A great educational workbook that also incorporates reading and writing skills. Passages will ask children to find the main idea or retell portions of the passage. Very interesting and informational.

My only criticism is the 2nd grade label. I feel the reading passages are more appropriate for third graders, or even struggling fourth grade readers.

I loved it for the fact that it guide children/teenager to learn to read and answer with right response or sometimes wrongs but still provide and explained how to read, how to answer. But each biography were quite hard to remember even they were short and very well written but still wouldn't be managable to answer with one single read from child to teenager. The facts/biography were awesome, I even learned many things so I won't say it for child. It a good educational book.

Review will be posted November 13 History & Me is a workbook of historic figures and family research. In addition to teaching children in the 2nd grade age range about historic figures, there are also a lot of fun activities throughout the book. It starts out with teaching about biographies and has an area for the child to answer questions about themselves that would be the start of their own biography! The book teaches about women in history, all while teaching your child reading comprehension skills as each short biography is followed up with a few questions about what they just read. The American Heroes section has a lot of fun word scrambles to help answer the questions following each of the biographies. Presidential Potpurri has a bunch of fun activities throughout while teaching about some of the more famous presidents. After you trace your roots in the final chapter of the book, you will have everything that you need in order to write your autobiography!

I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review. I was not otherwise compensated.

This contains several activities designed to increase reading comprehension and writing skills using activities based on history. The "She's So Cool" section contains activities based on women's biography. The "American Heroes" section uses important figures from American history as a basis for the activities. All the subjects are U.S. Presidents in the "Presidential Potpourri" section. Barack Obama, the current president, is one of those included. My personal favorite section, because of my interest in genealogy, is the one on "Tracing Your Roots." While it is a good starting point for pre-teens interested in learning about their family history, the charts are not very adequate. The four sections were taken from other Education.com publications with the same titles as the sections. This review is based on an advance e-galley provided by the publisher through NetGalley for review purposes.

A workbook that is full of United States history and learning about it. It even includes learning about the history of your own family! Certificates are at the end of each section rewarding the student for the work that has been done. Besides learning history, one learns how to read critically and learn new vocabulary besides gaining writing skills. I think that it will be fun for students to use this workbook besides getting educated. I enjoyed reading this workbook. I even learned some facts about people that I did not know. This is an excellent book.

I actually love History & Me a lot. It is a superb resource for young minds. The basic black and white worksheets and activities, mixed with colorful accents and photos make this book both interesting and engaging. I would have loved to have my hands on a hard copy of this workbook. It is just right for an introductory level for the targeted grades.

Prior to reviewing this ARC, I was not aware of Education.com's workbook style books, but after my exposure to this one, I cannot wait to learn more about what they offer, in terms of educational materials.

NetGalley ARC for review in exchange for an honest critique
