I love a good devotional book for myself but when I can find one for my children that's even better. God said, "Let the little children come to me." What a great way to share his word with littles. My children go to a parochial elementary school, I loved reading and looking through this devotional as I was finding one to use for our fast approaching summer break. This will be perfect. Wonderful, brightly colored illustrations. Simple to understand text. I love the "Did you knows?" on each page. This is a hit!
I’ve had my eye on this devotional for kids for a while now. My daughter is 6 and the perfect age for it. This is a different format than the Bible books we’ve read in the past or are currently reading. But for some reason, this really didn’t keep her attention at all. And I can’t figure out why. It’s beautifully illustrated, it has all of the typical Bible stories she’s used to, but is just wasn’t something she liked. I suspect maybe it’s the wrong timing, so I would love to attempt this with her again in a few years.
The format of this is a pretty standard format for a Christian devotion. There is a main verse, followed by commentary, more verses to explore, tips for prayer and little facts to keep them learning. It’s wonderfully educational and I understand why it is so popular.
I’m really glad that I’ve read this and looked through this because I do think this is something I will eventually add to our Bible book collection. It’s just not quite the right timing yet. But I think most families with kids will like this. It’s a daily devotional that is quick and informative. And I really appreciate the little prayer tips to help give kids some ideas to add into their prayer life.
Thank you to NetGalley and Our Daily Bread Publishing for the advanced copy. This review is my honest opinion.
I received this as an early copy for my daughter! I highly inquisitive child with a lot of additional questions. Simply and to the point and she and I loved the author s take on classic Bible stories. I have already pre ordered and my daughter will enjoy it for years to come!
What a great devotional for school age kids! I love the extra miscellaneous facts on each page and that it basically sums up a section of the bible each day, in easy to understand language. The only advice I might give would be to add a little bit more interactional elements to each day, but otherwise it is great!
A fun, engaging devotional geared towards 6-10 year olds.
Lots of color & pictures on each page make it exciting for kids & keeps their attention.
Each devotional is short & to the point & only one page, so it won't take a lot of time, but should give your child something to think about.
Each page also has a Bible verse to read & "Did you know" fact, as well as prompts to pray about/for.
The book is Solid Biblically & has devotionals for a whole year.
I was able to preview this ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
These books are not to be missed. The best simple devotions for kids that are growing in faith. They are easy enough to follow from my 3 year old to my 9 year old and all ages in between. The devotions are simple and build on the foundations of faith. The scripture is short but impactful for every child. This would be a perfect gift for a child and even for the bookshelf for a baby gift.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for providing us an advanced reading copy of this kid-friendly devotional. I like that each day we can read a short Bible story summary. On each page, it gives an idea on what to pray for that day (I.e. thank God for the food he provides), and a fun fact (I.e. drinking water can make your face glow). We haven’t finished this book yet because we are reading one page per day, but we look forward to its publication date.
I had the privilege to read this book off of netgalley for my honest review. This is a devotional book for children. Each page has o cute colorful picture, the devotional, a verse that can be used for memorizing, a little section for did you know science or history fact, a more research section with bible section to read, and a section to help with praying to God. This would be a good devotional, but it uses 5 different Bibles. I really don’t recommend this devotional.

We were so impressed with this wonderful book to help our children learn all about the bible. This book has 365 devotions that will help us learn the stories of the Bible. With stories and verses you can learn about God’s amazing love for you from Genesis to Revelation. What a wonderful way to help children understand God’s love, who Jesus is and all of the amazing things He did for us. This book is a great way for your child to learn on their own but will make an even better way to share with family and learn together. Each devotion is dated but you can go at your own pace and however you like. Each devotion includes a scripture, story, a Talk to God suggestion and even a Explore More so that conversation and thoughts can continue and be explored. Adorable art throughout the book helps add to the comforting feeling this devotional gives. We really loved this and look forward to continuing to learn and grow from it.
This devotional is very good for kids to use. My daughter learned a lot about the Bible from it. I got a free copy from Netgalley for an honest review.
Easy to read and packed with truth, Our Daily Bread for Kids devotional walks children through the Old and New Testaments, showing how the entire Bible is one big story of God’s plan to save His people through His Son. The Bible story-based devotions are interspersed with thoughts on how to live a life following God and loving others. Fun facts and engaging, colorful illustrations make this book a delight to read. I highly recommend!
*Thank you to NetGalley and Our Daily Bread Publishing for the complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This book was so adorable, I loved everything about it, the illustrations were so well done, they suited the book perfectly, the story was amazing as well. I’m sure the kids are going to be just as enthralled with this amazing book as I was. I will definitely recommend! Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this early copy
I grew up with Our Daily Bread devotionals being a part of family devotion time when I was visiting my Grandparents’ House. As I have grown Our Daily Bread and other books from its publishing house have inspired my Christian Walk. I’m constantly on the lookout for devotions to help disciple families and kids and I have been excited to see the devotions they have come out with over the last few years. Our Daily Bread for Kids: 365 Devotions from Genesis to Revelation, Volume 2 by Crystal Bowman and Teri McKinley is one of these such books. Our Daily Bread for Kids: 365 Devotions from Genesis to Revelation, Volume 2 is a great way to introduce snippets from various books in the Bible from Genesis to Revelations. Having a devotion for each day of the year, each devotion entry has a “Talk to God” portion, a “Did You Know?” portion, a “Explore More” portion, and a sentence/quote about an attribute of God/Jesus that corresponds with what the devotion is talking about.
What I love most about Our Daily Bread for Kids: 365 Devotions from Genesis to Revelation, Volume 2 by Crystal Bowman and Teri McKinley is the wide range of books of the Bible it covers. I love how it covers almost every book of the Bible. Ms. Bowman and Ms. McKinley write each entry that kids of all ages can understand without watering down the Truth that it’s presenting. I love the facts that are brought out in the “Did You Know?” portion, especially the part that talks about Fields of the Wood. I love how all the components–“Talk to God”, “Did You Know?”, “Explore More”, and the sentence/quote about an attribute of God/Jesus–fit well with each entry. I believe each entry will help the reader learn something new as well as give them a longing to see more of what was talked about in the devotion by encouraging them to dig into the Bible for themselves. I highly recommend Our Daily Bread for Kids: 365 Devotions from Genesis to Revelation, Volume 2 by Crystal Bowman and Teri McKinley to your family and friends to help you in your Walk with The Lord!
I would like to thank NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. My review is also on Goodreads and my blog, Leslie's Library Escape.
This devotional is beautifully illustrated and well written. The little facts on each page along with the “talk to God” snippets are a wonderful addition to help kids live out the reading. I also really enjoy the questions that guide kids to look into scripture for answers. I think this would be a wonderful addition to any homeschool for a Bible!
Wonderful Children's Devotional
Our Daily Bread for Kids is a wonderful children's devotional. Each daily devotional includes an idea for prayer, a related fun fact, an idea for exploring more of the topic, and a positive message that wraps up the passage. Each devotional also includes a colorful illustration. This easy-to-read devotional states that it is appropriate for ages 6–10 years old. However, if the child is not in that age range, let the child's level of understanding be the guide for appropriateness rather than the age.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book. All comments and opinions are voluntary and completely my own.
Our Daily Bread for Kids is a devotional that follows the Bible in 365 days and breaks the Bible down into bite size pieces for little kids. Each entry has a verse, brief description, fun fact and a question. This is great for younger kids’ attention spans but also good for the older kids to think about. The illustrations are colorful and go well with the devotion.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion.
This was such a good daily devotional for kids. Each day was a short devotional that kept my son engaged and interested. My 7 year old son loved it!
This book is great for anyone, no matter how young or old. It is also great for new believers as they learn about scripture and become more familiar with some of the stories in the Bible.
Each day contains a Bible verse, followed by a short explanation of how that verse pertains to the larger picture of God and the Bible. Each day also includes an additional question about another Bible verse so you can explore more. There is a Talk to God prompt every day that helps your little one get into the habit of prayer and talking to God. Every day also includes a fact, whether it is about the Bible or about the world. My favorite part of the day is the memory verse for every day. It is simple, and gets straight to the point about that day’s scripture passage.
I've been using the "Our Daily Bread For Kids" devotional with my children for a few years. It is an excellent, quick daily devotional perfect for the whole family to enjoy over breakfast or around the dinner table.
This second edition book is dated from January 1 - December 31 and the daily Scriptures go generally in order through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Visually, the format for each day's devotional is colorful and attractive.
Each daily devotional features:
- Title
- Bible verse for the day (full text)
- A devotional story related to the Bible verse and practically explaining it to children
- "Talk To God" section with a short prayer
- "Explore More" section with other verses you or your children can look up and read from the Bible
- "Did You Know" section with a fun fact about nature, science, etc.
- Short take-away sentence for kids to remember what they learned about
I highly recommend this book to those in search of a family devotional. It can be shortened for younger children, and expounded upon for older children. The Bible is the focal point of each devotional entry, and the message is clear but concise.
I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
