from the beginning. I was very into the storyline and I found each characters POV very interesting. There are some books that you read and you feel like you are in an actual movie and this book did that for me. Overall this was a very enjoyable book and very easy to read.
Wonderful read! I was unable to put this down and stayed up late to complete it. The gripping storyline with several twists and turns and the final twist was amazing. We follow the lives of Liv, Dani, and Dom through various adventures.
I look forward to more by this author. Thank you, NetGalley!
In C. L. Taylor's latest psychological thriller, Olivia Sutherland tries to rebuild her life after serving five years for allegedly trying to kill her husband. Her conviction destroyed her marriage, ruined friendships, and alienated her daughter, Grace, who believes that Olivia is guilty. Now Olivia wants to rebuild her life by finding a job and a place to live where she and her daughter can live. In order to do that, Olivia has to prove her innocence while her ex-husband does everything he can to keep Olivia away from Grace.
As Olivia investigates who framed her for plotting to murder her husband, she discovers a complicated plot against her involving her ex-husband, a dirty cop, and people she once trusted.
C. L. Taylor tells the story from several different perspectives, with Olivia's story being told in the first person point of view, creating a sense of intimacy between the reader and the main character by giving access to Olivia's thoughts and fears. Meanwhile the other characters are narrated in third person, providing us with a glimpse of their roles in Olivia's story.
The author succeeds at engaging and drawing the reader into Olivia's world. This book is definitely a thriller as its pace and uncertainties get the reader's heart racing. I'm looking forward to reading more books from C. L. Taylor in the future.
This book gave me everything I needed! Twists that I didn't see coming, a good revenge plot, and irritating characters that I either grew to love or hate! The MC Olivia was bound and determined to get her life back after her husband framed her for attempted murder! I loved all the reveals and twists that came while reading the book. I found myself rooting for the MC, even when she seemed at her lowest. Olivia kept her eyes on the prize and made sure she was going to win at the end, even if it meant her going back to prison.
I highly recommend if you like thrillers, revenge plots, domestic thrillers. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC, in exchange for my honest review.
I actually really liked this. The title and plot sounded intriguing. I’ve only read one other book by this author and it was YA. I love books that involve either married couples or divorced ones. This was juicy.
This read took me right back to my comfort zone of domestic and psychological thrillers. There were plenty of questions throughout the book and most of the answers were unexpected. The final twist definitely surprised me! I love dual POVs in a thriller, definitely adds to hear multiple sides of the story. I don’t want to say too much and spoil anything… but how far would you go for someone you love?
After being framed for trying to kill her husband and spending five years in prison for it, Olivia is out and ready to claim her innocence and see her daughter again. While Olivia attempts to secure the evidence that proves she was framed by her ex-husband, she discovers affairs, what happened to her ex-lover, and that not everyone in her life can be trusted.
I enjoyed the plot and the characters, but some of the scenarios felt a little too easily resolved throughout the book. A quick, suspenseful read told from various viewpoints as the narrators took turns telling their side of the story with a twist I wasn’t able to guess. Recommend picking this one up for a good summer mystery read!
Thank you to Harper 360 for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Now this is what I call a real thriller and you better hang onto your hat for this unpredictable one! The story begins with Olivia being released from prison after 5 years and she is convinced that her ex-husband and policewoman Danielle Anderson, or Dani, framed her. Her cellmate, Kelly Smith, or Smitty, is released shortly after and they join forces to try and clear Olivia's name. There are plenty of surprises in this book that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.
Thank you NetGalley and Harper 360 for the ARC of this very intriguing book that I highly recommend to anyone who loves a real thriller.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of The Guilty Couple by Cl Taylor. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to Netgalley and Harper 360 for providing an ARC to review.
Olivia has spent five years in prison for a crime she didn't commit. Now that she is free, Olivia is determined to restart her life with her daughter, but the man who framed her has other thoughts.
This book was so fast-paced that sometimes it felt a bit overwhelming but in a good way. While it often felt that the author threw in all the plot twists that a book could have, it kept the story going at a rapid pace and didn't give me time to think about how sometimes Oliva's actions were kind of foolhardy. There was definitely a lack of character development, but with so much going on, I could easily ignore that. I give this book a solid 3.75/5 stars.
WOW that ending was great!!!! Fantastic book my first by this author it won't be my last! I loved how the story flowed so easy through 3 different Povs, it had me wanting to keep reading and reading to find out what would happen next!!!! O really enjoyed this one
Super unique story, interesting characters, and a quick, addictive storyline - all my favorites!!
After being wrongly imprisoned for 5 years, Olivia is released and ready to clear her name, no matter what it takes. She knows her husband framed her, and has likely turned their daughter against her. Did he do it alone? How can she prove it?
Pros: This was a page-turner for me, with lots of suspense, which I absolutely enjoyed!
Cons: The twists weren’t earth-shattering or shocking, but confusing. At times I felt there were a few too many things going on, and I’d get confused and have to reread a few pages to see if I missed something.
Overall, I liked the story and would absolutely read another story by this author. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4, Many thanks to Netgalley and HarperCollins for this ARC!
After serving 5 years in prison on a wrongful charge, Olivia is out on parole. Her one dream is to resume a relationship with her teenaged daughter, and right the wrong of her conviction. Falsely accused by her now, ex-husband, sent her to prison, and Olivia is determined to find out why he betrayed her.
In this fast paced novel, Olivia uncovers multiple clues to her ex’s lies, including an affair with a police women who testified against her at trial.
Now her ex husband wants to take their daughter to Dubai, and possibly never return. Olivia engages a team of friends to help her keep her daughter.
This book was an engaging, page turner with a few twists. I read it quickly and enjoyed every word!
5 stars
Thank you to Net Galley for the advanced copy.
I loved this book. It kept me hooked and had twists and turns that were both unexpected and well written. I barely put it down. I would definitely recommend to a friend.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!!
This book was loaded with secrets, betrayals, affairs, and drama. The plot was engaging, and I felt like it kept me enticed to see who framed Olivia (and why).
A few pieces to the puzzle didn’t quite fit in my opinion, but I loved the potential for a second book.
Well rounded. Exactly what I’m looking for in a solid mystery.
When I read the synopsis for this book, I was dying to read it! A woman finds herself in prison after wrongfully being accused of plotting to murder her husband. She’s now getting out, and wanting revenge. I immediately got “Double Jeopardy” vibes, but this was totally not that. This was SO MUCH JUICER than even the synopsis would leave you to believe…
This woman, Olivia, was framed in this alleged murder plot and yes, she is now being released from prison. She hasn’t seen her daughter in years, and she now carries a social taint with many of their common friends. She’s a convicted … murder hirer? Murder plotter? She can’t go near her ex-husband, Dominic, and only has supervised visitation with her daughter, Grace. She has no job, nowhere to live, and a lot less friends than she once had. Worst of all? She was innocent, and she knows her husband and his mistress were to blame.
The rest? I can’t get into it, or I’d be giving out spoilers, but like I said - very juicy, very entertaining and a very enjoyable read. It’s told from the points of view of several people, and the chapters fly by. The entire book, I was thinking I’d give this four stars. Then, towards the end I decided to raise it to 4.5, after a couple huge twists that I didn’t see coming. THEN, it could have ended several times and still been great, but there were a few closing chapters that revealed even more. That raised it to a rounded-up five star from me. Highly recommend!
(Thank you to Harper 360, C.L. Taylor, and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review.)
This was a captivating, could not put down read. This determined woman just wanting to set things straight and have a relationship with her daughter is in for the fight of her life! The question is WHO are/is the guilty couple?
This is my first read by this author and all I can say is WOW!! The characters Olivia and Dominic....Olivia was in prison convicted of trying to murder her husband Dominic, but was she really the one who did it?
Thank you Netgalley, author and publisher for providing me with my ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Loved everything about this book! I’m a huge domestic thriller fan and this one did not disappoint! Must read!
An utterly unexpected revenge story which once again shows that revenge is a dish best served cold. Couldn’t stop routing for the wife to get closure!
I received an ARC of this book from Harper 360 via NetGalley in exchange for my honest feedback. I was surprised to see that the first 2 reviews that popped up on my Goodreads were negative, as I really enjoyed this one. I read a ton of psychological thrillers but this is my first 5-star review in a while. Another reviewer mentioned it was unrealistic for Dani to be both a police officer & a personal trainer - yes, I guess that is true but it did not affect my enjoyment of the book. I did not predict the villain (always satisfying when I am not a step ahead) and I was glad to see revenge served in the end (can't stand when people get away with wrongdoing). I can't imagine being in Olivia's shoes, in prison for something I did not do and away from my child for so long. Emotional for sure.
Thank you NetGalley and Harper 360 for this e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This is the first book I've read by C.L. Taylor. I was immediately drawn to the cover, and crossed my fingers after requesting it! The Guilty Couple was ridiculously thrilling and filled with drama. I couldn't put this book down! I really enjoyed all the twists and C.L. Taylor's writing was on point! Such an amazing read--highly recommend!
I will be recommending this to my followers who are obsessed with thrillers. This book will have so many rereading.
Addictive and gripping. This book could easily be converted to a TV series and I would totally watch it.
This was a brilliant, extremely well written book, which takes you on a rollercoaster ride from start to finish. It is a perfect advert for "just one more chapter!" I felt as if I got to know all the characters, they were so very well described! I love Smithy! I loved the ending. Highly recommend.
I recently finished the book The Guilty Couple by C.L. Taylor. A brief synopsis of the book is as follows: Five years ago, Olivia Sutherland was convicted of plotting to murder her husband. Now she’s finally free; Olivia has three goals. Repair her relationship with her daughter. Clear her name. And bring down her husband – the man who framed her. I found this thriller to be quite exciting. I didn’t immediately guess ‘who done it,' and it was well-paced. I like the cadence and tone that the author provided, and I always love when books give multiple points of view.
I really enjoyed the secondary characters in this book. Smithy, though with questionable morals, has a good heart, and her friend Ayesha really cared for her and was there for the ups and the downs during this five-year period.
The driving motivation for the character, Olivia, was how can she rebuild her relationship with her daughter after being sent to prison for five years. As a mother myself, I felt her angst with trying to repair this relationship, and I was constantly rooting for them to have a happy ending. It is written in UK English, so if you’re not familiar with that country's vernacular and slang, it may trip you up, but I found it easy to understand, and Google was only a tab away! I enjoyed this book, and I would recommend it! This was the first book I’ve read by this author, but it won’t be the last.
I just reviewed The Guilty Couple by C.L. Taylor. #TheGuiltyCouple #NetGalley

Hot damn!! I loved this one! I legit couldn’t put it down until I’d finished the last gripping page! This was twisty turny and kept me guessing for quite awhile how it was all going to end. Delightfully original! Many thanks to the publisher for this early copy for review
My Review:
Enjoyed!!!! I’ve had this book on my to read list for a while now and I’m so glad I finally got a chance to read it. I couldn’t put this one down. There were so many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. I love it when a book keeps me guessing the whole way through. The characters were just the right amount of evil. The story line kept me intrigued and wanting more. That ending left me shocked and speechless. What more could I ask for in a book. This is not my first rodeo with this author and it certainly won’t be my last. Also, this book is currently on sale in the United States for $1.99. I would definitely recommend it for that price.
In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 4 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️
⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
Fun, fast paced thriller that made for such a quick read for me! I throughly enjoyed this one and it managed to hold my attention despite my lack of desire to read. I needed that. This book was easy to get lost in and just enjoy the story as it unraveled. However I probably won’t read it again.
I went into this book not knowing what to expect. I was expecting your average domestic thriller. What I got was a very unexpected surprise. This was less of a domestic thriller and more of a game of cat and mouse. The last twenty percent of the story had me reeling until the jaw dropping conclusion. There were many twists and turns I never saw coming, adding to this gripping tale of betrayal and revenge. To say it was entertaining is an understatement. Thank you NetGalley and Harper 360 for my copy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The way I LOVED this book! The suspense, the deceit, the lies, the plot twists.... I could not put it down and I'm so sad it's over. Would give more than 5 stars if I could! New C.L. Taylor fan, can't wait to read more!
Fast paced cat and mouse thriller, I loved it. I went in with no expectations and came out with a great read!!
Twisted, compelling, and not your average domestic thriller!
Olivia spent 5 years in prison for something she didn’t do. Now she wants revenge …. On her husband, the man who set her up.
I was hooked from chapter one and really enjoyed the storyline. Thank you #netgalley for a copy of The Guilty Couple.
