Description
GET BAKED in Leeds shot to fame during 'Sprinklegate', when its founder, Rich Myers, brilliantly capitalized on the banning of his use of US sprinkles. Rather than going quietly, Rich declared he would never use the inferior British variety and boycotted all sprinkles until he had created a UK version that does the job to his satisfaction!
Expen$ive Sprinkles has now launched and they pair perfectly with GET BAKED's bold range of desserts including cookies, brownies, cakes and pies which are all high on the taste and indulgence spectrum and definite crowd pleasers.
This book brings you 40 of those most popular creations, including Raspberry Glazed Donut Cookie, Lemon Meringue Pie, Mr Pistachio, Purple Haze, S'Mores Brownies, Campfire and Birthday Truffles, culminating in the famous ‘Bruce’, a 24 layer giant consisting of chocolate cake and ganache, that people travel far and wide to buy.
Written in Rich’s trademark style, this book offers a fun and accessible way to enjoy these unique recipes, meaning bakers of all abilities will enjoy the tasty treats and sumptuous creations from this increasingly popular brand.

I just downloaded this delicious book and I can’t wait to devour these recipes! S’mores, Truffles, Brownies, and Doughnuts. The recipes seem easy to follow along. This will be a household staple. Thank you NetGalley!
5 stars ! Who would’ve thought that I will laugh reading a cooking book ? I really loved it from the beginning to the end ! The recipe are nice and seems delicious and easy enough to do. But the best must be the explanations within the book that made me laugh and enjoy it. I think I need to buy this book for myself and people around that loves baking.
100% recommend , looking forward to try the recipe myself!
I'm sorry to say this, but if vou're not from the UK then vou're missing out on one of the yummiest dessert shops. Rich is the male version of a Karen & his banter is top drawer.
If you are from the UK, then you can actually order his desserts online or just take a trip to Leeds. Good luck choosing though!!
Or if you're feeling adventurous and want to take your hand to a little baking then get this on pre-order.
Released March 4th 2023 in UK & Australia, later available in April for US & rest of the world.
Baking is not my jam, but these aren't as monstrous looking as his famous Bruce cake.
Well Done Rich @getbakeduk @netgalley
Wow! What an absolutely stunning book. I've now pre-ordered because I need to own it!
I've followed this bakery on Instagram for a while and even travelled to purchase the infamous 'Bruce' so I was overjoyed when I saw it here.
The photography is stunning, every page was a feast for the eyes. I really can't wait for it to arrive so I can attempt to bake everything. I'm not very good, but after having the opportunity to take a look, I didn't hesitate in jumping on to purchase.
Hilarious entertaining cookbook Rich Meyers personality shines through. He is funny sarcastic and a fantastic baker.Gorgeous pictures and so many recipes to try.#netgalley #quartobooks
I've never heard of Rich Myers or Get Baked, the Leeds bakery he owns, so I had no expectations when I opened this cook book. Measurements are all listed by weight since this lends itself to accuracy in baking and oven temps are written both in Celsius and Fahrenheit. The book is organized into the several different recipe categories: chocolate, nuts, fruit, spice, sugar, and Bruce. Bruce is a single multilayered chocolate cake recipe but definitely deserves to be in a category of its own!
GET BAKED is full of riffs on recipes like s'mores brownies, Banoffee pie, and birthday cake. With some cookbooks I've purchased in the past, there's been quite a few out there recipes that require ingredients that I wouldn't really otherwise buy but the ones in this book are mainly familiar baking staples and feel very accessible to make. The instructions are written in a casual yet technical manner with a fun sense of humor. Excited to bake my way through this book!
Cheeky and chock full of excellent recipes. A recommended purchase for collections where cookbooks are popular.
A truly indulgent cookbook for sweet treats. Easy to follow recipes with glorious mouthwatering colour photos throughout to tempt the palate. I hadn't come across Rich Myers before but if I ever find myself in Leeds I shall have to sample a Bruce, not sure I will bake one with that many layers! Quantities given in grams and imperial ounces plus oven temperatures in degrees F and C. The sprinkles remind me of my childhood when they were brightly coloured instead of insipid as were Smarties which suffered the same fate.
I can't wait to actually try the recipes to share with friends and family and shall be certainly be buying my daughter a copy of the book.
Even the photos are decadent! This book has so many delicious looking recipes! And some unusual ones. Like blueberry pancake cookies - I must say that the photo made me drool and decide that this recipe must be tried - along with nearly every recipe in the book. Don't let a child see this book because every recipe with those gorgeous sprinkles will need to be made.
I did have to look up digestive crackers (translation to American is graham crackers) although you can buy real digestive crackers in many grocery stores. The other thing that we may not have in the American kitchens is "superfine" sugar, which can be purchased in some stores, or created in your food processor.
Every recipe has been presented in grams and ounces, as well as degrees C and degrees F.
For the baker who is looking for out of the ordinary but that also appeal to everyone's eyes and taste buds.
Buy me a ticket to Leeds, pronto! I want to taste all the treats offered up at GET BAKED Bakery. Sadly this is not in my budget this year, so I am happy to have access to these scrumptious recipes in the GET BAKED cookbook written by the creator of these delicious delights, Rich Myers.
The first thing that drew me to this cookbook was the bright and colorful cover. Then I read in the description something about a "Sprinklegate" and I just had to know more. So thankfully I was given the chance to preview this book by NetGalley and the publisher White Lion Publishing and I will be forever grateful.
I had so much fun reading this cookbook thanks to the humor and wit of Rich Myers. Not only are you presented with page after page of easy to follow recipes, you get a little whimsy within each presentation. To top it all off, whether it be with ganache, merengue or dazzling sprinkles, each recipes is photographed in full page splendor. I wanted to lift each one up and take a bite.
From the moment I downloaded this book, I began to devour each sweet page. As I was waiting in line at school pickup, I found myself laughing at yet another funny comment from the cook. I have never been more engaged with a cookbook (a cook book for heavens sake). Next thing I knew I was searching for pen and paper, getting ready my shopping list of ingredients. Recipe after recipe left me saying "I'll start with this one". The biggest challenge with this cookbook is picking just one recipe to try. So from here on out I declare Binge Baking a thing.
Add Leeds to my travel bucket list because I cannot wait to taste these desserts in person. My thanks go out to NetGalley and White Lion Publishing for providing me with an ARC of this cookbook. I am leaving this review here voluntarily.
If you are aware of Sprinklegate then you have heard of Get Baked Bakery in the UK. If you aren't familiar then the story is Rich Myers got busted for using US made sprinkles in his baked goods that are considered illegal in the UK due to a specific dye. He was using the US sprinkles instead of the UK ones because he felt they were superior. He made several snarky posts about it on Facebook and thus Sprinklegate was born.
Well now he has written a cookbook. And his writing in the recipes are just as funny as his commentary during Sprinklegate. Probably one of the most entertaining cookbooks I have ever read. And the recipes look delicious. I'm pretty stoked to try the pink grapefruit bars, banoffee pie, and strawberry limeade pie to name just a few. There is a beautifully photographed picture of each recipe that will make you wish the book came with samples.
I'm gonna have a few problems to solve though before I attempt a recipe. I'm gonna have to figure out what digestive biscuits are as well as a few other ingredients (caster sugar I'm looking at you).
I'm not sure we have these in the US. And every single ingredient is listed by weight. I rarely feel like even measuring my flour by weight...I don't want to be weighing my eggs. But the desserts look so yummy that maybe I'm ready to try weighing all my ingredients like a professional.

Tons of fun in this book - interesting and unusual sorts of recipes and an entertaining tone. Will I try to make a Bruce? I just don't know but it is oh so tempting!
What a good cookbook!
I love baking and creating something for my family to enjoy and with these recipe’s I can do that. 🍰
This is a cookbook I would buy myself! And the images for every recipe are beautiful!
I’m definitely making the cookies soon! 🍪
Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group – White Lion and Netgalley for sending me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I follow the author on Instagram and this book screams him and his “brand” on every single page. I absolutely love the jokes, the subtle (and not-so-subtle) sarcasm throughout the book. Generally, recipe books just make me want to quickly flip through to get to the recipe I want, but in this case, I had a lot of fun reading the descriptions.
And oh my, the photos are stunning. The recipes are easy to follow, and I can’t wait to slowly bake my way through this book.
Not only are the recipes actually good and easy to follow, the book its self is so aesthetic that even if I didn’t plan on using it, I would still buy it to decorate with.
Back to the goods though, these recipes will have you RUNNING to the kitchen to start baking. My mouth was watering just glancing over the pages.
"Get Baked" by Rich Myers is a fantastic baking book. The recipes range from simple to very complex but the instructions are very clear, making all bakes in this book achievable. Each recipe is accompanied by a picture that has been beautifully styled, with such clear attention to detail that they capture the whimsical character of the finished product.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Brilliant book- if you’ve never had the pleasure of a slice of Bruce then you’ve never lived (…near Leeds)
The recipes are of varying difficulty but are all straight forward to follow. The pictures are simple but really show the desserts off beautifully, I love that there is a picture for each recipe- I hate it when you have to guess what it’s supposed to look like. So far I have made cookies and brownies but am definitely going to try some of the pies. One day I’ll attempt to make my own Bruce, honest!
I am SO happy I was able to get an ARC of this! Myself and my husband love going to Get Baked for a treat, and I can't wait to try out some of the recipes myself (although I doubt mine will be as good, and we'll end up going down the road to the shop anyway). We've been around since the original days and it has been great to see the business grow. Informative and funny - what more could you want in a recipe book!
Such a fun baking book. I'm an avid baker, with many, many baking books, and this one did not disappoint. With a mix of easier and more complex recipes, straightforward instructions with clear explanations, and beautiful pictures, this is a book anyone can find a favourite recipe in. I appreciated the explanation of equipment that might be needed, and really loved the colours within the book and the beautiful photography.
Loved.
Thank you for my eARC of this book! I absolutely love the recipes and layout of this book, I also love that every recipe has a picture. I think I will genuinely try at least 90% of the recipes in this book which rarely happens and I can’t wait to get a physical copy.!
Get Baked contains amazing recipes from the Get Baked bakery in Leeds. Owner Rich Myers is not only a baking genius but a marketing god. Following a ‘to-do’ with Trading Standards a couple of years ago, Myers used the publicity to capitalise on the sensations that are his baked goods.
This book is crammed full of all the things you’d find in the shop (or on Instagram, if you can only admire them from afar) Not least Bruce - the 12 layer chocolate cake. It is beautifully presented, packed with Rich Myer’s style, well written and shows an absolute confidence in showcasing the recipes for what Get Baked actually sells.
By far the best book of baked goods I’ve seen. Excited to get stuck into the recipes but even just looking at the pictures brings on a sugar rush.
This is a great recipe book, full of pictures, which I love. Most of the recipes are simple, so even the novice baker could do them. There’s also some different recipes which is good, not the same old sweet treats.
This is such a fun cookbook! The recipes are well written and the photos are beautiful. This book made me so hungry! I can’t wait to try some of these recipes.
Really.well written recipe book - clear recipes, good descriptions and a good amount of the author's character and wit snuck in.
The banoffee pie and lemon merengue pie in particular look really good, will be trying those two and the salted chocolate cookie recipes soon!
So many good sounding desserts in this cookbook! I like how it was divided and there were lots of great pictures to show the reader/baker what the dessert should look like!
A fabulous baking cookbook! From the world famous ‘Bruce’ to *those* sprinkles, this book has it all. What a fantastic range of delicious, yet simple to make recipes. It has very clear, simple and easy to follow instructions to help guide you through each bake. I love the mouth-wateringly delicious photographs that accompany the various bakes in the book. Not only do they look simply stunning, but it helps you know what you’re aiming for. I also love Rich Myers’ witty introductions to each recipe, and his no nonsense humour. There’s a chapter at the beginning, explaining everything you’re going to need, and why.
