Description
The battle between Light and Dark is about to begin.
Caroline Ellis' sixteenth birthday sets into motion a series of events that have been fated for centuries. A descendant of Virginia Dare, the first child born in the lost colony of Roanoke, and unaware of her birthright as the heir to the throne of the Light Fae, it isn’t until she begins a tumultuous relationship with Devilyn Reilly that the truth is revealed.
Devilyn is the only one of the Fae who is both of the Light and of the Dark, and struggles to maintain that precarious balance to avoid succumbing to the power of the Dark within him. He is the only one who can save Caroline from those who would destroy her and destroy all hope for unity among the Fae. He promises Caroline that he will protect her at all costs, even when it means protecting her from himself.
Told from the alternating perspectives of Caroline and Devilyn, FAE draws on mysteries, myths and legends to create a world, and a romance, dangerously poised between Light and Dark.

I really thought this book was interesting. I read it quickly and the plot was complex and developed and I really connected with the characters. This is a book I totally recommended to friends.

This book was amazing sorry I didnt know these were on here. I don't know why they don't have reviews. Because I know I reviewed them. Weird.

Caroline has always felt different from everyone else. She has few friends, has no interest in clothes or make-up, and has never felt the spark towards a boy before. That is until Devilyn shows up. He captivates her instantly, she is drawn to him against her will, especially since at their every interaction he is a jerk. She fights her attraction to him while they are continually being thrown together. But she has no idea that her world is about to shatter and Devilyn is the reason why.
I felt bad for Caroline for a majority of this book. She is a pawn used by everyone! Pretty much she has no say in her own life, people just make assumptions about "what is for the best for her" and do it. Devilyn spent at least half the book pushing her away, breaking down her self confidence to make her hate him, and when he finally tries to make a move she is confused. No Duh! I completely agree and wanted to shake him silly. I will admit at times she was perfectly ridiculous, and did stupid things I did not understand, and over reacted almost all the time. She seemed like an over the top teenage stereotype.
Devilyn was a complete ass, but I did like him. He had his reasons, ok. He was this mature, well educated man who had to pretend to be in high school to protect his true soulmate, an overwrought teen girl. Life is not easy for him, and I am not even talking about the half light-half dark soul battle going on inside him. I liked the idea of the lost colony of Roanoke being taken away by Fae, a nice supernatural solution to the history mystery. The book had a very unique plot, but the blend of Faeries and Odin did make me a little unsure how the two fit together. I can totally buy into faeries messing with humans and the world, but how did a Norse God get thrown into the mix and live in the United States? Someone please explain how this works. The book did jump around at times, so there were a few moments where I was lost. But overall it was a solid first book in a new series, and I will most certainly read the next. I would prefer the book comes out sooner rather than later because the ending was awful and I just wanted to smack Devilyn.
I received this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
