This is a great book to use a guide to buying natural or green cosmetics and skincare.

I loved this book. Ms. Padgett delivers the information on what really is green in the cosmetic world, what is not, and what really to avoid. This is done in a clear, down-to-earth, concise fashion. And Ms. Padgett comes across as being a caring and concerned person without an overblown ego. Very nice.

Ms. Padgett has consulted the right experts to explain the basic chemical problems with the bad cosmetic additives (parabens, etc.) and what can replace them. She also has included very useful websites so that the reader can check out how safe her cosmetics are, and if they are unsafe, how to replace them. This is advice I'm already using.

And since she is a professional make-up artists, she treats us to a number of different looks and how to achieve them by using green cosmetics.

Paige, thanks for writing such a useful and timely book. All of us who use cosmetics appreciate your graciously sharing your extensive knowledge with us.

A really good read!

Being new to trying "green" or more natural beauty products and techniques I was thrilled with the chance to read, learn from and review this book. I have spent tons of time searching blogs, sites, etc. to try and learn about what to look for, what to avoid, where to shop, how to see what is safe and not safe, etc. This book puts it all out there.

I thought the presentation was artsy and informative. I enjoyed that it read in a way that I felt more confident in looking at brands and ingredients used in their products that I wanted to try and just in my overall skin care routine. What I loved was that this book is for everyone. Many sites and books present information for healthier lifestyles but then you must have a large income to purchase all the groceries, machines, products, etc. Here though there are suggestions and things to look for and to avoid for all individuals who are ready to start taking care of their skin. I would recommend this book to any that are just starting out in going "Green", but I also would suggest that those who are more comfortable in a green beauty regiment check it out for more tips, suggestions, brand feedback and more!

A great read on advice of how to go fully green with your beauty routine. A lot of people would benefit greatly from this. Especially pregnant women, or people that need to detox and get harmful chemicals out of their systems.

I read this book in one setting, it was so interesting! Padgett is not only a professional makeup artist but also an advocate for more green beauty products. She believes strongly that we have a duty not only to the environment but also to our own health. I usually only focus on the health aspect of using more green beauty products but she provided good examples of how they are intertwined. Paige Padgett writes in a no-nonsense and straight froward manner but you can tell she is truly passionate about the beauty industry. I really enjoyed her approach, although she is well-educated about beauty products, she is realistic in acknowledging that sometimes we aren't willing to give up all our beauty “essentials” and also that sometimes its ok to select a less than perfect product.

She approaches the toxins ( bad ingredients) beauty products as essential as looking at the ingredients in food, medication and other areas of life. I first heard of her from Jillian Michaels recommending her. I like that she doesn't simply just promote her own line of great beauty products, she recommends other companies products as well as what specifically to look for and what to avoid for ingredients. I was surprised to learn that just because something contains organic ingredients doesn't mean it is completely natural/organic and also that natural does not necessarily mean skin-healthy. She provides a tool for how consumers can assess how healthy a product truly is for our skin. I felt that she taught me the basic skills to learn how to determine a beauty products quality. I plan on keeping this book as a reference. She provides an actual step by step guide on how to declutter and get the bad products out of your skincare regimes, makeup bag and more.

I received The Green Beauty Rules by Paige Padgett from NetGalley in return for an honest review. I found this book to be informative and educational without preaching on environmental issues or how chemicals will ruin my life. The author takes a realistic approach to makeup and how we use it in the real world. Along with product info, she also gives us tips on achieving different looks. I really enjoyed the lists of ingredients and the reasons they may be considered harmful. This can be an invaluable tool when making decisions on what to purchase. I feel like I've been given the information and it's up to me on how to use it. What a refreshing change from the usual guilt and shame most of us deal with nowadays! Thank you Paige for a great resource.

This book is a Beauty Bible. It has a tremendous amount of information about beauty products, ingredients, and companies. It answers so many questions I’ve always wondered about, but had no one to ask. Paige also provides her favorite companies, products, tips, books, and websites. There is an overwhelming amount of beauty products for sale in stores, and it’s difficult to blindly decide which products to try. This book educates me on healthy and unhealthy ingredients, which makes me feel confident in my product choices. I am not familiar with many of the company names recommended, so I have homework to do. The Green Beauty Rules is a must have in my healthy beauty arsenal.
