This book is fabulous! It is a workbook full of writing skills including punctuation and capitalization. It uses cute illustrations and fun activities to practice. Highly recommended for young elementary students!
Adventures in Writing is a fun workbook. It really challenges the child to pick the correct answer and learn, but its from games, coloring, cutting, mazes, etc. I would have loved this at the target age (6 to 7 years old). English, like History is a subject that is hard to make fun for kids, and it is really hard for a kid to learn if it's boring. They don't like it, you don't like pushing… lots of times it is a hard struggling process where no one really wins. This book is great for a homeschool child or one struggling in English. This workbook would be a great "outside of the box" addition for your learning curriculum. I am really excited to try this with my first grader this year, last year was a struggle in English and I think the games are wonderful. A lot of kids not only struggle with English but they have a hard time with glue, scissors, staying in the lines. This workbook works on a lot of angles, it is not a single focus kind of book. Yes, it does primarily work on English/Writing but it is nice because it lets the child explore, learn and create.
I received a free copy of this workbook for an honest review.
I am studying to be an elementary school teacher and I thought this interactive workbook was awesome! I think that it would be beneficial for any young learner with the basic structures of writing. This includes capitalization, punctuation and other basic units of writing but they are presented in a fun colorful and informative format that would appeal to a young bright audience.
This is a workbook for children aged 6 - 7 years old designed to provide a range of fun activities to promote children’s writing. There are activities to encourage the use of sentences which are correctly structured and punctuated, stimuli to encourage children to use their imagination including art based activities, story stimuli and a variety of worksheet activities to help children consolidate their learning of the skills taught. There are additional support materials available on the associated website, too.
This is a very useful resource book to help children succeed as writers. Teachers and parents of children in this age range should check it out to see if it is appropriate for their children. It could also be a useful source of ideas for teachers motivating their pupils. There are a few aspects that UK teachers would need to amend as the terminology used is American English based - for instance ‘full stops’ are referred to as ‘periods’ and the vocabulary used is also spelt in the American rather than UK format (e.g. color rather than colour). Having said that, it is still full of great ideas that could easily be adapted for use in the classroom wherever you are in the world.
Thanks to the authors, publisher and NetGalley, too for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Review will be posted November 13 Adventures in Writing is a workbook of imagination and writing geared for 1st graders aged 6-7. The book is very interactive with flash cards, activities and worksheets for your child to try to help learn the points that are being taught in the book. I kind of wish I was 6, because it looks like it is a lot of fun! At the end of each chapter is a "Great job!" certificate to show that you have mastered the chapter and are a superstar! You can also color it in, too. Each chapter builds on the lessons taught in the previous chapters as well to help really bring the message home. All of the cut out activities and coloring activities look like they would be a lot of fun - while being very educational as well!
If you are a teacher or have a kid who is 6-7 years old in your life, you'll want to check out this book to help teach them the rules of writing!
I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review. I was not otherwise compensated.
This is a workbook designed to help first graders learn capitalization, punctuation, sentence completion, and creative writing. It also provides a few mazes, paper folding, and other activities to go along with creative writing prompts. It's probably a good supplement for some students. The book is a compilation of several previously published workbooks. This review is based on an advance review e-galley provided by the publisher through NetGalley for review purposes.
This is a great workbook for first graders. It introduces beginning writing rules, such as capitals, punctuation, sentences, sight words, etc.
The illustrations in this workbook are fantastic! They help to make the book more fun and exciting for young kids. There is plenty of hands-on learning and activities. The kids get to cut and paste, color, practice writing their letters, mazes, and more. I loved it that other areas of study were included, such as math, art, and science.
There are great writing prompts for the kids using fun illustrations so the kids can practice creative writing.
This would be a great addition to public school lessons or homeschooling.
This is a fun workbook for 6 to 7 year olds. It introduces punctuation, capitals and sentences.
It has many activites like picking the correct answer, writing your own story, mazes, cutting and pasting castles. I liked the Dinaousaur Pirate.
Another excellent resource from Education.com. I loved how the material was presented. It was kid-friendly and yet big on teaching foundational lessons...without being overwhelming.
This book ought to be in every classroom for younger kids. Great gift for your child's teacher, if they do not already own it.
This workbook from education.com was really great! It is age appropriate for 1st graders. The instructions were easy to understand and the illustrations were very nice. The book offers a variety of fun activities, a cute build-your-own dinosaur pirate, mazes, pop-ups, creative story writing, and math. I would recommend this book to teachers looking for some new and fresh!
