One of a set of six books that define and discuss the varieties of scientific careers, for the older primary school child. This gives examples of what an ichthyologist might be concerned with, or what a herpetologist concentrates on at work, and so much more. We get a page of text and a more pictorial page to follow, which can often have box-outs and captions and bonus factoids, but not in a way that interrupts any flow from the main text. It is, then, very readable, very informative, and only encourages you to think of science as a life option. A commendable approach – four and a half stars.

This is a great. simple, and easy-to-understand guide to zoology for young readers. All advanced terms are explained in age-appropriate language, which is a perfect way to expand vocabularies. Additionally, I really appreciated how specific this book got, rather than just having a broad explanation of zoology. It creates for a much more interesting and rich book that is full and well-rounded in its information. Lastly, I have one small note to make. I would have liked to see pronunciations included with the bolded terms. This will add a cherry on top of the facts listed, and it also lets readers get more involved in the topic of the book in a different way. Great book!

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it would just be a general book about zoologists and what they do (ie study animals). But the author goes over different career paths that zoologists could take such as herpetology or marine biologist. This really shows children how diverse this career path is and opens up the possibility of them finding an area that might interest them.
