This is a very helpful and important book about understanding your child and how they experience love. What is love to them? And how should you react and discipline appropriately to make sure that you are not doing more harm than good. I asked my daughter today and I think she is a mix of three depending on who she is referring to which is confusing but i understand. I recommend the book.

This may sound a bit cheesy but this book is really life changing. I love my children, all four of them, but I am well aware that each of my children are different and unique. So it makes sense that each one of them may feel love differently. By reading both of these books (my kids range from 7 to 17) I was able to identify how to best communicate my love to them. I have a couple who most identify quality time as the way they feel love, I have a words of encouragement, as well as a gifts.

Granted it is important to express your love in all the love languages however when you can identify the dominate one it really helps a parent make sure you are filling all your childs needs. This book is very informative but also eye opening on how we are able to make sure that we are actually demonstrating what we think we are. This is a must read for all parents.

It´s a very interesting book. Most children know they´re loved by their parents, but not all of them feel that love. This book will teach you how to discover your child´s primary love language (there are 5) and enable you to fill his “emotional tank” in a way he will genuinely feel loved

The 5 Love Languages of Children By Gary Chapman and Ross Campbell.

Gary Chapman first wrote the book "Five Love Languages". Since then the books have been customised for different markets including Men, Children, Teenagers, Singles and Military.

This version follows a similar format that outlines the five Love Languages: Physical Touch, Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Gifts, and Acts of Service. This is followed by chapters on how to discover your child's primary love language, and how the Love languages affect Discipline, and Learning.

There is a section of Speaking your child's love language and applying them in a single parent family.

The book is an excellent practical resource for parents to understand their child, how they feel, and how to express love to a child in a way that has meaning to them. This unconditional love boosts a child's emotional needs and therefore their self-esteem.

There are lots of practical suggestions and ideas for each of the love languages.

A book that should be read regularly by every parent.

This book is full of useful information on how to best connect with your child in a way that they can appreciate and respond to you. The purpose of the book is to help you determine the primary languages in which your child hears your love. This is crucial to enable your child to grow and function properly. If your children are like mine, they exhibit qualities from more than one love language. Each chapter ends with practical ideas and tips for helping you speak that love language to your child. The important thing to remember is that once you figure out the love language your child understands you need to express your love in that language unconditionally. I would recommend this book to all parents, especially if you are having difficulty in connecting with your children. I wish I would've read this book six or seven years ago to better prepare me to love my daughters in the way that is best for them. I received this as a free ARC from Moody Publishers on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

As a children's therapist, I am always looking for books that give clear, concise guidance to parents looking to strengthen the relationship with their children. Chapman and Campbell hit the ball out of the park with this book! I have used the concepts presented in the original 5 Love Languages book with my clients for many years. However, it can be a bit of a challenge for clients to translate the concepts presented in that book to interactions with their children. This book provides a great solution. I appreciate the many creative examples the authors offer to parents seeking to express each of the love languages. I also appreciate the distinction the authors' draw between discipline and punishment. This should be a must-read for new (and old) parents! Highly recommended.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing a complementary eARC of this book for review purposes.

As a child I know I didn't always feel loved but I also didn't know how to express that to the adults around me so my self-esteem and self-image were affected. I want all the children in my life to never doubt they are loved and I really believe that this book has given me the tools to ensure that happens.
I have been a lover of the 5 love languages since I first stumbled upon it and I love that this helps in opening the door when dealing with children. Each child is different so I love the practical and useful ideas not just in loving them and making sure they know that they are loved but for discipline and everyday interactions.

What Gary Chapman has done for the marriage relationship, he and Ross Campbell have done for the precious relationship that we have with children. I wish every parent, grandparent and educator had The 5 Love Languages of Children (The Secret to Loving Children Effectively) to read. The information is astute and discerning, reminding us that every child is different. I believe one of the reasons this book is so insightful is that the emphasis is on the child and his/her needs. The tips are especially helpful to change the adult’s actions so that the child will feel loved even when disciplined. That is the goal we should all have. It is not about us but about the child.

Thank you Gary Chapman and Ross Campbell for this layman’s book. It is easy to read and immediately put into action.
