Description
The End.
Oh. You’re still here?
Fine, I’ll prove it…
From award-winning author–illustrator Fred Blunt comes this fantastically funny, spectacularly silly picture book about everything wrong with dogs, as told by a very stubborn cat.
Are you a cat person or a dog person?
Well, this cat thinks cats are the best and dogs are the absolute worst. I mean, dogs stink, they slobber, they enjoy rolling around in cow poo... need I say more? And why are there so many types of dog, too? Hairy... scary... spotty... Scottie... the list goes on!
But when this confident cat gets a very scary surprise, guess who comes to the rescue? Will our cat finally accept that he might have been wrong about dogs all along?
With bright and hilarious illustrations, this picture book will have kids and grown-ups alike laughing out loud. And whether you’re a cat or dog lover, the heartwarming ending is sure to put a smile on your face.

This book was amazing!! The illustrations were adorable, the writing was funny, and the message was wholesome. My children loved it as much as I did, I highly recommend it!!
I read it just as I downloaded it and it's so cute , funny and adorable. It's 12.32 Am here and my kid is fast asleep. Otherwise I would have shown this book to her because she loves dogs. She loves dogs more than anything in the world, even her Mama not her Dada of course.
This is just something that would be a fun read for younger kids. Especially at a playschool or at home. Kids will definitely enjoy it.
Thank you so much Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books | Happy Yak for the wonderful ARC in exchange of an honest review.
This was a really cute book. I liked the quirky and bright illustrations and the simple, yet effective, narration. The story reads like one sibling describing another - lots of downsides, but at the end of the day, they love each other. Just like this cat and their dog friend - they may be different, but friendship is the underlying message. A simple and cute story!
This book is absolutely adorable. The illustrations are amazing, and the story itself is SO cute. You start off thinking that cats really hate dogs, but no...they know just as well as anyone that a dog can be a person (or cat's) best friend. My littlest library patrons would LOVE this book, and it would make a great addition to storytime hour. Highly recommended to everyone. You'll love it!
Very cute book about Dogs as narrated with a little comic bias by a cat. Silly and fun picture book with colorful illustrations. Perfect to read to preschoolers and up.
What a fun-loving story! This is a very educational book - from the cat’s point of view, that is. Very funny and love the ending. Kids and parents will get a big kick out of the cat as they read this book that has the dog as the main subject.
I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
This is absolutely adorable. From the first pages where I laughed out loud, to the precious ending, it was such a fun and charming read. Accompanied by lovely illustrations. A book to make parents smile and delight the hearts of children. Dogs are not stupid - the end.
This was such a cute and funny read overall and I could definitely imagine my cat agreeing with this.
The idea behind this book intrigued me, and after reading it, it did not disappoint! The narrator cat talking about all the types of dogs is very humorous. It is a very quick read and would be a great bedtime story for any child. The images are also creative with a great variety of expressions on the animal faces. It had a nice, uplifting ending that any pet-lover would enjoy. Great book!
Brilliantly funny book that is so close to the their it’ll have the adult reading it laughing as well as the children! The illustrations are superb, whimsical, cartoony add great fun! I am going to thoroughly enjoy reading this aloud to the class .
Free Blunt is a talented artist: he can, not only draw, but also write a story.
This is a funny book narrated by a funny character (no spoilers) and summarises points about why dogs are adorable.
The mannerisms of the characters are very funny. Perfect book about dogs (and some other animals have guest appearances) for toddlers and young readers.
As fervent cat lovers, we were sucked right in by this bright cover and cute ‘by A. Cat’. This was such a fun read!
The prose is snappy and snarky and great fun to read aloud. There were quite a few laugh out loud moments, and we loved the twist ending.
The illustrations perfectly capture the earnest nature of a dog and the cynical cat. They have a great sense of movement and texture and some almost leap off the page.
Thank you Quarto Publishing Group and NetGalley for this book. Opinions expressed are my own.
This is a very cute children’s book. The illustrations are fantastic, they look great while still appealing to the child’s eye. As a pet owning family we relate to the cats story and definitely believe that is exactly how our cats view our dog. Overall super cute and great for the kiddos.
Awesome book as far as pictures are concerned because there's scarcely any text to read, but since the book is for the little ones that doesn't really matter as the illustrations are great. I would wholeheartedly recommend to all little dog / cat lovers out there!
I received an eARC from netgalley and am writing an honest review.
This was a cute book. The end.
Oh, you're still here?
Lol.
This had fun scruffy and whimsical drawings and with words that would be fun to read to a child (though probably not sooo nice to call things stupid tbh). The climax /denouement was a bit abrupt, but it's a short kids book so *shrug*.
A cute book.
Wonderfully silly story about dogs from a cat’s point of view. This would be the perfect read for story times. The pencil and crayon type drawings enhance the story with silly detail. Animal loving children are sure to get a laugh from this story.
Cat tells us all about how silly dogs are. When cat gets a big surprise, it turns out dogs aren't as silly as they thought.
This book is great. The illustrations of the dog are fantastic - it's clearly a very happy dog as it's tail is wagging in every picture. The book is clever, engaging and full of bright pictures.
I'll be adding this book to my daughter's list for when she's a little bit older.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced ebook copy in exchange for an honest review.
First time author A. Cat has given us a delightful tale about dogs. A. Cat’s writing helper, Fred Blunt, have teamed up to write and illustrate a comical perspective of man’s best friend, the common dog. This is the perfect lap sit book for toddlers AND a hilarious first read book for beginning readers.
Yes! Yes! Yes! This book is fantastically adorable, clever and witty. It left me with the biggest smile.
Whether you're a cat or a dog person, or just a person in search of a smile, this book is for you!
5 million stars
I thought this was cute! The illustrations are soft on the eyes and feel good. The story was very much like cat vibes.
Kids will love this. The snarky, pompous narrator cat initially notes all the smelly, foolish behavior and widely varying shapes of dogs, but gets its comeuppance when encountering a very BIG cat...a tiger.
As a dog lover I knew I wanted to acquire this adorable book for our young readers. Very cute! Read through the pov of a cat which makes for an interesting and entertaining read. Beautiful illustrations as well.
So fun and so cute! I would definitely buy this book for my elementary students and recommend it to parents. Illustrations were so cute too! Way to show how cats think they're superior!
A book about all the silly things dogs do written from a cats point of view! Why do dogs do silly things like chase their tails and sniff other dogs butts?! And why do dogs come in so many different shapes and sizes? These questions are pondered by a cat who wonders why dogs are so silly! But when this kitty comes into some trouble he realises that dogs do happen to be pretty cool and loyal 🥰
Dog loving kids will have a ball with this laugh out loud funny story! The colourful doodle type illustrations are fun and charming, sure to put a smile on their faces!
See, I know A LOT of cats, and cats don't think dogs are stupid -- they have to act snobby so you don't know they care. I am in love with this hilarious little picture book -- the style reminded me of how I used to draw, but of course this is better done. The story is so funny and cute. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this.
This is absolutely the most charming little book! The illustrations are fun and adorable, and the story actually had me laughing to myself. I would pick this up for anybody who loves dogs, cats, or a good chuckle.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book for free in exchange for my review! All opinions are my own.
What a funny book. According to Cat dogs are stupid, and that is all you need to know. But Cat changes his tune in this cute story. Well written and illustrated. Definitely fun for kids to read.
Apparently, according to the author, 'Dogs are STUPID. The End.'
Dogs, it seems, have very little going for them. Think about it, what good are they; especially when you consider the smell, the fur, the slobber and that thing they do with poo? According to the cat whose opinions are noted here, not much! You know what you get with cats. After all they all look the same, behave the same, and, pretty much, are the same, or are they?
All You Need to Know About Dogs is written by a moggie who knows absolutely that cats are far superior and expects no argument. Unfortunately they haven't quite got all their information straight but will they realise in time that we all need a little help from unexpected circles now and again?
Described as both fact and fiction, author and illustrator Fred Blunt's book is just long enough for a bedtime story. Engaging, brightly illustrated, and fun throughout, it could be read aloud by parents, grandparents, or older siblings, and be visited again and again by children aged between 4 - 6 years old. It has just enough jeopardy for the suggested age group as well as a satisfyingly happy ending.
I was able to read an advanced copy of this thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books/Happy Yak, but the opinions expressed are my own. I enjoyed this and know my younger grandchildren will too, Recommended.
Super cute story of a cat that thinks dogs are stupid until he needs help from one! Loved the illustrations.
I love this book!
The pictures are great, it's funny, it's truthfull (to a point, yup my dog rolled in cow poo and mud and loves puddles) and the main dog reminds me of my labrador and the cat, my cat.
Fantastic my kids at school will love this one too.
Cats vs. Dogs, the never ending battle between two beloved pet types. In this adorable picture book "A. Cat" brings up many excellent points on why dogs are stupid and cats are clearly the superior pet... but are dogs really that bad? Find out in this comical picture book by Fred Blunt
The book was beautifully written. I like how the illustrations look like they are hand drawn. The author made careful word choices that were very impactful. Overall, the book was well written and I did really enjoy it.
This book was utterly adorable. The illustrations were very sweet and in a style that a child could copy and have fun with. I liked that this book managed to tell a great story without having too many words on the page and the pictures mostly told the story. The writing style was very entertaining and I loved how witty and blunt the cat's perspective was.
Overall, even as an adult this book put a smile on my face so I can see younger children really loving this one!
This was super cute. The art was adorable. I loved the perspective of the cat. This would be so fun for a kid who has a cat but is getting a dog.
All you need to know about Dogs is an adorably charming book. It was told from the perspective of a cat, so of course that is both funny and unique, as cats and dogs are mortal enemies. The story had me chuckling throughout, because of the cats opinions on dogs.
The illustrations were really cute and the ending was sweet. Enjoyed reading this book.
All You Need To Know About Dogs by Fred Blunt is a wonderful book about cats and dogs written by a cat. The story is cute. I am sure my granddaughter would love the book. I cannot wait to buy it and read to her.
This was a super cute book with bright, happy and fun illustrations. Dog and cat lovers will both adore it. I think it’s perfect for pre-schoolers to first graders and if I was still teaching I’d definitely add it to my stash of pet books. I highly recommend it!
This absolutely charming and very funny picture book for young readers (4-6) made this adult guffaw! The illustrations and story are delightful, as an opinionated cat (aren't they all) tells all the things she dislikes about dogs until ... a group of them come to her rescue. Highly recommended for kids and adults who love to laugh!
This book had my kids giggling the whole time! The illustrations were fun and incredibly engaging to them, and they giggled at all the different types of dogs that the cat describes.
I enjoy a grumpy cat and this feline is definitely grumpy and adorable! 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗢 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪 𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗗𝗢𝗚𝗦 is an entertaining and engaging read that young children will love. Simple and easy to read with illustrations that are spot on. I can’t wait to read it to my kids.
This was a lovely story with vibrant illustrations. I liked the added intrigue of the cat as author! Definitely one I'll look out for to gift to young readers.
This is such a heartwarming read. It’s very cute to see dogs from the perspective of a cat. Typically, we see a lot of animosity between these two animals but this was a different take on their bond. This will be a very fun book to read to your kids. The illustrations were beautiful and easy to understand with vibrant colours which kids will be very drawn to. Overall I would say this is 5 star read for parents with children at home or even if you’re an adult looking for something lighthearted to read.
My little girl loves books and she loves dogs, so this book honestly feels like it was made for her! The artwork is adorable, and it's not too overstimulating despite being very colorful and fun. I love the variety of descriptive words that are used along with the illustrations of different kinds of dogs, and I, a grown woman, laughed out loud multiple times. My girl is definitely going to be getting the giggles over this one, and we are most certainly going to be buying a physical copy when it’s released.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a free ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a very enjoyable childrens book, and I can see both children and adults alike enjoying it. I mean, you can't go wrong with dogs! I thought that illustrations were charming and I feel that this book could hold a childs attenntion. I enjoyed it.
