Description
Encompassing the food traditions of Japan, China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Korea, and Malaysia, My Asian Kitchen equips you with the cooking knowledge you need to push your understanding of flavors and master your favorite dishes at home. Instead of grouping recipes by country, author Jennifer Joyce has arranged them by style of dish:
- Spicy stir-fries from the wok, including Spicy Tamarind Shrimp and Thai Chicken with Cashews and Chili Jam Sauce
- Comforting soups, including Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup and Kimchi and Tofu Soup
- Bao, dumplings, and wontons, including Braised Pork Belly with Spring Onions and Crushed Peanuts Bao, Chicken and Shiitake Gyoza with Miso Lemon Dipping Sauce, and Thai Shumai Dumplings
- Healthy salads such as Crispy Spiced Tofu Veggie Bowl with Ponzu Dressing and Apple Salad with Miso Maple Dressing
- Asian-inspired desserts, including Devil’s Food Cake with Matcha Icing and Chili Chocolate Nut Bark with Coconut
- And more!
Recipes are simplified, with shortcuts where appropriate, but not at the expense of sacrificing flavor. There are even drawings and guides throughout the book to help you tackle difficult tasks such as folding your own dumplings, achieving the perfect grill technique, or personalizing your ramen and donabe hot pots.
From Grilled Eggplant with Sweet Soy and Lime Dressing and Pork Skewers with Palm Sugar Glaze and Jaew to Adobo Chicken and Miso-Glazed Ribs, My Asian Kitchen is an adventure in the dazzling diversity of modern Asian cooking.

This cookbook has all my favorite features, it has lots of delicious looking recipes, clear instructions and beautiful pictures for every recipe!
I saved several recipes:
Tuna sashimi with avocado and citrus dressing
Beef takaki with garlic chips
Korean cucumber pickles
Thai fried egg salad
Spicy tuna poke
Korean grill steak tacos
Several Bao bun based recipes
I could go on.
The recipes also had instructions that felt clear and reasonably easy. I don’t think I noticed a recipe with instructions longer than a page.
I look forward to trying these recipes!
This book has so many great recipes in it! The pictures are beautiful and the instructions are easy to follow. I can't wait to make all of my favorites for my family!
Thank you to NetGalley and Jennifer Joyce and an ARC!
I'm so excited to jump into this one and see what it's all about. I love cooking with my husband and we're always eager to incorporate new cuisines into our palette.
This is a great and accessible cookbook, filled with gorgeous photos and easy-to-follow instructions, and even better, many quick recipes. I’m excited to try some of these out to shake up my routine.
Thank you Jennifer Joyce, Quarto Publishing Group – Chartwell Books, and NetGalley for providing this ARC for review consideration. All opinions expressed are my own.
I love Asian foods and I love cooking. However, I also like simple cooking with great results that suggests more complexity than it actually is. This book offers exactly that. Inspired by recent trips to Singapore and South Korea, I couldn’t wait to get stuck in, but where to start? There are so many inspiring dishes to choose from, all with stunning photos; my mouth began to water as soon as I turned the first page; it honestly did. I particularly love the little visuals that are peppered throughout the book, showing the cook very clearly how to roll up a gyoza or how to use a wok etc. A lovely point of difference.
This is a mouth-wateringly great book to inspire and delight anyone who loves Asian foods.
Many thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this ARC for which I have given my voluntary and unbiased review
My husband LOVED Asian cuisine, and I don’t have the taste for it. So this is a perfect guide for me to make him delicious meals. I’m so excited to have this recipe book on hand when I want to have a special night in for him on birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
Asian cuisine, chefs kiss. I adore anything Asian and this cookbook nailed my taste buds! I’m excited to make my way through all the recipes!
There are a lot of recipes in this book. They aren’t too crazy on the amount and types of ingredients either. I love that the majority of the recipes have photos of the food included. There are also some direction graphics pages telling how to wrap things like egg rolls, etc. I’ll definitely be saving this book for trying some things.
