Description
A popular, young royal couple can’t produce an heir? INCONCEIVABLE!
When Ozarks native Hatty goes “whole hog” during karaoke, she catches the eye of Prince John. He isn’t what she expects the heir to a small European nation to be: he’s affable, witty, and isn’t put off by her tell-it-like-it-is demeanor. Their flirtation should be short lived, but a force stronger than fate—Hatty’s newspaper editor—assigns her to cover the royals. After spending time together, she and John soon begin dating, and Hatty finds herself making headlines instead of writing them.
But challenges loom that are even more complicated than figuring out how to mesh Hatty’s journalism career with life at Belvoir Palace. Hatty and John soon find themselves embroiled in an unusual sex scandal: they can’t produce an heir. Tabloids dub Hatty a “Barren-ess,” and the royals become irate. Hatty politely tells them to shove it. But beneath her confident exterior, she struggles to cope with a heartbreak that invades her most intimate moments with John. Pressured to choose between invasive medical procedures and abandoning John’s claim to the throne, the couple feels trapped until a trip to Ethiopia shows them happy endings sometimes arrive long after saying “I do.”

cool love story set in a unique modern court of royalty where love is tested
**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review**
Hattie is 22, looks younger, and went to sing karaoke at Finn's Bar. She's a reporter intern and graduates in May. Hattie met Prince John while sitting at the bar. She and Prince John seemed to like each other and eventually start dating. The story and overall plot was pretty good. The characters were excellent, but some of the twists and turns I just didn't enjoy even though I did understand them. It was still a good story and I would recommend to anyone that likes this genre.
Inconceivable is so much fun! I loved this twist of a journalist capturing a Prince's attention. I loved how quirky and klutzy the main character was, The way that these two met was so great. I was captured by the first chapter and I couldn't put it down!
From the moment I picked this book up, I could not put it down. I have never read a story like this. It was light and romantic, but balanced the real life frustrations of a couple trying to conceive, Overall this was a very good read.
What happens when a gorgeous prince meets an all-American girl in a bar? A perfect, wonderful, beautiful, and magical love story!
I was mesmerized by the book and the characters from the very first pages of Inconceivable! John and Hatty’s first meeting was one to remember…magical yet ordinary. Hatty meets Prince John in a bar while out with her friends. She really has no idea who he is until one of her friends tells her. There is an instant attraction, but the couple come from two different worlds. He’s royalty, and his life is scrutinized and photographed by the press. She’s a student studying abroad and is definitely not royal..oh did I mention, she is interning as a journalist! The two together shouldn’t work, yet they somehow bridge that gap and fall in love. However, as the couple will learn, just because you live a life of privilege doesn’t mean real life issues won’t affect you. The two will encounter some major bumps along their journey to HEA. Will they be able to do it?
Both the story and characters were so well-written and developed, and those elements pulled me into the story immediately. Prince John could be my Prince Charming anytime! He’s sexy and gorgeous, but his heart is as beautiful as his face and body. Hatty was refreshing. She wasn’t depicted as a perfect person either physically or emotionally, but she was beautiful to me. She’s just Hatty to me, and that’s special in itself. No wonder John falls for her so quickly. She brings the “ordinary” into John’s “extraordinary” world!
While the book was a fairy tale romance, it was realistic too. It gave me a better understanding of what royalty and celebrities deal with in their lives. Nothing is private…not their relationships nor their struggles. It takes a special person to be able to live that way. John was somewhat used to it, though he didn’t like it. It was all new to Hatty, and my heart went out to them, but especially Hatty when she had to endure her struggles in the public eye. I cannot even begin to imagine what that was like.
The title of the book was pure genius! It describes their relationship, and also takes on an even deeper meaning. I love when a title sums up the gist of a book. It was a perfect fairy tale for grown-ups. There was love and romance yet with a dose of reality. It illustrates that the issue the couple face knows no ethnic or social class. May I just add, the formatting was gorgeous too! Thank you Teagan for a great book! Can’t wait to see what the future holds for you and us, your readers and fans!

I am a sucker for a heart warming Royal Romance novel. They speak to the inner princess of my youth and show me that there is always a small chance to find your prince to whisk you away for a wonderful tale full of happily ever afters. Inconceivable! has a powerful twist to that girlish desire and it brings this storyline to life in a real and refreshing way. This book starts at the very first moments in a new relationship and takes the reader through the ups and downs of a royal romance, showing the good, the bad, and the ugly of royal politics. It shows the bloom of romance and the reality of heartache.
Tegan Wren does a great job of setting up a romance that is a whimsical story with a hard dose of reality. Hatty is a strong headed woman, determined to take life as it comes and make a place for herself in the world she loves. She embraces life to the fullest and her honest and feisty disposition draws in the attention from none other than Prince John. When these two first meet it is funny and sweet. They connect and are drawn to one another. Watching them fall in love is adorable and a whirlwind of activity. You get a bit of a glimpse into a royal courtship, the secretive rendezvous and the stolen moments. I loved how this book shows the story from their romance and relationship, but it also has snippets of tabloids and newspaper articles of what the public perceive to be happening. It was interesting to see the truth of what was going on and to read the lies and propaganda of the media, which creates a delicious tension throughout the story.
I enjoyed how this story goes past the fairytale. It takes you though the courtship and the honeymoon phase and straight into the harsh reality of a royal life. Hatty is a strong woman but there are somethings that break her beyond recognition. It was both beautiful and heartbreaking to watch her go through everything that happens in this book. She is confident and sure but things get dicey and you see the toll is takes on her. Watching bother Hatty and John embrace the life they have and work towards the future they want is endearing. Tegan Wren addresses some poignant themes that are not always addressed in stories today. The threat of infertility and the reality of a prognosis is a struggle to read. The hope and the heartbreak are so well developed in this story. You see a struggle for blame and understanding. This theme coupled with the royal romance lends a reality check to the genre. It dives into something that seems almost taboo in the HEA realm.
This book was fantastic. I loved the characters, the romance, the quirkiness, and the emotion. Watching Hatty and John embrace their reality and create a future that was absolute perfection in my eyes sealed the deal for me. They took their longing and found a place to fulfill it. Inconceivable! is a story that will take you on a journey that delves well into life after the girl gets her Prince. It shows the hardships of royal life coupled with bliss of true love and the reality of heartache. Tegan Wren is on my must watch radar and I am excited to see what she has up her sleeve. This debut novel is fabulous!

I read this in one night. It was a very quick and easy read, and I fell into the lives of Hatty and John from page one. I've read enough royal romance books that I appreciated that this followed the couple after marriage into an area that I don't believe had been explored in fiction before: which is, the incredible pressure to produce the heir and the spare soon after marriage.
The first part of the book follows Hatty and John's courtship (actually called that by John, thanks to royal tradition), and maneuvering the trials and tribulations of keeping their relationship a secret, her balancing her budding journalism studies and career with potential conflicts with John's family, and trying to maintain some semblance of normalcy amidst everything. This is stuff that is old-hat for anybody who has read another fictional royal romance, and I can't help but compare it to The Royal We, this past year's big royal family fictional hit. But then Wren takes it further.
The bulk of the book follows the couple post-royal-wedding, and focuses on their being unable to have a baby. This failing becomes political with the rest of the royal family, and gossip fodder for the tabloids.
Wren treats Hatty and John's trials with infertility in a compassionate and completely believable manner (which becomes clear why when I read her author's bio at the end of the book). And I loved that the book didn't end neatly and that she didn't take the easy way out. Instead, I appreciated that Wren did not have Hatty and John conceive a baby in the end, but instead found their own way of creating a family that was free of their country's, family's, and the public's expectations.
A truly enjoyable read that I'm glad I got the opportunity to review.
Inconceivable! was not what I was expecting. I was expecting a fun romp with a dreamy prince, a naive young American woman and some royal hi-jinks. What I got was the dreamy prince, a strong woman who speaks her mind and, of course the required tension and hi-jinks. Hatty is an American journalism student in the small European country of Toulene. She then has a meet-cute with heir to the throne Prince John and shenanigans ensue. The world building was a little shaky at the start as I was unsure of where it was supposed to be set; but once resolved was quite good. The plot and characters were well done and well detailed. I really enjoyed that Inconceivable! was not a typical cookie-cutter romance. Yes the first half was devoted to the romance, dating and family drama, but it story really came into its own in the second half. I am not sure if I have ever read a book detailing the struggle with infertility so candidly as Inconceivable! does. It painted the struggle in realistic strokes; and the pain felt by the characters was palpable. What I enjoyed most about Inconceivable! was the ending. I am a spoiler free zone, so I will just say that it was not at all what I expected in the best way. It did not wrap up the story in a neat bow but rather wrapped it in shades of reality; and for that I must applaud Tegan Wren for such an honest and heart-felt book.
I adore this book, it's as awesome as its cover. It 's a love story sweet and romantic but very realistic: a tale intriguing and engaging on what happens after happily ever after of fairy tales. I has been captured from the first page, the first meeting between the prince and the foreign student is special, magical but very real.
Hatty wants to become a journalist and is doing an internship. She's assigned to write an article about the royal family. To do this, she must to attend several receptions. But instead of studying the family she spends her time talking to Prince John. They begin dating and immediately feel of being in love. But their story is not simple. Hatty not belong to this world and it is difficult for her to adapt: no longer has a private life, has completely lost her privacy and her in-laws constantly criticize her. Things get worse when they are expected to generate an heir to the throne. Their love is so strong that it can deal with it?
Prince John is wonderful: he is charming, sweet, polite. Hatty is a simple girl, full of life, extravagant. It's the dream of every little girl find a prince to marry. Hatty has managed to achieve it but did not know that marry John would marry an entire country!!
It 's a novel fresh, funny and witty. It 's a wonderful tale about the difficulties of living the daily life of a couple in love. I can not wait to read more of this great author.
The cover and description pulled me in- a prince? Royals? Girl from Midwest? And it didn't let me down. I devoured this book in 2 nights, staying up way too late but I didn't want to put it down. This wasn't a typical Cinderella and prince story, it had a realistic feel to it (even with a made up town and kingdom). I personally enjoyed the references to Missouri, being from there myself. The one thing I wanted more of was a bit more personal side of the prince, he felt like an add on to the story at times. I think a few more details and interactions with him would have developed his character a little more. Overall really enjoyed this book and can't wait to recommend it to customers!
I really love the message of this book! Sometimes life is "different than what we imagined for ourselves, but [still] fulfilling and lovely”.
I couldn't relate much to the characters, personally. I've never been in a situation like this, not even through a close friend, so it was difficult for me to fully connect with their emotions and understand exactly what they were thinking. They don't talk much about their feelings... Which is also good in a way, because I like how practical they are. If they have a problem, two pages later they're already discussing a solution, and after two more pages they're already executing the plan. There's no time for drama in this book. I'm glad this story is about people who actually go after what they want, instead of just whining about how unfair life is. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the political side of it was a little boring for me. But anyway, I enjoyed it a lot.
The fact that the author has experienced infertility makes it even more special. It may be fictional, but she knew what she was writing about. Tegan Wren, congratulations on everything. I'm sure you'll inspire lots of people around the world. :)

Inconceivable is a touching story that was both realistic and romantic that would ultimately leave you wanting for more.
What immediately attracted me the most was the beautiful cover and the synopsis. I'm a sucker for these types of books that I just couldn't wait to read the book. From the start we get to meet Hatty, she is a reporter who has absolutely no filter when it comes to the things she believes in. She is at a karaoke bar when she stumbles upon a mysterious stranger who ends up been Prince John. His fun personality is magnetic and they both flirt with each other, until is time for them to go their separate ways. When she is assigned to cover the royals, Hatty doesn't know what to do, especially since the royals don't always react well with the press. But it is after they spend time together, that the two start to realize that they are meant to be with each other. Soon their relationship blossoms as the two start dating, but the pressure and rumors that they start to get thrown into starts to shake their relationship. Now Hatty is forced to make a choice of whether to keep pursuing her career or marry the man she loves and leave everything behind. The real thing that starts to make things worse is after they get married, and that is her inability to produce an heir.
There were a lot of things that I liked about the story, it's one of the books that has a very realistic feel to it that makes it that much more intriguing to read. The characters have a lot to overcome and their struggles as individuals and partners is what keeps them stronger. John is your typical charismatic character that is full of live when he first meets Hatty. On the other hand, she is confident and has no filter saying what she thinks. Overall their personalities brings them closer, but it is when they start dating that everything changes. The pace of the story becomes rushed and the characters change very quickly. We get playful at the beginning and serious later on that for me changed the mood of the book. Having to read the struggles that Hatty went through were touching and sad. The theme of infertility was well written in the story that I applaud the author for bringing a sensitive subject to the book. Though I wished some things that happened in the book were better answered at the end, I still liked how the author ended the book. It's not what I expected and that made it even better. I would highly recommend the book to those that are looking for something different in your typical romance books. It's worth picking up. : )

To start I have to gush about that beautiful cover. Doesn’t it just lure you in? Add to this the fact that the start of each chapter contains that very silhouette and you’re in heaven (Just as I’d reach the first page of each chapter, I’d smile, thinking of that beautiful picture. I know, I know!)
From the start of this book I was very much taken. Meeting Hatty X, a journalism intern, I warmed to her immediately, her strength, her intelligence, her sense of fun. She was loud and bright and yet not irritating and I warmed to her, enjoyed her fun parts, and felt for her when the chips were down. I loved how she and Prince John Meinrad, Toulene’s most popular royal, were put together, and the chaos that followed. By the way I suppose I should throw in here that the banter between the two was lovely, and the chemistry great. I wasn’t always sure about John, but given his status that just made him all the more three dimensional to me. The detail into the royal family’s customs, traditions and nuances were captivating, especially when taken with the descriptions of relevant royal locations and tales of various family members.
If you look at the blurb and recommendations above, the hype is nearly fully devoted to the fertility issues that Hatty and John have, understandable, of course, given the title of the book, however I feel this is selling the rest of the book short. All of this happens later on, and the prequel to this, the story of John and Hatty, of a prince dating a journalist who wants to be recognised for the mark she wants to make on the world as opposed to who she’s with, the Royal family’s reaction to her; THESE are what makes the book for me. I know the fertility issue is so important, but I just don’t think that that needs to be the hook for ‘Inconceivable,’ which I found to be an intelligent, giggle out loud, satisfying read with good characters, lovely romance and some great sticky situations. Very enjoyable.
Rating4.5/5
Inconceivable fits in with my guilty pleasure reads, modern day royal romances. It is the story of Hatty and Prince John who is third in line for the throne after his grandmother and father, Prince Leopold. They meet at a Karaoke bar and though they expect to not see each other again Hatty is assigned to write a story about the royal family and they fall for each other all over again. As they grow closer together Hatty's professional life becomes a point of contention, especially a story she is covering on the smelting plant that the royal family owns. Things really heat up and they marry. Hatty becomes a target for every news agency and tabloid in the world that wants to sling mud and innuendo. She gives up everything to be with John, her job, finishing her degree and her home in the Ozarks.
Prince John and Hatty's marriage does work well and they grow closer and begin to have hopes of having a child which as a royal prince in line for the thrown is expected of John. Months go on and Hatty does not get pregnant and she begins to worry. She starts researching what could be happening and starts trying different tips she finds on the Internet. As more time goes and comments from Prince Leopold cause her worry to increase about her continuing not to get pregnant and the repurcussions it could have on her marriage. Hatty is alone in a foreign country and close to only her husband. The longer Hatty does not get pregnant the worse the situation and ridicule appears to get and someone is telling the tabloids their secrets. Hatty is being pushed by her own desire to be a mother, the comments from strangers and the comments from her husband's family. I have to admit this did not end the way I expected it to end, dare I say the way I hoped it end. But, I can say the resolution is still gratifying.
