This eBook format of a 1993 mass produced paperback. It is the first boo of Lynn Kerstan's I have read but I will definitely read more. The main characters in this book are oil and water they don't mix well together. Mark Coltrane is a rather straight laced earl. Yes, he was a spy for England but unfortunately was imprisoned and tortured for a year. He feels guilty, guilty that he survived when his friends did not, guilty that he was captured, guilty that his father died when he was finally released. Into his very ordered life comes Jillian Lamb, who for some reason turns out to be his ward. They can not seem to be in the same room without sparks flying. He wants her to find a husband, she only wants to go home. He leaves her with his aunt and leaves London. When he returns he is in for a big surprise. To find out how he handles his surprise and what the sparks become you must read this book. I like how the author keeps throwing in different situations and issues, saving the resolution until closer to the end. If this author's book had not been released in eformat, I probably would not have discovered a new to me author. I am hoping one of her books tells Robin and Mary's story. It sounds like it would be an interesting read.
