I truly enjoyed reading this
book by Karen Schaler.
Her new story is inspired
by A Christmas Carol.
It captivated me from the very first page. A heartwarming,
moving & engaging Christmas romance. Wonderful characters
I could believe in.
When an awful tragedy occurred on Christmas Eve, Alexis's life was never the same. She closed her heart off to love & life. She only needed one thing to survive. But will something or someone be able to open it?
This is a must-read Christmas story that leaves you feeling good.

I thought this story sounded familiar when I read the synopsis. It turns out that it was adapted from one of my favorite Lifetime Christmas movies starring Toni Braxton. I didn’t know Karen schaler wrote the story originally so it’s cool to make the connection. I’m not sure I really needed to read an adaptation of the movie seeing as I’ve seen the movie several times but the book was still a wonderful escape from the heat of July, and also served as a great palate cleanser based on the types of books I’ve been reading lately. Still I hope next Christmas season Schaler will write a completely brand new story to share with the world.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me. Anyone who loves cheesy Christmas movies will love this book!!!

I love reading Karen’s books, they are easy reads with happy endings. And really, who doesn’t like a happy ending read for Christmas.
I loved the Scrooge feel of this book and the return of the old past, present, future on Christmas Eve.
Alexis starts off the book with being a Scrooge. She’s not nasty, just full of pain from memories and then so focused on her work that she forgets the little things in life.
Justin is her driver, her loves Christmas, but also loves Alexis!
Enjoyed this book thoroughly.

Inspired by Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol,' the story follows Alexis, a woman who has known much hardship, particularly around the holiday season. In her loss, she protects herself by closing her heart and focusing on the tangible elements of life....only to miss out on true beauty and love. As another Christmas rolls around, she receives late-night visits that help her do some soul searching and begin to reinvent her life. This could be a cute holiday movie.

Karen Schaler delivers an early Christmas treat in the form of her latest novel, Every Day Is Christmas. A modern, re-imagined take on Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol, this one spreads joy from beginning to end.

Alexis has never once celebrated Christmas in the years since her parents were tragically taken from her in an accident during the festive season. Vowing to work hard and build a successful life for herself in spite of being alone, Alexis builds a financial empire that rivals the very best. This modern day Scrooge will soon realize, though, that all the riches in the world mean nothing if you don't have anyone to share them with.

I love Karen Schaler's books, and always look forward to sinking into one as an early holiday treat. Once again, this latest is as cosy as being wrapped in a cashmere blanket while nibbling on a shortbread cookie. And I am absolutely going to add crushed candy cane to my favourite recipe!

Many thanks to NetGalley for an ARC of this title.

I’ve read and enjoyed Karen Schaler’s previous holiday novels, and this new book, based on the script she wrote for the Lifetime movie, was a wonderful experience.

Inspired by the timeless masterpiece, Dickens’s A Christmas Carol, “Every Day is Christmas” offers a rollercoaster of emotions!

At first, Alexis Taylor comes across as the worst boss one could get. A combination of Scrooge and the Grinch who’s tone deaf to her employee’s aspirations for a healthy work-life balance. Considering how far the lead character has to go to redeem herself, I was seriously wondering how Schaler’s would pull off a credible character development and actually make me appreciate this really off-putting character. And she did not disappoint! I thoroughly enjoyed this festive, feel-good read about second chances.

Alexis’s journey to realizing the errors of her ways and bettering herself was a heartwarming tale. The whole background story about her parents was so poignant. In the end, everything ties well together, the story is told with an entertaining, consistent pace. I also loved how the author solved the Marc/Justin situation. The ending was romantic and satisfying, giving all the cozy vibes.

Boasting a beautiful cover, Every Day is Christmas is an uplifting must-read for the holiday season!

Every Day Is Christmas by Karen Schaler

From Karen Schaler comes this new heartfelt holiday do-over story about second chances and believing anything is possible at Christmas.

I enjoyed this book, inspired by Charles Dicken’s, A Christmas Carol. The characters were well-played. It was a nice, relaxing read. It made you yearn for the love of Christmas.

Once again, a Karen Schaler Christmas book that is pure Christmas.

I really enjoyed all the Christmas activities, decorations and food. They put me in the Christmas spirit, which is quite a feat since I read it in July!

Definitely recommended for those looking for a heartwarming Christmas read,

A modern day retelling of A Christmas Carol. Very well done with wonderful characters and a perfectly romantic ending following the introduction of
a very unpleasant heroine who is redeemed by love. Perfect Christmas read.

I wasn’t sure how I would feel about a retelling of A Christmas Carol since it’s been done so often but this one has a twist to the story that I loved.

I went in with a certain expectation and when the story flipped I was instantly hooked and couldn’t stop reading.

Another Christmas Classic and one of my favourite retelling of A Christmas Carol.

P.S A great song to listen to in the last few chapters is “A Little Bit of Christmas” by Jim Brickman featuring Kris Allen. It just fit so well with Alexis’ journey

Thanks to HawkTale Publishing and NetGallery for his eArc in exchange for my honest opinion.

Another great Christmas book from Karen Schaler!!! She based this book on a screenplay that she had written that was inspired by Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol". The characters are well thought out, they are witty and have great connections. Alexis lost both her parents and was forced to sell the family home due to debt left behind. She then decides that she will not be in that situation again and is a very successful business owner and money manager. Thanks to some tough love, she is able to find her Christmas Spirit again.

Every Day Is Christmas by Karen Schaler is a heartwarming modern retelling of A Christmas Carol, based on the script she wrote for the Lifetime movie.

Alexis Taylor is a shrewd money manager, workaholic, and Scrooge in every sense bah humbugging Christmas and love. Alexis has avoided the holidays for many years after losing her parents on Christmas twenty years ago. As for love, Alexis has kept her one tradition of breaking up with her boyfriend’s right before Christmas, keeping her heart closed off.

Alexis’s world is about to change when her past, present, and future collide, with a visit from those loved and lost, showing her the magic of love, Christmas and learning to live again.

Karen Schaler is known as The Queen of Christmas and rightfully so. Every Day Is Christmas is filled with humor, heart, warmth and Christmas magic.

Another Christmas classic by Karen Schaler and a heartfelt retelling of A Christmas Carol. An uplifting read for the holiday season. The bonus content of recipes, holiday activities, and movie photos was an added delight. Highly recommended for those who love holiday stories.

Thank you to Netgalley and Hawktale Publishing for the eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

My review will be posted immediately to Goodreads and to Amazon and BookBub on publication day.

I look forward to Karen Schaler’s Christmas book every year. EVERY DAY IS CHRISTMAS is a modern-day retelling of “A Christmas Carol” with Alexis Taylor as a powerful businesswoman living in Atlanta, only interested in money… with no idea she’s turned into a Scrooge. I love the Christmas details in every chapter, from the beautiful Christmas tree in the building foyer to the company employees getting in trouble for their impromptu Christmas party. The book has Christmas carols interspersed throughout, which was a nice touch. When Alexis sees the Christmas party and fumes, she cancels her worker’s Christmas bonuses, which causes mass panic… and the ghosts of Christmas past come in the form of her parents, who were tragically killed on Christmas years before. I liked how the backstory played into her hatred of Christmas. Seeing her scenes with her mother were nice and this modern-day story of a beloved tale was a quick, easy read with all the perfect holiday touches. I love that in any Karen Schaler book, she goes all in with the candy canes and tinsel for Christmas. There’s a romance storyline, but it’s barely there. The main story is about Alexis. There are photos from the movie set and recipes in the back of the book too, and I loved that a gluten free version of the cookies was included! 5/5 stars.

I am a sucker for anything that remotely resembles the transformation of a person through lessons during the Christmas season, a la A Christmas Carol and Ebenezer Scrooge. Karen Schaler's offering in 'Every Day is Christmas' is a priceless addition to my collection of favorites. The transformation of Alexis Taylor is painful and joyful in a way that warms the heart. I highly recommend it to all.

What a wonderful, contemporary twist on Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol. This is a beautiful story about love, forgiveness, second chances, and the true meaning of Christmas. This is a story to remind us to keep the spirt of Christmas in our hearts, alive and well all year long.

Karen Schaler is a favorite author of mine and I highly recommend Every Day is Christmas along with all her other books!

Thank you NetGalley and Hawktale Publishing for the opportunity to read "Every Day Is Christmas" in exchange for my honest review.

As always Ms. Schaler has written a heartwarming Christmas story, that will surely kick off the holiday season for every reader. This story is a brilliantly reimagined take on "A Christmas Carol". Set in Atlanta we meet Alexis Taylor who has one true love in life and that is money. She owns an entire office block, runs her own financial firm. Her favourite word is "fine", no matter what people ask her, the answer is always fine - mostly to avoid a conversation. She gives off a very Scrooge-like vibe from the very beginning of the story. She gives no thought to her employees and their Christmas plans when she makes them work late on Christmas Eve. If they don't show up to work on Christmas Day they will lose their jobs. She is positively livid when she catches them exchanging Secret Santa gifts with each other. She cancels everyone's Christmas bonuses because she feels no one earned them this year.

She feels it is okay to phone people during their Christmas Eve dinners because they will understand that work comes first. Midnight on Christmas Eve she gets frustrated when none of the fund managers that she's been emailing and texting get back to her. She feels that everyone should be like her and have no time for Christmas. We learn that Alexis wasn't always like this. She used to love Christmas but after she lost her parents in a car accident she closed herself off from the holiday that they all loved and more importantly she closed herself off from love.

Her driver Justin works very hard to support his family but to him family always comes first. He hopes that one day Alexis will realize this. He takes her to see Christmas lights on a very special street but Alexis barely notices them.

She hears a Christmas carol ring-tone but she would never have that as her ring-tone...then she sees her mom sitting on the foot of her bed in a red wool coat - the very one that she was wearing in a photo that mysteriously appeared at Alexis' office. Her mom died 20 years ago how can she be there? Then the story takes on the Christmas past, present and future - with first her mom and then her dad guiding Alexis to see the error in her ways. How she has pushed good people out of her life. How is is afraid to love because if she opens herself up to love, she also opens herself up to be hurt.

The funny parts of the book are where where mom (Lydia) has to keep reminding her that the people in her past, present and future that they are visiting cannot see or hear her even though she insists on yelling to them. She sees that her actions have consequences in the lives of other people. She's shocked that she will one day be sick and alone because she has no one in her life that loves her. She learns that she can have a full bank account but an empty life. As in the original story, Alexis finds that there is still time to change the future by changing herself in the present.

This was a fantastic read and I was just sorry to come to the last page. The photos in the book were a lovely touch, it was nice to see the "homes" that are featured in the story. The link to the Christmas Camp Guide is a brilliant feature. To see all the other heart-warming Christmas stories written by Ms. Schaler, the recipes, extra photos, decorating tips and crafts are just such a thoughtful extra touch to this wonderful book. For me it's not the Christmas season without a book from Ms. Schaler! I'd truly love to give more than 5 stars!!

I requested to read and review this book for free from Hawktale Publishing. This is a great story! I know it's a Christmas story but I think it has a fantastic message for any time of the year. It reminds up to remember the important things and people on our life. It's a different take on The Christmas Carol! Alexis thinks she has it all but does she ? What can money buy? Can love be bought or is something you have to want and work for? Goals are a great thing but goals can blind sided us to what is right in front of us. This book can be read anywhere and by anybody!

Christmas Karen has written yet another spectacular story. Alexis, the “Scrooge” in the story, sees the joy of Christmas happening all around her and refuses to partake until it’s almost too late. Every Day Is Christmas is truly a fabulous Christmas read that you won’t want to put down! I didn’t!

“You make time for the people who matter most.”

This retelling of Dickens’ classic, ‘A Christmas Carol,’ has all the feels, making it a perfect holiday read. Interestingly, this book came AFTER Schaler’s movie!

Upfront and honest: I dislike retellings. BUT this one won over my heart. I loved the characters and their development. In fact, I’d watch the movie after reading this book…something I rarely do. The cover of this book features the Christmas ornament showcased in the movie.

Alex Taylor is the perfect Scrooge; orphaned, workaholic, a loner, and commitment-phobic. She’s worked hard to make her company, Taylor Investments, one of the top financial firms in Atlanta. As everyone around her is gearing up their Christmas cheer, Alex finds ways to sidestep it while squashing her employees' reverie. Why? She couldn’t care less about Christmas! Gasp. In fact, “Merry Christmas” is not in her vocabulary. When she is visited by a ghost from her past, the experience transforms her and she begins to embrace the Christmas spirit, melting her frozen heart and allowing people to get close to her.

Despite knowing how it will all work out, the character development and love interest (aahhh, Justin) kept me turning pages. A little hesitant at first because I don’t care for retellings, this one softened my heart and I ended up loving this story about second chances, redemption, self-discovery and empowerment.

If you’re looking for an uplifting holiday read, this is it. There are recipes and exclusive photos from the movie included!

I was gifted this copy by HawkTale Publishing and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

It wouldn't feel like the Christmas season without a new holiday story from Karen Schaler, and Every Day is Christmas ended up being my favorite of her stories yet.

As someone who absolutely adores A Christmas Carol, I couldn't wait to see how she was going to reimagine this beloved holiday tale. I'm happy to say that she did one of my favorite stories justice, while still putting her own beautiful and unique spin on it.

Readers follow the wildly successful Alexis Taylor who gave up on caring about anyone but herself after a horrific tragedy in her past at Christmas. Now she will walk over anyone or anything if it makes her extra money in the process, and she's barely recognizable from the sweet young woman she used to be. When a chance encounter on Christmas Eve has her freaked out that she's sure she just saw a beloved family member who passed away two decades prior, Alexis is about to experience the Christmas of a lifetime.

A heartfelt, heartwarming story about opening our hearts and remembering what truly is most important in the lives we are living, Every Day is Christmas is a beautifully written reimagining of one of the most beloved Christmas stories of all time.

Karen Schaler has truly become a wonderful voice within Christmas fiction, and I love how she always includes many extra bonus pieces at the end of each of her stories. It makes the story feel that much more immersive to the reader, and I can't recommend this beautiful contemporary romance enough.

Final Rating: 4/5.

Definitely recommended to anyone who enjoys heartwarming Christmas stories, retellings of A Christmas Carol, and/or clean Christmas romances.

Thanks so much to Hawktale Publishing for allowing me to read and review this title!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary advance reader copy of this novel from the publisher (Hawktale Publishing) via NetGalley. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and this is my honest review.

Karen Schaler gives us another excellent Christmas novel. I have read a few of her others, and one is one of the best ones I have read.

Money, love, family along with loss of money, love and family are all themes running through this book.

We meet high powered finance person Alexis Taylor, also known among her employees as Scrooge at Christmas, as she wants nothing to do with Christmas and expects her employees to work through the holiday.

Alexis received an unexpected Christmas eve that is life changing.

Based on A Christmas Carol, Alexis must see her past, present, and future, to see the person she has become and then has to make a decision if she wants to change her life.

I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it be put on anyone’s Christmas reading list.

Thanks to HawkTale Publishing and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book.

Author Karen Schaler has once again penned a Christmas book that I could not put down. This one is a modern-day retelling of Dicken’s A Christmas Carol, only this time Scrooge is Alexis, a high-powered businesswoman. That’s right, her only nodding recognition of the holiday is to decorate the public spaces of her Atlanta office building and keep a “must-see” Douglas Fir tree that brings both city residents and tourists inside her tower.

Major characters in the story are very real. You get to know them and their problems. You also learn the sad reason that turned Alexis away from celebrating the holiday.

As a reader I could not dislike Alexis. Instead, I felt sorry for both Alexis and her employees. She has no room in her life for friends or romance as her life is devoted to work. What can her ghosts show her that will help her change?

An old Christmas photo mysteriously appears in her office...and it is the trigger for her ghost visits to begin. Her ghosts are her deceased parents, and as in the Dicken’s story, they take her to the past, present, and future.

If you have ever read the Dicken’s book or watched the story on television, then you know how things work out. If not, then I will let you read the book to learn the ending on your own.

I anxiously await Ms. Schaler’s Christmas books each year and am thrilled to say that this one does not disappoint.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an advance copy of this wonderful story.

Loved that quote "Choose love/"

In this Rom Com, a woman is the CEO of her own company and is very successful. meaning that she earns a lot of money. Orphaned in college, she had to drop out of college. The story starts on Christmas Eve where this CEO tells her employees that they will have to work on Christmas Day. For the last twenty years, she has Not Celebrated Christmas. The reader finds out why.

In some ways, this story is a modern take on Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Personally, I have mixed feelings about A Christmas Carol and it was interesting to see how that story translates into modern times.

This novel was originally written as a movie script with Toni Braxton as the main character in the movie. I think it was a Christmas movie on Lifetime.

I really loved the story of Alexis . You really can understand why she felt the way she did but she was suffering inside. Her Mom and Dad showing Christmas Past , Christmas Present and Christmas future. I think it finally sunk in. Having her parents spirit spending time with her is just what she needed> A GREAT READ.

Every time I read a Christmas book by Karen Schaler I think this is the best one yet. Now that I have read this one I think it's the best one yet. They just keep getting better and better. Once you start reading you just won't be able to put it down.

The book starts out making Alexis seem self centered and demanding but then some things happen that kinda give her a "wake up call" and she becomes this really nice person. And she surprises a whole lot of people.

I highly recommend this as one story you won't want to miss this Christmas.

There have been movies and books written as a modern day retelling of A Christmas Carol, but this may be one of my favorites. If you ask Alexis Taylor who she loves, she will tell you she loves money. She has no shame about admitting to her love of money and power. She also despises Christmas and anything to do with it. Yet her office tower in Atlanta is professionally decorated so much so that it is a photo spot for visitors. Make no mistake, the decorations are not for celebration, she has another use for them. You will have to read the book to find out. She has walls around her heart that no one can penetrate. She suffered a tremendous loss many years ago, and she has buried herself in work and becoming the best in her field of finance. She has no friends and no life outside work and making money. She does not need anything else in her life, or so she thinks. She treats her employees with disdain and does not care anything about them personally. Well, you know where this story is going. She is going to get a visit that will change her life.

This was such a delightful story to read. There is a little twist to this story that ties it up with a big red bow that made my heart happy. This book put me in the Christmas spirit. Alexis is the Scrooge in this story, so my initial reaction to her was not good, but as you learn more about her, you see a different side to Alexis that she keeps hidden from the public. If you enjoy a charming Christmas story that will warm you up inside, you will inhale this book like I did. I dove into this book and read it in one afternoon. Apparently Karen Schaler is the queen of Christmas, and after reading this book, I realized she has earned that title.

Thank you to Hawktale Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

If you love The Christmas Carol, you will absolutely love this book. Sometimes we all need to be reminded about our blessings. I’m sure all of us have wished for a little more time with those we have loss. I loved the way Alexis changed. I cried some happy tears. This is a great Christmas story with wonderful characters. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

Another delightful sweet Christmas novel by Karen Schaler. The queen of Christmas still reigns! This was a great modern twist in A Christmas Carol, full of all the fun Christmas joy you come to expect from Karen’s stories, while also hitting you with sweet emotional nostalgia reminding you just in time for the upcoming season, all the reasons to love Christmas.

My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read and review an advanced copy of this book, Every Day is Christmas.

I love the book, ‘A Christmas Carol’, so almost any version of the story grabs my interest. When Karen Schaler was tasked to write a Lifetime Network movie based on the story of Scrooge, the story was written, and now she has turned it into her latest Christmas novel.

This is the story of Alexis, the Scrooge character, who runs her namesake investment firm. She has risen to the top with hard work, no distractions, an iron fist, and no time for love. When the team doesn’t make her yearly outrageous goals, on Christmas Eve she cancels the yearly bonuses, tells everyone to report back to work on Christmas morning, and also cancels their normal week off. When Alexis goes home to an undecorated penthouse apartment, little did she know her life would be dramatically changed when she gets a visit from someone totally unexpected.

I really enjoyed how the story was altered just enough to keep me interested. Even though I could guess the ending (it was a Lifetime Christmas movie), I liked how Alexis was transformed from her original Scrooge-like persona to a loving, caring individual.

Here's a truly feel-good holiday story modeled after Dickens' A Christmas Carol featuring Alexis as a "Scrooge" type CEO. Money is her thought of happiness and hard-work, total devotion and deception to work is what she values. She doesn't understand why others don't see that. We learn that her aversion to Christmas is due to a traumatic event in her life during the holiday time when she lost her parents. She has no qualms about calling employees or business contacts on Christmas, not understanding they are celebrating Christmas. She is alone, always breaking up with whatever boyfriend she has just before Christmas. But she has one devoted employee, her driver Justin, who is secretly in love with her. However, Justin is more than he seems which she will later come to find out. When one Christmas Eve, Alexis wakes to find her mother in her room wearing a red coat, her life is set to change forever. Alexis guides her through a whimsical look at the past, future, and present to view her life. Can Alexis wake up and realize that life is more than money? This is the perfect holiday story of redemption and second chances and finding love during the magic of Christmas. It's the perfect holiday read. Many thanks to #netgalley #karenschaler #everydayischristmas for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Every Day is Christmas was an awesome read I was granted early access to through Net Galley. A modern take on A Christmas Carol, this book is perfect for the holiday season especially in this busy, focused world we live in. Enjoy and find new joy in the lovely world we live in through the holidays and all year long.

Every Day is Christmas, by Karen Schaler, is the story of money manager Alexis Taylor and how she rediscovers herself and her Christmas joy. On Christmas Eve 20 years ago, Alexis lost both of her parents in a tragic accident. Her life also lost all stability as creditors dismantled her family home and parents’ savings to clear their debt. Promising herself to never be so hurt or so poor ever again, Alexis has created one of the top money management firms, Taylor Investments. Located in the top floor of her high rise building, Alexis has maximized income. She has also maximized publicity with her high end Christmas decor and large gold tree by the building, which families have made an annual ritual to have pictures taken under.

When Alexis becomes distraught that her company did not meet their earnings goals, she cancels holiday vacations and year end bonuses. Even though the company profits were up 12%, her goal had been 20%, perhaps an unrealistic goal. With the stress Alexis is feeling, she begins seeing unusual things. A stored picture from her parents last Thanksgiving is somehow delivered to her work. Alexis is seeing her mother’s face on angels. And then, Alexis begins having a full out Christmas Eve experience in the mode of Christmas Carol or It’s a Wonderful Life.

This is a delightful, heartwarming tale of a woman who has disconnected herself from emotions and through her unbelievable experiences of this evening, and the assistance of someone who has actually been by her side for years, is able to free herself from her self imposed bondage. I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it!
