Description

A Truth Stranger Than Fiction, the 3rd novel in the critically acclaimed Dakota Stevens Mystery Series, delves into the bizarre, interconnected world of foreign spies and fangirls, mobsters and murderers, government bureaucrats and corporate profiteers.

Manhattan PI Dakota Stevens has just moved into new offices on Fifth Avenue when a young woman walks in with a problem: her older brother, a famous science fiction author, has been missing for a week.

Before Dakota even has a chance to take the case, he and the young woman are accosted by a horde of people searching for the brother: government agents, thugs, mobsters, and two mysterious Chinese men. What could her brother possibly be into?

In a case that leads from the streets of Manhattan to the woods of Upstate New York, to Boston and the shores of Maine, to Washington, D.C. and the Midwest—by foot, train, truck, boat and private jet—what begins as a simple missing persons investigation quickly devolves into the most difficult and personal case of Dakota’s career.

In the end, Dakota exposes a secret that literally has the power to change the world.

And the truth is a truth stranger than fiction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chris Orcutt's Dakota Series Lands a Solid Third Knockout January 4, 2015

By Jason SadofskyWith this third outing of the "Dakotas", Chris Orcutt has shown himself (again) as a smooth-writing, top-notch, world class novelist. A Truth Stranger Than Fiction has it all - action, adventure, introspection, emotion and buckets of mystery to track down. I bought it the day it came out and had to switch devices to finish it when the batteries ran out on the first. Maybe I was gripping the poor iPad too tight.

I hate reviews that feel they have to explain the plot to you, and get into spoiler country, to "review" how the book is. Forget that; the book is great. Excellent. It starts out strong, and never lets up. Trust me - if you're lucky to have read the first two in the series, you've got an amazing third volume awaiting you.

The only regret you'll have is when you finish it and you realize you finished the series (so far) and you're gonna have to wait it out until the next one comes out. Suck it up.

I envy the hours of enjoyment you have yet to have, if you haven't read this yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read! January 6, 2015By WB60
This book takes the Dakota Stevens series to another level of intrigue. Just when you think you know what is going to happen next, you're presented with a twist that takes the story in another direction completely. Excellent writing, fun to read, and full of action, intrigue, drama, and romance! Can't wait for the next Dakota Stevens novel.
