Description
In Self Love Poetry, Melody introduces her signature style of dual poetry, with each pair of poems speaking to left brain thinkers and right brain feelers, and takes listeners on a self-love journey that activates not just the left and right brain, but the heart, body, and soul. In The Shift, Godfred again uses a dual style, this time using her poetry pairs to reframe how listeners move through a brave, new, post-pandemic world. Covering themes including authenticity, surrender, gratitude, and love, this unique poetry collection provides an uplifting salve for our collective burnout and inspires a hopeful outlook despite the overwhelming uncertainty of these times.

Many thanks to Netgalley, Andrews McMeel Audio and the author, for the ALC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This audiobook is a collection of all of Melody Godfred beautiful poems, the Self love poetry followed by The Shift.
Self love poetry is exactly what the name suggests, all about self love and how it will transform your life. The most beautiful part of this audiobook is that the book was read by the author herself and the passion and emotion behind her words were perfectly visible. The last part of the book where the poetry was read out with nature sounds noted as for meditation was a treat. When you resonate with the words and the sounds soothe you, its like you are in a different plane of existence with just yourselves. In short, it was beautiful and fulfilling.
Shift is a beautiful collection of poems that shows the growth and shift in perception. The illustrations in the book adds to the words and brings magic to the pages. The poems are in pairs where the poet notes how she felt about certain aspects of life before the pandemic and now in the after.
As a reader the one thing that delights me is seeing development of character and this poetry collection is exactly that the before and after, the then and now. The poignant low flow ideas touched my heart and that is the beauty of poetry. I had read this as an ARC, and chose to also listen to this because it was read by the author herself and I don't regret it at all, nor will you.
When I say, you deserve your own love,
It might seem like I'm saying you've earned it,
But that's not what I'm saying at all,
You are entitled to it,
Your best most abundant love,
without lifting a finger,
without accomplishing one thing,
without being or doing a drop more,
than the day you were born.
I loved this compilation of the author's work. It flowed so well. I also loved that the author narrated the audio. I had so many emotions while listening to this. The poems were so relatable. I really enjoyed this. Thank you to Netgalley for the audio arc in exchange for my honest review.
