Description
In Self Love Poetry, Godfred explores concepts like authenticity, surrender, resilience, gratitude, believing in yourself, and of course, love, through 100 pairs of poems, each dedicated to a central theme. The first poem in each pair is a "thinker" poem that lights up the analytical, more literal, left side of the brain, and the second poem is a companion "feeler" poem that speaks to the creative, more emotional right side of the brain. Combined, the poems electrify the mind, body and soul through a completely unique poetry experience that inspires each of us to embrace all parts of ourselves. This empowering poetry book will not only engage you to think and feel, but will make you feel seen, show you how to love yourself, and encourage you to seek out the hope and beauty in the world … and in yourself. It’s the perfect gift for yourself or someone you love, especially after a most difficult year.

I love poetry. I am really enjoying the audio version of poetry. This book really hits lots of emotions of many levels. It resonated with me. I really enjoyed this book
Many thanks to Netgalley, Andrews McMeel Audio and the author, for the ALC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Self love poetry is exactly what the name suggests, all about self love and how it will transform your life. The most beautiful part of this audiobook is that the book was read by the author herself and the passion and emotion behind her words were perfectly visible. The last part of the book where the poetry was read out with nature sounds noted as for meditation was a treat. When you resonate with the words and the sounds soothe you, its like you are in a different plane of existence with just yourselves. In short, it was beautiful and fulfilling.
This is a unique book of poetry that focuses on self love for those that are considered thinkers and feelers. These poems were relatable to me. I loved that the author would write one poem for thinkers and the same for feelers in a different way. I loved that the audio was narrated by the author. Thank you to Netgalley for the audio arc in exchange for my honest review.
I love when an author, especially a poetry writer, puts on the page exactly what I am thinking. It is truly a gift. This collection of poetry truly spoke to my soul.
The author herself narrates the audiobook which gives the audiobook a poetry reading feel. Grab a cup of coffee or tea, sit down outside, and listen to this audio book. It is perfect for the crisp cool weather.
WOW. I could relate to so many of these poems. It is a great reminder that we need to flip the script on how we see things and manifest things for ourselves.
The poems tell stories that are highly relatable, and they do that with powerful words that awaken compassion towards ourselves and that don't feel like the same old story about self-love.
I really loved that the author herself is the narrator of her own poetry collection and I enjoyed listening to her voice that conveys emotion, passion and dedication, and is a very pleasant voice too. I think the audiobook gives the possibility not to focus too much on one of the sides of the book (which reflects how the two sides of the brain work, in fact "on the left side of the book are poems that light up the analytical, literal, left side of the brain and on the right side are poems that bring your creative side to life", as the description reads) and can better reach our heart in a deep way. Nevertheless I think I'm going to buy the printed book so that I can read a few lines here and then, when I need to.
I only wish this collection was not so explicitly addressed to women because I feel everyone, independently of their gender, should listen to or read these poems: each and every person deserves to feel worthy and to be reminded of it.
Wow, where do I even begin? Self Love Poetry: For Thinkers & Feelers is a collection of poetry written by Melody Gofred, focused on self-love - what it means, how to feel it, the journey around it, and so much more. It is written in a way that is simple yet so resonant and so powerful. It is raw and real and beautiful, and I cried multiple times because of just how desperately I needed to hear the words and how hard they hit me.
The audiobook is narrated by Melody Godfred herself, and it made the reading/listening experience even more powerful and impactful. Her narrative voice and actual voice is soft yet strong, and it made me feel so much that I couldn't stop listening and never wanted it to be over. It felt like a friend was talking to me, and comforting me, and it gave me so many reminders that I will carry with me. I think I found it at the perfect time in my life as well, but I can't wait to get a physical copy so I can highlight all the lines that mean the most to me.
I would absolutely recommend this if you're looking for a book about self-love and want something tender, soft, and lovely to read. It is simple in a lot of ways, and I don't think that will work for everyone, but it didn't feel like basic advice you see on Pinterest. While the writing is simple, there is something about it that is magical, and I think it's going to resonate with so many readers.
