It feels weird for me to be giving 5 stars to a book that I did not find at all quotable, but the more I reflected on this, the more I loved it. This book was a true invitation to me to enter and engage with the Lord anew. Not that I did not know about grace and glory, but there was something just gentle about the approach that allowed me to sink into it a little deeper and simply...abide.

I actually LIKE that at no point in this book did I think it so powerful or poignant that I was drawn away from it. That is, it's sometimes easy to read a line that really sticks with you and have to run to social media to share it or pull out a journal and write it down for yourself for later or any of thousands of things we like to do when we are positively stimulated in a direction that we want to hold onto. With this book, I was not distracted in such a way; I was able to sit with every single devotional, and I think that was the greatest gift of the whole thing (aside from Jesus, of course).

The prayers do not sound forced, nor are they heavy. They are relatable and human, which is a rare sensation for me to have in reading a pre-scripted prayer. So I appreciated that these, too, were part of the invitation.

My only regret was that, given that I was reading it as a pre-release, I had to "rush" through this book, rather than read it across the span of a year as it was intended. There were parts I would have loved to sit with more, but such is life. It is one I will pick up again in the future and read at a more leisurely pace, and it is one I will recommend to others.
