Description
Mastering the Art of Witchcraft is a beginner's guide to building both a liturgical and magical practice completely autonomous and independent from any tradition or current practice in modern Witchcraft. Unlike many other beginner's books, this book succinctly defines what is required to bridge both the religious and the magical aspects of modern Witchcraft to build a personal independent Witchcraft practice. Everything that you need to know, all of the liturgical and magical rites, and the basic background information is included in this work. Frater Barrabbas has written a five-book series for advanced Witchcraft studies and practices. These books were not for beginners, but now he has written this book, that teaches the beginner what they need to know and master to make the five-book series accessible. Modern Witchcraft, as it is practiced, is one half religious rites and the other half magical rites, seamlessly joined to produce a powerful discipline and regimen of practical rituals and exercises. This book was written for the beginner witch who wants to establish an independent and personal practice that will aid them in building an advanced magical and liturgical capability. Whether you belong to a coven and a tradition, or are a solitary witch, this book was written exclusively for you.

Let me start this off by saying I realize this book isn't exactly for me at this time. I have no place to make an altar, nor do anything in this book. I am mainly in the broom closet as it where. It doesn't mean that it didn't make an impact on me, nor give me ideas as to what I can do once I have a place I can practice. A lot of it made sense in the respect it's common sense to me.
I don't have a community of folks to talk to about any of this. Every time I find a group of folks or a coven that might be ok to talk with, they turn out not to be as I don't follow their rules and think different then them. Or they don't understand my physical limitations. The author seems to understand that there are people like me who just don't exactly fit in.
This is a book I think all witches should have, even if it doesn't advance their practice. Despite me not having a community to talk with about any of the witchy stuff, I would love to have this to help anyone along I should I meet that needs and/or wants it.
This book is written for the beginning witch who wants to start a solitary practice. Discusses steps towards independent practice include collecting the tools and material and choosing a space. Emphasizing the practical aspects of witchcraft, emphasizing the foundations of witchcraft, liturgical practices, magical rituas, tools and spells and divination. Advanced magical practices. Appendix. Illustrations. Bibliography. Index.
Very informative book
As a witch who already understands my way around my craft. I found this book would be very helpful for those who struggle and wish learn more
Well write and worth a read
If you're in this particular system of magic and mysticism, then this book will be very helpful to "join the dots" how all its methods can be incorporated. It is kinda shorter book and brief read which is fine for busy world, but still few more explanations would be welcomed (Forex little more about working with different aspects of deities). Of course you can use this text on its own as a basic occult introduction to magic. Also it is interesting to see how methods in this system are changing in years, now being more concise and practical. I also advise readers to authors early title Disciple's Guide to Ritual Magick.
A wonderful book for beginner witches who are interested in ceremonial magic and ritual, occult, deity, and grasping the concepts for themselves rather than relying on a coven structure for teaching. It's much different than the beginner books that focus on correspondences, sabbats, candle magic, kitchen craft, etc. - I love those texts as well, but they're much lighter reads than this. This is a true study text that brings in the religious aspect of practice much more than most modern witchcraft books. Don't let the smaller size fool you, as it's densely packed with information and ritual.
