Description
The familiar concept of work-life balance endures, but does anyone actually boast of having a healthy ratio of work and personal time? Very few do, because our model for work/life leads to burn out - it asks individuals to chase a dream where work and life are both equal and distinct, where the demands of one do not contradict the demands of another. Simply giving 100% to the twin pillars of your life will not give you the work/life balance you crave. The good news is, there's a much more intelligent, holistic and effective way to live your life.
Life has never fit into tidy little boxes. Family and social needs don't stop between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and work pressures bleed into the hours between 5:01 p.m. and 8:59 a.m. all the time. And since the pandemic, the lines have become even more blurred, with remote workers bearing the brunt of the impact. It's time to embrace new wellness strategies, This book will show how taking a holistic and integrative approach to the complex demands of life and work will transform your happiness and producitivity.
The book will contain three parts.
· Part I will focus on strategies to thrive as an individual; specifically, maintaining a healthy mind and body by prioritizing oneself. You'll learn how to integrate healthy lifestyle habits into and throughout your workday, so that taking care of yourself won't compete with productivity but will support it.
· Part II will focus on thriving at work. You'll learn about checkpoints and how to use these moments to wake up and realign your well-being with your personal mission. You'll learn how to create healthy boundaries, work through the common challenges that remote workers face and provide approachable solutions that you can immediately start integrating into your work life. Team leaders will gain key insights for managing remote and flexible teams so that they can create the conditions for success.
· Part III is about thriving in relationships. While community and connection are vital to well-being, many workers struggle to form and maintain these bonds. This book will explain why connection is vital, and show how to encourage it.
By identifying your personal mission and integrating the wellness strategies provided in TheWork/Life Tango, you'll be able to show up 100% in all aspects of life-in your career, for your family and friends, and for yourself.

If you are spending a lot of time working at home this is a helpful, practical and easy to read book. It gave me some tips to try and I have made some notes! I look forward to making a difference to my working life. Thanks to NetGalley for the early copy.
I really enjoyed this primer on finding "actual* work-life balance. I appreciated the author's commitment to the dancing metaphor throughout each of her chapters. Some of the advice veered more into the health and self-care space than I would have liked (get more sleep, eat well, etc.) but the more work-oriented chapters were good. I would have liked to see more thought put into what a reader should do if they find themselves in toxic work environments.
Very insightful, lots of tips and ideas to help create that work/life balance. Kristal touches on working from home which I believe contributes to a lot of us finding it hard to switch off - where does work end and life begin?
I found myself making lots of notes and sharing them with my colleagues, as some who works for the NHS, burnout is all too real.
I would highly recommend this book
Thanks to Net Galley for the ARC.

There’s some great advice here about finding your personal balance between work and life, with helpful questions to get you thinking, and the voice of the author is accessible, warm and authentic.
A useful resource to help you check in with where you are, then adjust and adapt to get to where you want to be.
"I devoured 'Work-Life Tango' in one sitting! Kristel Bauer's book is a game-changer for anyone struggling to balance work and personal life. With humor, empathy, and expertise, Bauer guides you through the process of creating harmony in your life.
The book's core idea - that work and life are intertwined, like a tango dance - resonated deeply with me. Bauer shows how to embrace this connection and find happiness, rather than trying to separate the two.
I loved the practical tips and real-life examples, which made the book feel like a conversation with a wise friend. The chapters on setting boundaries, prioritizing self-care, and cultivating resilience were particularly valuable.
What sets 'Work-Life Tango' apart is its focus on finding peak performance in all areas of life. Bauer encourages you to strive for excellence, not just in your career, but in your relationships, health, and personal growth.
This book is a must-read for anyone seeking a more balanced, fulfilling life. Bauer's writing is engaging, relatable, and inspiring. I'm already implementing her strategies and seeing positive changes. Get ready to tango your way to happiness and success!"
I read Work life tango as a digital book and gave it 4 stars. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review. Work life tango is a nonfiction book talking about work, personal life, balance, health and is also classed as a self help and overall I enjoyed reading it. There was a lot of information, but I do love how it was broken down into chapters and then again into like sub-chapters, but I also really enjoyed the checkpoints at the end of each chapter. I did find WLT interesting and informative and while I don't agree with everything that was said, I will take away a couple things with me to practice on my own and take into account for my own life. I definitely related to some of the things that was mentioned. Overall, I did enjoy reading Work life tango and do recommend if you enjoy self help nonfiction books about the topics I have listed above.
I love these business type books - as I love building up my research lists for blog writings and this is another one that will be added to the list. I love that you can refer back to this at a different point of your work life and it will always bring value.
