Description
Do you struggle to discern God’s voice in the decisions and challenges you face? God is always speaking--the key is discovering the unique way He speaks to each of us, which is your unique prophetic personality.
Hearing God's voice is one of the greatest gifts we've been given, but it can also feel complex and frustrating. As a teenager, Havilah Cunnington didn't think she could hear God's voice, thinking it was like trying to tune into a radio station and never finding the correct frequency. But one night at a conference, she had an encounter with God that changed everything. She realized He had been speaking to her the whole time--she just hadn't learned to recognize His voice.
Now an author, speaker, pastor, and founder of the well-known ministry Truth to Table, Havilah teaches people around the world to recognize the unique way God is speaking to them. After more than twenty-five years studying and teaching about hearing from God, she has discovered four distinct ways we hear His voice. In Created to Hear God you will:
- identify your unique prophetic personality: Hearer, Knower, Feeler, or Seer;
- learn the core concepts of a prophetic personality;
- discover how to strengthen and develop that personality;
- uncover a relationship with God that has felt hidden for so long; and
- learn how God speaks to your family and friends
God is alive and well. It's not about Him speaking but us listening. Through biblical teaching and experience, you’ll receive guidance in hearing and connecting with God. If you love tools like the Enneagram, join the thousands who have already gained a deeper understanding of themselves and others through learning their unique prophetic personality.

I was so excited to read this when I saw Havilah Cunnington was bringing out a book on the prophetic languages, and it did not disappoint! I love how her writing flows and feels like a conversation with a trusted mentor. It is engaging and easy to read. I have heard and referred to Havilah's teaching on the prophetic languages for years now, as a helpful tool for growing/maturing in our ability to hear God's voice and understand the ways He speaks to us. I found this particularly helpful in my work as a youth leader and discipling new Christians. It was anecdotal but made good use of Scripture to back up her experiences. I will absolutely be buying copies for friends who I feel would also really enjoy this book. Highly recommend!

Interesting book. I've read alot of Christian books in the past and this one covered points and perspectives I have not seen.
I would recommend to family and friends.

This was my first book read for 2024, and I know it will continue to make an impact for many years to come. Havilah has a fantastic writing style that is informative and engaging. Some writers have a tendency to come off as knowing it all, not Havilah. What she does know, she openly shares as if the readers are at the same table as she. This is a fantastic book to read either in a small group or solo.

An excellent book by Havilah Cunnington teaching on ways we hear God. It will open you up to the different ways God speaks and help you discover how he speaks to you most often. It is a good teaching book. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley.

This was an informative read on the different prophetic personalities and how we hear God differently. Through this book I saw myself a bit in each but was able to identify my main two prophetic personalities as the knower and the feeler. I'm a good mix of the two (even though they contradict each other a bit). The book was down to earth and realistic. I definitely resonated with the notion Havilah brought up of feeling like a second-rate Christian due to not necessarily "hearing" the voice of God. As a knower primarily, I'd heard people say "God said x to me" many times in life and attended services that relied heavily on the Holy Spirit speaking and felt left out and lost as if I didn't belong. This book made it clear to my why I felt that way. It was an easy, quick read. The only thing I would say (and I'm not taking a star off for it because the book deserves all the stars), is that the formatting for Kindle was off. Sections were spliced & not fitting correctly on the page and for that could use more editing. It was still readable but didn't flow perfectly.

I really enjoy Havilah's books. I felt this book had some really good information on how you hear from God. It was a little confusing for me though to keep them all straight. I enjoyed it.

This book what not what I was expecting when I sat down to read it.
While I agree that God speaks to us, I believe He speaks to us through His Word, rather than through visions or thoughts.
I agree with the author that God desires a relationship with each of His children.
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in return for my honest review.

Hearing God’s voice is my favorite topic to discuss. Created to Hear God by Havilah Cunnington is right up that particular alley. I have spent time learning and exploring how I hear God speak to me, and yet, I have found myself discouraged and adrift lately.
I struggle to make the choices I know will bring me closer to God just as Paul so eloquently put it in Romans 7:15-20. Lately I’ve been in a great big dry spell of my own making. “Our inability to hear doesn’t mean it’s not happening. It means something else is standing in the way.” And that something is usually my own self. “Could my discouragement be caused by disconnection, and is that what’s making me feel defeated?” My personal answer to that is, “Yes.”
Havilah breaks down how people hear from God into 4 categories: those who are hearers, those who are feelers, those who are seers and those who are knowers. Her website offers a test where you can determine your category. I had no trouble identifying my category just by reading the book.
I will end my review with this quote which resonated with me. “God is a communicator. He is the original Word: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). And He came to earth to communicate with us. “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us” (v. 14). Wow! We are that important to Him! Also, think about it: Who would author a book containing thousands and thousands of words if He didn’t like to communicate? God is a talker. He’s an extrovert. He’s a people person. I cannot stress how important this core belief is. Why? Because if you think God is hiding from you or not speaking to you, you will miss His voice. Increase your confidence by tweaking one common word in your thoughts. Instead of wondering, Will God speak to me? start believing, God is speaking to me, right now.”
