Description
Keepsake collection of supernatural folkore from Atlantic Canada, accompanied by original pen-and-ink illustrations.
Who is the lady in blue who haunts Peggys Cove? Why is there a strip of land called Ghost Alley in New Brunswick? Who is the ghost with a reserved seat in a PEI theatre? Why is Bell Island, Newfoundland, one of North America's most haunted places?
These questions and more are pondered in Atlantic Ghosts. This captivating collection of twenty-four pen-and-ink drawings from Nova Scotia artist Bee Stanton accompanies short tales of hauntings, strange sightings, forerunners, and other supernatural folklore from Atlantic Canada. From ghost dogs and werewolves to haunted lighthouses, inns, and ghost ships, Atlantic Ghosts is both a chilling introduction to the haunted coast as well as a gorgeous keepsake for anyone who loves the North Atlantic region.

3.5 stars - Sparked by the author's love of Inktober, this book is a collection of beautiful pen-and-ink illustrations paired with some of Atlantic Canada's infamous, spooky folklore. The tales themselves were entertaining, split between the heartwarming and the ominous, but often felt too short to really fall into, but the drawings added a depth that I really appreciated. Overall an enjoyable and interesting look at the haunted coast and ghosts of the North Atlantic.
