Description
Wasn’t she supposed to dream of a white Christmas? Right now, Ashlynne wishes the blizzards, ice and fog that have left her stranded in Venice would melt away. She’s facing a dreary holiday stuck at the airport—and she’s also run into her ex-husband.Lorenzo di Grechi insists Ashlynne stay with him at his sumptuous palazzo apartment. He’s also promising her Christmas Venetian-style: eating, drinking, and visiting the seasonal markets and musical concerts that make the city so enchanting at this time of year.
She thought she’d moved on: laid the ghosts of their marriage which had ended so sadly and badly to rest, along with how passionately she’d loved him. But the sexual attraction between them is still as potent as ever, and he seems to have changed for the better, forcing her to question her belief that he’d cheated on her at a time when she’d needed him most.
Is this just some sort of Christmas magic at work? Or a real chance to forgive and rediscover her love for Lorenzo?

What a great story. I loved all of the specific details about Venice, obviously the author has visited during the holidays and makes those experiences real for the reader.
Loved the sweetness of the story and was thrilled with the HEA for all.
Thank you for the opportunity to read prior to publication.
Great second chance love story. The hero and heroine had a chance second meeting at the airport and due to weather spent a couple days together. Well in that time some wonderful feelings and sparks return stronger then ever. Some past hurts are cleared up, add some new memories made to draw them together. Enjoyable story and character that are likeable. Wonderful holiday romance.
This was a great short read that truly encompassed difficulties couples have with balancing work and home life and the daily tragedies that may touch them. I enjoyed the way Joanne Walsh was able to show how much the two were still very much in love with each other. Overall a great read!
Christmas in Venice was truly a sweet second chance love story. This romantic short flowed nicely and had me smiling pretty much from beginning to end.

A beautiful story of mending hearts and second chances in the beautiful city of Venice, Italy.
Lorenzo di Grechio is heading out of Marco Polo airport after his flight to a tropical island has been canceled due to severe weather. Walking out he is suddenly shocked to see his ex wife huddled in a corner, trying to stay warm. He approaches and they speak for the first time in years. Five years to be exact, at Christmas time that year, their marriage suffered the final blow with no turning back. Ashlynne agrees to accompany him to his apartment, all flights are canceled, probably for a few days. She was headed from Athens to London to celebrate with her family, when the weather forced them to land in Venice. It's December twenty-third, she doesn't want to spend Christmas with Lorenzo, but staying at the airport is out of the question.
It was a fairy-tale love story. Ash loved Lorenzo with all her heart, but he was a major hotel tycoon, and working was his way of life. He was often traveling, and if he joined her with her family in London at holiday's it was for a day, and he was off again. Lorenzo was not there when her heart was broken and never really seemed to understand her grief. When she was at her lowest, a jealous woman told Ash terrible news that destroyed whatever was left of their marriage. They both have changed and matured in the last five years, but their feelings for each other are still strong. These few days will give them the opportunity to talk, hopefully to work out the misunderstandings and move on, together or not.
I was captured by the cover of this book. I love Christmas and Venice is one of my favorite cities. It's a heartwarming love story and the descriptions of the snow, the city and the food almost make you feel like your there. I highly recommend this entertaining holiday read.
I received this book from the publisher and NetGalley for an honest review.

Firstly thank you Tule Publishing Group for approving me for a review copy of this title from NetGalley. This is the first I’ve read from Joanne Walshe and was drawn to the book by its title after visiting Venice for the first time in the summer.
The story is told from both Ashlynne and Lorenzo’s point of view which was an added bonus to the actual location of the story. Ashlynne is stranded at Marco Polo Airport thanks to the Christmas weather where she runs into her ex-husband. Cue awkwardness!
The awkwardness between the two characters is prevalent in the beginning of the story. The tiptoeing around each other and the subject of the couple they used to be. I liked the serendipitous meeting in the airport because it had an almost Christmas miracle feel to it and set the tone for the rest of the story.
The story is short and fast paced with a free-flowing writing style which let the characters do all the talking. It’s set over the short period of time over Christmas and I liked how the story only focuses on this short space of time to better develop the renewed feelings between the characters. Lorenzo sounds like a reformed man from the passive, distant husband he was before and even his name sounds gorgeous. I loved seeing the change in him through Ashlynne’s eyes and their rekindling romance.
The image of Venice at Christmas is the complete opposite of the sun-summer image I have in my head but it sounds absolutely beautiful. I loved the magical setting and it really lends itself to the whole Christmas miracle idea of the story especially with the legends you hear about the magic romance of Venice.
This is part of the Christmas Around The World series and the two that I’ve read so far mention a website called Bramble House which ties them all together but I’m not quite sure what the connection is yet because I’ve read them out of order – not that I think it matters. This is book four.
It may just last through your flight home for Christmas but this little gem has Christmas shared with a handsome man in Venice, Italy about the most romantic thought ever! What could make it better? The old chemistry of love between our main characters from a failed marriage five years prior. The sights, sounds, customs, traditions of Venice and even, of England make the story even richer.
Ashlynne O'Reilly is on her way home to London for the holidays when a winter storm grounds her flight in Venice. As fate would have it, she runs into her ex-husband Lorenzo di Grechi who invites her to ride out the storm at his home. With no other available option, she accepts. The two agree to a Christmas truce, but efforts to put the past aside become difficult when Ashlynne realizes that she needs Lorenzo. Wasn’t she supposed to dream of a white Christmas? Right now, Ashlynne wishes the blizzards, ice and fog that have left her stranded in Venice would melt away. She’s facing a dreary holiday stuck at the airport—and she’s also run into her ex-husband.

Christmas in Venice is part of the Christmas Around the World series and as you can tell from the title of the book it takes place in Venice.
Ashlynne and Lorenzo were married but their marriage badly 5 years ago and they haven't seen or talked to one another for that long but when Ashlynne is stranded in Venice because of bad weather but then she run into her ex husband Lorenzo and they end up spending Christmas together.
Lorenzo wants Ashlynne to have the best Christmas ever and he plans to take her , drinking, and visiting the seasonal markets and musical concerts that make the city of Venice so enchanting at this time of year.
Can Ashlynne and Lorenzo move on from their past and get a second chance in love?
I really enjoyed reading about Lorenzo and Ashlynne love story, they both changed a lot since they were married and Lorenzo is trying to be honest and open about his feelings in order to prove to Ashlynne that he's honestly a change man and that he learned from past mistakes.
Ashlynne is still attracted and in love with Lorenzo but she is not sure that it will be enough since she finds it hard to trust Lorenzo and without trust they can't have a happy and lasting marriage.
I loved reading about Venice during the holidays, especially all the descriptions of the decorations, food and drinks.
Christmas in Venice is a great holiday novella that left a smile on my face when I finished reading it.
I enjoyed the feeling of being in Venice at Christmas with this book. Our story was told beautifully and our hero not only sexy and a hunk, but revealing his emotional growth and needs to someone he hurt - his ex. Our heroine held on to anger and it kept her going but once she realized it wasn't necessary any longer to keep it, she found true happiness and fulfillment. A wonderful romance with the hea ending.
I like stories of second chance so Christmas in Venice is just the kind of Christmas story I enjoy. This one is very well done. Bad weather leads to time together for a couple who haven’t moved on as much as they may have thought. Ashlynne and Lorenzo are given an opportunity to reconnect, reconciling the past as more mature adults and work to rediscover the love that first drew them together. The characters are ones that I hoped could overcome the past with some Christmas spirit of goodwill.
The snow adds to the charm of the Venice even though Ashlynne seeing it as working against her when she is stuck at the airport. Not a city I have traveled to visit, so I enjoyed seeing it through Ashlynne’s eyes. This story is a real Christmas gift.
The last person Ashlynne had hoped to run into in Venice during the snowstorm was her ex husband, Lorenzo. This was a wonderful story of healing hearts and what you can't change from the past but to move forward. Enjoyed all the flavors from Venice, makes me want to visit. A perfect Christmas read, highly recommend!
Another fantastic holiday read! While visiting Venice that last person Ashlynne expects to see is her ex-husband Lorenzo. The attraction they still have for each other is intoxicating and it seems there may be hope for them after all. This is an excellent story of forgiveness, trust, and rekindled love. A truly great read I recommend to everyone.
The setting really made the story. I felt like I was walking in Venice and taking in the sites. The wonderful description of the Italian holidays added to the ambiance of the story.
At times, I wanted to shake the couple to get them to actually really talk to each other. I understood their issues and how hard it was for her to forgive.
I did enjoy the story. I liked the characters and their road to romance. Good writing.
Who wouldn't want to be in Venice for Christmas? Noone. After reading Joanne Walsh's Christmas in Venice, I want to be on the plane headed that way and stay through the holidays. I love when a book gives me another reason to want to visit some place new. Add in a couple with a history, heartbreak, and attraction, and the reader gets an unputdownable holiday romance.
"Christmas in Venice" by Joanne Walsh is the fourth and final book in the multi-author Christmas series "Christmas Around the World". This last installment takes readers to beautiful Venice, Italy and is a second chance romance that finds ex-spouses brought together by an unexpected snowstorm during the one holiday that evokes very painful memories for them both. This book is racier than the three before it but it was definitely a great way to end a series that I've grown rather fond of. ^.^
Ashlynne O'Reilly and Lorenzo di Grechi haven't seen each other since their marriage ended in divorce five years ago. When Lorenzo finds Ash stranded at an airport, he offers her to she stay with him while waiting out the "once-in-a-century" snowstorm at the very apartment they once shared as a married couple. Things are awkward in the beginning and even though certain things have changed with both of them, it seems that the attraction and feelings never really went away.
After giving her life an overhaul post-divorce, Ash is still holding on to the anger she feels towards Lorenzo, what with the circumstances that led to the end of their marriage. She's finding it difficult to fully reconcile the obviously changed man before her and how things were five years ago. Even though her feelings for him are still very much alive and it's obvious he feels the same way about her, she's not sure there's any chance for a future together if she can't trust and forgive him.
Ah, second chance romances hold a special place in my heart, mainly because there's already a past that exists between the two lead characters and then something that forces them to let go of what they once had only to find each other again later on. For a series that's perfect for the cooler temperatures of the Christmas season, "Christmas in Venice" provides some heat and romance to keep readers warm and toasty. This series ender gets four stars. ♥
THIS I think was my favorite 'Christmas Around The World' book! What could be MORE romantic than a holiday in Italy?!?!?! AND a second chance romance !!!!
I loved reading about Venice during the holidays, especially all the descriptions of the decorations, food and drinks. Italy is the only country on my bucket list so this was special to me!
This is a story of two people, previously married to each other, who because of fate ;) get a second chance to love all over again!
You'll want to add this to your holiday reading because it's REALLY good!

What could be more beautiful than Christmas in Venice. Gondola rides along the river whilst the snow falls, Christmas markets and Italian food and drink, I lost myself in the setting and the romance this lovely novella brings. I love a second chance love story and Ashlynne and Lorenzo's brings a history that is painful and heartbreaking, but with hope. With so much left unsaid as their marriage disintegrated, can they put the past behind them or is there too much water under the bridge?
Lorenzo was exactly what I was hoping for; a gorgeous gentle and delectable Italian man who has learned from his mistakes. Ash was young when they married and time and circumstance have created a likeable determined woman whose feelings are reignited when she sees her ex-husband. Granted the short nature of the book brought everything together quicker than reality, but that's minor; sweet tender moments are balance with flirt and want and with a sprinkling of humour Joanne Walsh has created a captivating short romance that exudes festive charm.
This is a lovely novella about a divorced couple reuniting (maybe) in Venice at Christmas. The setting and characters are beautiful and make you really feel like you are there watching their lives.
Thank you to NetGalley and Tule Publishing for the opportunity to read this great story and provide an honest review.
I received a copy of this novella through NetGalley from the publisher/author (thank you!) for an honest review. I really liked this story. It had all my hot buttons for a good story. Hot hero - strong but not idiotic heroine - tragedy/heartbreak - but a HEA. The book is told in alternating points of view between Lorenzo and Ashlynne and set in Venice during Christmas. It's a novella and a standalone.
Ash and Lorenzo's story alternates between achingly sweet to heartbreaking and tragic. The author slowly reveals in each chapter the events that led to the end of their marriage. As soon as you think, oh geez, what else happened, sure enough something else piled on to create the roadblock to their happiness. Fortunately, all of it pulls together at the perfect pace to give the reader a full picture as to what happened and what was the root of their problems. And we see how much the characters, particularly Lorenzo, have grown.
SPOILER: Truthfully, I found very little or nothing to place blame on Ashlynne. She may have been stubborn and used what Claudia told her as a shield against Lorenzo, but what other evidence from his behavior proved otherwise? This is a case where actions speak louder than words. Lorenzo gave her very little to work with over their marriage - never really opening up about his past, being a workaholic 24/7, not respectful of her feelings (i.e. holiday traditions and with her family), etc. I absolutely swooned over Lorenzo and fortunately he grew a lot over the past 5 years to know most of the blame fell on him.
Claudia? Oh hell no. There's no way I could politely carry on a conversation with the woman who was the final catalyst to destroying my marriage. She preyed on Ashlynne for her own gain by not passing along the message she was miscarrying the baby and then to tell her soon after the details of their fake affair. And for her to chalk it up as oh you know... we were young it was so long ago I'm married now and have a kid - super sorry. Nope.
Learning to trust again and allow love into your heart again was the miracle that happened one snowy Christmas in Venice.
Without trust there is no chance for love or happiness, and luckily both the main characters were able to trust again.
Christmas in Venice was everything I had expected it to be. I loved this short story!
It’s Christmas and fans of Tule Publishing find themselves outside their favorite fictional town, Marietta Montana. But wait, the setting might be Venice, Italy, Yorkshire, England, the Scottish highlands and Waratah Bay, Australia but Marietta binds them all via the Bramble House website!
You can read the books in any order; all of them are standalone novellas. I’m just presenting it in the order I read it which began with Joanne Walsh’s “Christmas in Venice”, a second-chances love story between Ashlynne and her ex-husband Lorenzo di Grechi.
A story that tugs at your heartstrings, Ashlynne and Lorenzo goes through on what they thought of was a post-mortem of their marriage. All their pains and hurts were laid down on the table and what they found was something that they were not looking for. “Christmas in Venice” is a heartwarming story from beginning to end.
From Venice, we move to A Yorkshire Christmas by Kate Hewitt where sophisticated New Yorker Claire Lindell found love in an unexpected place, Ayesgill Farm in Yorkshire. But shepherd Noah Bradford comes with complications – a daughter; and Claire who is a schoolteacher is unsure if she can tackle kids outside the classroom.
Moving on, we go to the Scottish highlands where Scarlet Wilson tells us a story of “Christmas with the Laird”.
Due to a last minute change in programming, news anchor Juliette Connolly had to go to Scotland with her mysterious colleague Andrew Campbell. There, she was introduced to Garnock Hall and its ghosts. Is it Christmas or is it Halloween? Juliette and Andrew’s love story can give you both.
And finally, we cross the Atlantic and then the Pacific to Australia where Marion Lennox’s Christmas at Waratah Bay” follows farming tycoon Max Ramsey and American supermodel Sarah Carlton. Hmm, their occupations might not be the best match, but how they make it work is the true Christmas story.
All four books are Rated T for Teens and YA for Young Adults.
this was a wonderful book of rekindled love 5 yrs after a divorce. Lorenzo & Ashlynne have been divorced for 5 yrs because he wasn't there when she miscarried their baby on Christmas Day & his assistant told Ashlynne that they were having an affair & she was taking him from her. Meeting at the airport in Venice when her plane is forced to land due to bad weather is somewhat of a surprise. What's more surprising him taking her home to their old apartment & sharing Christmas together. Old hurts come out & neither thinks the other cares anymore but what becomes apparent is that they both are still in love with each other. Both have changed their lives, is there room for each other in them. When Ashlynne finally heads back home she is shocked to find out the actual truth of what she believed happened 5 yrs ago which causes her to make a quick decision about her future. Loved that it only took 3 days for their lives to change for the better.
What a lovely picture the author draws to the readers about Venice, and Italian Christmas traditions. I really enjoyed reading about the markets, the traditional Christmas time meals, and Christmas Eve meat free nine course dinner. Just lovely details put into the story that makes it unique.
Ashlynn and Lorenzo have lots of pain and hurt from the short marriage behind them. The whirlwind romance and short courtship didn't give them a chance to really get to know each other, or learn how to communicate with each other. Now, five years later, they get their own Christmas miracle, the time to salvage the relationship neither has gotten over with. They talk, share and cry together, built anew into the foundation they had before. Passionate story of second chances drizzled with Italian Christmas traditions
~ Four spoons!
Christmas and second chances, what could be better?
I really loved reading Christmas in Venice, the whole setting was wonderful. Ashlynne and Lorenzo are nice characters to read about, and how they've dealt with (old)love, loss, and lies.. This is a nice holiday season read that will leave you smiling.
Christmas in Venice by; Joanne Walsh Ashlynne and Lorenzo marriage did not end well. Yet she is now in Venice and bumps into none other than her ex husband. Are they really over each other? Will they find their way back to love? Great Story.
Come take. A lovely holiday trip to Venice with Ashlynne it may not be your real destination but It is a beautiful layover, I will warn you it is a bit emotional but lovely all the same! Ashlynne's plans for Christmas were to spend it with her family but a winter snowstorm strands her at Marco Polo Airport; the prospect of spending Christmas at the airport is dishearteningbut becomes more stressing that she runs into her ex- husband Lorenzo . Lorenzo is happy to to see Ashlynne , he has missed her and still loves her ; so he is taking this opportunity to try and win her back .
Lorenzo invites Ashlynne to stay at his Palazzo, spend Christmas with him, for Ashlynne the palazzo brings back memories of weekends and night spent together but also the bad memories, the loss of a child, the knowledge of his infidelity which he still denies, but in her heart she admits she still loves him. Lorenzo, proceeds to take Ashlynne , to all the traditional venetian holiday activities, gondala rides, Christmas shopping in the open market, meals in front of the fire place....Trying to win her back, but she still gets on that next plane.
A second chance , arises when Ashlynne runs into the very women who cheated with Lorenzo and the truth comes out.
The author has written a lovely story with wonderful imagery that brings Venice to life , a second chance at romance and redemption .
Loved this book could not put it down!

Christmas in Venice reminds me of one of the feel-good, somewhat (or a lot) sappy holiday movies I love to watch during Christmastime. Sure, the story is a bit predictable but the writing is clean, and you can't help but get a warm fuzzy reading about love in Venice at Christmas. Well done!
It was second book for me from this series. So far so good.. It was quick and easy to read and i couldn't put it down. From the beginning rooting for Ashlynn and Lorenzo to get back together. I have never visited Venice and now i really want to visit Venice and especially want to visit during Christmas time to see all those market and all the other places book has mentioned. I would recommend who loves reading romance books.
This is a sweet second-chance romance; five years ago Lorenzo di Grechi and his wife Ashlynne parted in the most horrible of ways.
After suffering a miscarriage, a very distant husband and then enduring a jealous woman's claim of an affair with Lorenzo; Ashlynne decides to divorce Lorenzo.
The story starts five years after the divorce when Ashlynne gets stranded in Venice after a snowstorm and to her misfortune/fortune Lorenzo rescues her and gives her a place to stay during the storm.
Stranded in Venice with his ex-wife whom he's never gotten over, Lorenzo decides he is going to make a go at getting a second chance, after all Christmas miracles happen all the time.
The story is sweet and enjoyable and it's full of holiday cheer (granted there will be a few scrooge moments); book four in the "Christmas Around the World Series" is all about second chances and rekindling love.
Rating 4 out of 5 Read@Book
Christmas In Venice was one of the most touching Christmas novellas that I’ve read.
When snowstorm strands Ashlynne in Venice, she finds herself accepting her ex-husband’s invitation to share a Venetian Christmas with him in the home they once shared together.
While the two share Christmas, they start uncovering why their marriage unraveled. Even though Lorenzo claims he’s a changed man, the past is still too raw for Ashlynne.
She must decide if she wants to keep nursing old wounds or start fresh with her ex-husband.
I loved Christmas In Venice. Not only did Joanne Walsh write a tender Christmas romance, she brought Venice to life.
I was drawn to Lorenzo. I could see how hard he was trying to show Ashlynne he changed. I could also see how much he loved her and wanted her back. While Lorenzo is a wealthy and prominent man, he is a self-made man who never had the best of childhoods. Because of the way he was raised, he never really knew how to love Ashlynne or let her in when they were married.
Now, that she’s back in his life, he wants to keep her.
Ashlynne lost a child and that was what started the great divide between her and Lorenzo. While she can see that he’s changed, she not sure that it’s enough to matter. I could feel the attraction and love she still held for Lorenzo but I could also see that her pain was so strong she was having trouble seeing past it.
I could not put my Kindle down and ended up reading this novella in an hour. The pacing was brilliant but as I read the eARC, there were a few typos so I am hoping those were dealt with.
Overall, Christmas In Venice was truly touching. The chemistry between the characters sizzled. This novella should be on everyone’s Christmas reading list.
This was my first time reading a novel by Joanne Walsh and I loved Christmas In Venice so much I purchased a copy of The Unexpected Bride.
This delightful reunited lovers romance is the story of Lorenzo and Ashlynne, divorced for five years when Ashlynne finds herself stuck in Venice and with an offer from her ex-husband to spend Christmas with him. I really enjoyed this tale. The scenes between the couple were emotional and heartfelt, dealing with the issues of the past that ended their marriage but also revealing how they had changed during their separation. The sexual attraction between them was still present and led to some steamy love scenes. I particularly liked the setting, the detail put into the story about how it feels to be in Venice at Christmas. It was a wonderful read, definitely full of holiday spirit. 5 stars!
This book had me laughing, crying and fanning myself. I loved everything about this book and look forward to reading more by this author in the future
3 - "We didn't spend enough Christmases together, did we?" Stars.
Letting go of the past, and looking towards the future are the strong themes that run through the final novella in the Christmas Around the World Series. And what a series it has been, all novellas have had their own individual characters and story-lines, all have been extremely enjoyable and totally different from their companions in the series.
So to Venice we go!
"Here's to the tree, and to Christmas and to us."
Lorenzo and Ashlynne haven't seen each other in 5 years... A devastating loss, a betrayal, and eventually divorce lead them to part ways and divorce. A freak snow storm strands Ash at Marco Polo Airport on the eve of Christmas, and as luck would have it Lorenzo, has just landed on his way back home to Venice.
He always did have the power to charm and disarm her.
Being bought together for Christmas forces them both to face the mistakes from their marriage, its breakdown and the decision of where the future will take them is also an important part of the story between Lorenzo and Ash.
A great finale, to an absolutely stellar series of Christmas novellas.
ARC generously provided via Netgalley, in exchange for the above honest review.
This book I would have to say is not like the others in the series, however each book is kind of standalone so you don't need to read in order. I did like the storyline it was really a sweet. The story starts off with 2 exes running into each other in the airport on the way to different places for Christmas, and the story goes from there. I love the passion in each one of the characters. I think it was really cool how the author wrote on a tough subject that not a lot of people touch. The Christmas story and how Lorenzo's heart changed and now what he does is pretty cool. I will say that there is some strong language. over all a sweet christmas read.
I really enjoyed the setting of this novel - the characters were warm and you really wanted them to get back together.
This was the first book I have read by this author but I enjoyed it and did recommend it to some of my blogger friends.
A twist of fate and some bad weather strands Ashlynne in Venice during Christmas and offers her a second chance with her ex-husband, Lorenzo, when he runs into her at the airport and offers her a place to stay. Their marriage ended badly and they both have things to work through, but time has passed and both have grown. Ashlynne has never had a true Christmas in Venice, so Lorenzo finds himself working hard to make Christmas special. The story develops well, and, while I would have loved a longer story, I don't feel short-changed.
A sweet Christmas story that shows the true meaning of Christmas with lots of love and forgiveness. The characters were developed nicely, and I felt I got a pretty true picture of the two characters, both past and present. I loved the descriptions of Venice and all the Venetian Christmas traditions.
The last of the Christmas Around the World stories, I love how it also linked to the Bramble House Blog in Marietta, Montana.
Ashlynne and Lorenzo di Grechi divorced five years ago after she had a miscarriage and learnt he was having an affair with his PA, Claudia. They haven’t seen or spoken to each other since until snow grounds Ashlynne's flight in Venice and he sees her in the airport terminal. He invites her to stay with him in his palazzo apartment until flights are again available. The apartment is the one they used to share, but though many things have changed now their mutual attraction is still potent. Will Christmas rekindle their love? Can they learn to be honest and trust each other? Have they changed enough to let them have a future together?
This is such an emotional roller coaster story, one that pulls the reader in to the trauma and angst of the couple and make this a great book. Their pain at losing each other is dramatically portrayed. The setting is obviously the fantastic romantic city of Venice but the author has researched and found out about the less touristic aspects of living there and shares these in a caring manner that just enhances the story. I also loved the link back to Marietta and Bramble House which appear in other books in this series, too!
A sweet, second chance romance that takes the reader on an emotional journey to a happy ending. I highly recommend this great read.
**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review**
Ashlynne was divorced from Lorenzo five years ago. Ashlynne was on her way back to London when her plane was grounded in Venice due to weather. Lorenzo saw her at the airport and offered to let her stay with him. Ashlynne was now 28, but Lorenzo still had the power to charm and disarm her. Ashlynne had miscarried their baby on Christmas Day so she really was not into the Christmas season. Ahslynne also believed that Lorenzo was having an affair with his assistant Claudia. Lorenzo wasn't one to show his feelings, something he learned coming from a bad childhood. His mom was a prostitute and was beaten to death when he was eight and his grandmother preferred her alcohol over him.
I did enjoy this book. I enjoyed seeing Lorenzo's growth as well as Ashlynne's. I would recommend it to anyone that likes a good romance.
*I received an e-ARC of Christmas in Venice from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
Read on for my thoughts on Christmas in Venice. No true spoilers, promise.
We don’t often get second chances. Ashlynne has to decide if taking a second chance on her ex-husband Lorenzo is truly worth the risk to her heart. When her plane has been diverted to Venice due to a huge weather system across Europe, Ashlynne is already stressed. When she looks across the terminal into her ex-husband’s eyes resolve hardens her runaway emotions. Here was the man who once was her world, until he destroyed it.
Lorenzo never stopped loving his wife. Never. But he was not a man to stay where he obviously was not wanted. Seeing Ash at the airport brought back such memories, and in the back of his mind he couldn’t help but wonder if the unusual blizzard had been a Christmas miracle in disguise.
This couple had some serious, deep baggage to handle. With the storm raging around them, Lorenzo and Ashlynne returned to his Venice apartment, their former home, to wait out the blizzard. Emotions are never far from the surface as two people who meant everything to each other try to navigate through Christmas without further heartbreak.
In any novella the author has to pack a full length story into a much fewer words and still deliver a great story. Ms Walsh was able to do that and more. We have this couple’s story laid out in front of us- the good, the bad and the ugly – and it is heartbreaking. How Lorenzo and Ash move beyond their pain and into a future together is a tale to touch the most hardened heart.
I know that the season is past now – but it’s never too late or too early to add another heartfelt Christmas love story to your read it again list. This one goes on my keeper shelf to enjoy for many Christmases to come.
I received Christmas in Venice as an e-Arc via NetGalley. I tend to jump at any book set in Italy. Christmas in Venice was a nice read. It is a story about a woman who is stranded in Venice, Italy due to inclement weather just before Christmas and runs into her ex-husband while standing in the airport. He takes her in so she does not have to wait in the airport indefinitely and the story chronicles their rehashing of the reasons their marriage failed. It is a good short-story with color characters. The husband had a bit more depth than the wife though she had valid reasons for her decisions. The only negative here was the editing, but it was an e-Arc and I am assuming the grammatical errors and awkward word choices were updated with the final release of the book.
This lovely story is all about second chances. There is no better time for that than Christmas! I loved reading about Ashlynne and Lorenzo. This was another wonderful read from the "Christmas Around the World" series.
This is the perfect book to read on vacation or just when you want a hot escape. Overall a fun and light escape with moments of realism truly worth the money and the time to read.
Such a great story! Looking forward to more from this author!
What a wonderful book. So sweet and it was just great. She is a great writer.
I enjoyed this quite a bit. Exactly what I want in a quick holiday romance. It's short, nice, descriptive setting, with just the right amount of emotion, romance and steam. I sometimes feel like Goldilocks in my quest for holiday romances - too sappy, not romantic enough, not enough or too much drama, too much or not enough sex, But this one was just right.
Ashlynne's plane is routed to Venice during a snow storm near Christmas. She was on her way to London to spend the holiday with her family. Instead, she runs into her ex-husband, Lorenzo, who she hasn't seen in five years. He offers to let her stay with him, in the home they once shared, until the airport re-opens.
Their marriage ended bitterly, with Ashlynne heartbroken and grieving, convinced her husband was cheating on her. During their five years apart, the two have both matured some and learned more about themselves and what they did wrong during their time together. What they think at first is nothing more than lingering sexual chemistry eventually turns into emotional breakthroughs for each of them. Together they begin to realize that he hid his feelings while she clung to her anger causing their marriage to fall apart.
I enjoyed the way the characters finally learned to communicate with each other and forgive the misunderstandings of their past, all while strolling along the beautiful alleyways of Venice or riding along the canals.
Very nice story with a happy ending.
