Description

Ryheart is a low-rank member of the hunter’s guild, removing minor pests for little profit; a role far from the heroic quests he had dreamt of. Desperately in need of coin, he stumbles across a mysterious fae within the cobbled streets of Londaya. The benign creature makes a deal with him; if he provides her shelter, she will help with his money problems. Surely, he thinks, such a simple deal can’t go wrong?

Unwittingly he finds himself tied to Fali, the mysterious creature, and is dragged into a dangerous world of magic he is scant prepared to deal with. Can he trust his strange new companion and find a way out of the danger he finds himself in? Or will he fall victim to creatures he never even imagined before the debt collectors can even find him?

A big thanks to NetGalley and The Book Guild for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Surprisingly a new comfort read, I will certainly be re-reading this one for years to come.

The Fae and the Hunter by T.E. Mountain is a fantasy novel that follows Ryheart, a low ranking member of the hunter's guild, who is mostly known for taking the smaller side quests instead of the grand heroic ones. But when he runs low on coin, he stumbled upon a lonely fae who will pay him in exchange for shelter. Thinking nothing of it, Ryheart agrees. And is quickly wronged as he is suddenly tied to the fae and is dragged into a magical world, where he has to rely on his new companion to survive.

I absolutely loved Ryheart, with all of my (Ry)heart, *Da dum tsssss*. Especially in how goofy and loveable he was. And the fast pace of the plot, kept me on the edge of my seat! But what I loved most was the dynamic between Ryheart and Fali, it was 'chef's kiss!' I will certainly be looking forward to Mountain's next release!

Firstly I would like to thank the wonderful author, publisher and Netgalley for granting me an advanced reading copy in exchange for an honest review.

The Fae and The Hunter is a tale of unlikely allies who find themselves bound tighter than expected following a magical oath which gradually turns into friendship.

This is a fantastic, wholesome story of a soft self deprecating magical hunter, a long forgotten Fae queen and a cocky, self assured government agent who’s stories quickly intertwine until they find themselves on the road together heading towards a great magical disturbance which threatens their town and country and possibly the world as they know it.

Despite being a magical being hunter, Hyheart has a lot to learn but he does so with a more hands on approach (much to his dismay!) and encounters dopplegangers, vampires, witches and dark entities just to name a few.
I really liked the fact that this book is about growth and friendship and had no romantic elements or interests.

For me this was a warm, cosy read which wraps up nicely as a standalone, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this book and would definitely recommend!

Disclaimer: I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Fae and the Hunter is a story about an unusual partnership and unlikely heroes. Ryheart is a low level member of the the hunters guild. Barely scraping by on the measly stipends he gets from his lowly kills and captures, Ryheart is in a rough place financially and socially and needs some sort of spark in his life.

Fali is a super powerful Fae that needs sanctuary in the human realm. There is dark magic that needs investigating but before she can do that, Fali needs some human help.

After agreeing to work together on a high paying guild hunt, Ryheart and Fali head off on an adventure of epic proportions.

This was an easy read with an easy to understand magic system and world building. There were some parts that dragged a bit but ultimately it was a decent read. This is a magic/adventure read with no romance or drama. I’m giving this one 3 stars and would recommend for fantasy readers looking for a light, quick read!

Thank you to Net Galley and the Book Guild for the opportunity to read rage and review this arc which is now available!

This was a hysterically funny and fun book. I was laughing out loud at parts. The story was quick paced, laced with satire and honestly it was refreshing to read a fantasy book that wasn’t high stakes but just hysterically funny.

The Fae and the Hunter is the story of Ryeheart, a down on his luck bounty hunter facing ruin, when he meets Fali and enters into an oath to help each other. Fali is a mysterious magical creature and the pair set off on a hunt which soon turns into a more complicated adventure than either of them had anticipated.

This was a fast paced, interesting story. The range of magical creatures that emerged throughout the story was fascinating and added something different to other fantasy stories I have read.

The character and friendship development between Ryeheart and Fali was delightful. Fali is a funny, flighty character who made me chuckle. Ryeheart has a good heart and proved himself to be a loyal friend.

There is a lot that happens in this story and I would have liked to see a bit more depth to some of the events which at times occurred speedily before the story moved on to the next one.

All in all a delightful book and an enjoyable read.

Hello, firstly I would like to thank you for giving me the chance to read the book. I found The Fae and the Hunter an easy and fun read. There are some patriarchal stereotypes even though two of the protagonists were essentially women. But that did not ruin the book for me as we still live in a patriarchal world and we learn to be better every day. Overall it was enjoyable and light to read. I liked the characters and the world-building. There is a lot of potential for the story development and I would definitely read the second book if and when it's published.

Thank you NetGalley and Author for this book, so I’m going to give an honest review.
For me this book wasn’t a total 4 stars, but more like 3.5. Besides the fact it was a great book, I admit that sometimes was hard to keep reading.
This is not a book with a romantic love story, but a very enjoyable friendship between Ryheart, a not really heroic hunter , and a Fae, Fali. Trying to help each other, they get to be in a very complicated adventure xD
If you are looking a nice and funny Fantasy book, this is the book for you.

I enjoyed reading The Fae and the Hunter. It was nicely paced, clearly written, and full of engaging characters. It was open ended enough to allow for a sequel, yet was a self-contained, satisfying story. Fantasy stories are frequently used as a means to explore real life issues in less threatening settings. This one explored prejudice and responsibilities. I look forward to reading anything else the author writes.

A big thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for granting me an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

The Fae and the Hunter is a fun, fast-paced story about a struggling bounty Hunter and a powerful fae who find themselves accidentally linked by a mild oath gone awry. This story isn’t about romance but instead a budding friendship filled with all kinds of quirks and heartfelt moments as they venture on an exciting journey together.

While I overall enjoyed the story, I felt myself yearning for more throughout most of the book. I felt like I was only skimming the surface of this world when I really wanted to plunge in deeper. The world the author builds is alluring and intriguing, and I wish there was more explanation and history shared with the reader, especially earlier on in the book. I’m not sure if it was intentional, but the only way the reader received information about the world was through words spoken by the characters; while an interesting tactic, I’m not sure it worked for me as I felt like I was “left out of the loop” for most of the book and didn’t quite understand the scope of the worldly issues occurring.

I also wish there was more descriptive imagery, but that’s more of a biased comment by me as I’m a big fan of very flowery prose. I quite often found myself losing my mental imagery throughout the book— I feel like I was rarely given enough information to form a clear picture in my head of the characters and their surroundings, which was disappointing since I truly enjoyed the characters and their journey and wish I could’ve formed a closer connection to them with more developed imagery.

Despite all of my nitpicking, I very much enjoyed this book and hope to see more from this author!

Thank you NetGalley for this book!

This was definitely a 3.5/4 star book as there were great aspects but also slow, hard to continue reading bits.

I originally thought this would end up being romantic between Ryheart and Fali but was a nice change to be a friendship!

Fully of complicated adventure, bargains with the Fae and a hunters dreams of being heroic. If you like simple and funny fantasy give this a read!

A really fun read. A great fantasy novel featuring humor and friendship. Fali the Fae and Ryheart the Hunter go on an adventure to vanquish evil. Along the way, a new friend is found in Olyra, and assumptions and prejudices are tested. The story stands on its own but is open-ended enough for more adventures in the future.

Thank you to NetGalley, The Book Guild, and T. E. Mountain for the eARC.

Firstly, i would like to say thank you to the author, Negalley and the publisher to allow me to read this book. I found this book very intriguing as there seemed to be a lot going on. Most of all i liked the friendship that grew between the two main characters, and the humor that they had with each other was quite entertaining. As the story developed i couldn't help but want to keep reading to find out what was happening. There was something about the whole plot/storyline which made me curious as i read. I am grateful to have been able to read something from this author, as i hadn't before, as i am going to keep an eye out for more of the authors work after reading this book,.

thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy of the fae and the hunter. This was good and pretty funny. I feel as though it needed a little bit more brush up work but it was good.

I loved reading this book, the pacing was nice and the characters and perspectives were well writen!

Finally following an avarage human adventurer on an epic quest is fun, even though he does have the support of a powerful friend he gets into trouble he has to fight his way out of himself. I apprichiate a strong main character but this main was a breath of fresh air. Fali (the fae) is also a good character, very human yet still does give a fae vibe.

The language is simple but not boring or repetitive. I love the chapter lengths as you can do a long sitting busting through a bunch or just know you can finnish a chapter on your daily comunte.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The story is about Fali, a faerie, who encounters a hunter with whom she strikes a deal. But that deal.. goes awfully wrong! So it turns out she's bound to this human hunter and together they will have to find a way to undo that bond. While on a quest to do so, they encounter a lot of dangerous situations and fall from one problem into the other. They have to go against all odds to save the human and faerie world!

I loved how the character development was written out. The growth of the relationship is subtle, but when you remember the story only takes place in just a few days, it's astonishing how fast the relationship changes into something beautiful.

I hope there will be a second book because I'm really curious how the story will unfold after the final quest in this book.

The book was published in March this year, so you can check this book out now! If you like faeries mixed with the human world and here and there somewhat more spiritual things, this is your book! The book is written by T.E. Mountain. I gave the book 4 stars.

Thanks, Netgalley and publisher for the opportunity to read and review!
Very enjoyable fantasy novel where the main character are literally forced to work together, so this kind of interaction and relationship is always really intriguing to read! Especially when you see how unwilling and ugly it begins, and how it transforms into something amazing and beautiful! Definitely recommend!

this was a very enjoyable read! most fae stories nowadays are spicy romances that don’t really exploit the fairy vibe or folklore associated with it so i’m always happy to find a book that does use it. it was also refreshing to not have a romance in a fantasy book, not that i hate it, but it just feels different and allows the author to explore different types of relationships in depth, here some sort of companionship/friendship between our fae and hunter. loved the vibe and really interested to read more by this author! 4.5⭐️

The Fae and the Hunter was a delightful read. I appreciated that it focused more on the folklore and companionship type of relationship. It was quite refreshing. Too many books these days focus on the romance but not the story. I thought the character development was really thought out.

Thank you for the ARC to #NetGalley, The Book Guild ad T.E. Mountain. All the above opinions are my own.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers and of course the author for gifting me this advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, brilliant character development between Fali (a fae) and Ryheart (a mortal human hunter) when Fali strikes a deal with Ryheart that backfires when she ends up bound to him so they have to set out on an adventure to find a way to reverse it.
