Have you ever come across one of those books that as soon as you get it you have to drop all others and read it? Suddenly Spellbound was one of those books for me, I absolutely loved the first book in The Ivie McKie Chronicles, Suddenly Sorceress. Ivie and her friends on their adventure was just so hilarious that I was still thinking about it and getting a bit of a laugh days, if not weeks later. Definitely one of my favorites last year so needless to say I was excited to get a copy of the second book to review.

I don’t want to say too much about the plot since this is the second book in the series but in Suddenly Spellbound we pick up with Ivie and her friends again shortly after their adventure in the first book. Ivie’s father is back in her life and has a scheme of his own pulling Ivie back into the world of magic much to Jack’s dismay.

Really, all I want to say here is run out and read this series!! Erica Lucke Dean has done it again with another fun adventure in magic but this time we go a little deeper and even have a few touching emotional moments mixed with the laughter. The book still kept the overall light hearted feel to the story though even with the direction the story line takes in the book keeping the reader still laughing all throughout.

Anything Ivie seems to do with magic still turns into one big outrageously comical adventure and I absolutely love spending time with all of the characters in this series so far and joining them on one mishap after another. My only complaint came at the end of the book when it ended on a cliffhanger, but then I ended up excited that it means I should get to enjoy another book in this series someday.

Overall, highly enjoy this series, definitely recommend to any fan of chick lit and/or paranormal.

I loved this book! It's fun and quirky with characters that you can't help but love. Ivie is a new witch that is now engaged to Jack, the veterinarian she fell in love with in the first book. Unfortunately, while Ivie has gotten better with her magic, she still isn't very good at it. Unfortunately for Ivie, her formerly long lost father has taken an active role in her life (and magic). Add in a very old promise and you have all the ingredients for a wonderful novel.

I love the author's storytelling style and this book is witty and fun, while still telling a great tale. Fans of the genre will love it.

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: Women’s Fiction, Romance

This is a perfect example of not giving up on an author just because one book hasn’t worked for you. I’d read Craving Caine and I didn’t like it – just a two star, but this is a different genre and sounded such fun. It was, and I really wish I’d asked for book one when it was on for review – I read the sample just to get a flavour of the background, and now having enjoyed this so much I’m going to buy that when there’s a gap in the TBR list.

So, having learned she’s a sorceress, turned her ex into a skunk – the wild furry type - and back, brought back her dad from his animal spell, when everyone thought he’d been dead for many years Ivie is finally looking happy. Has a job she loves, great friends and is about to marry the wonderful Jack and live happily ever after...except this is Ivie, and trouble sticks to her like s hit to a blanket ( one of my nan’s favourite sayings when I was a kid!) Ivie’s dad is being very strange, but she feels she owes him, he’s her dad and she’s not seen him for so long. When he asks her to help him and his new apprentice Liam with a tiny, simple spell she feels she has to. She’d promised Jack not to do magic as it brought her into such trouble each time but surely he’ll understand, its only something simple and its her dad, she can’t say no. Of course nothing is simple or easy when it comes to her dad and Ivie ends up caught in another disaster.

The book goes like this all the way through, with poor Ivie getting into more and more trouble, and having to try to find a way out of the mire her dad has landed her in. Its hard to say too much without giving important elements away but Ivie has to make some really hard choices towards the end and I feel for her.
When I started reading I thought this would be a light, simplistic read but its got surprising depth among the humour, and the balance is just perfect. Its an easy read, the writing flows well, the plots build on each other and there are some wonderful characters and I really really enjoyed this read.
The end though – gah! I hate cliff-hangers, even though this one is tinged with humour. I’ve no doubt Ivie will work her way through it but hope its not too long before book three comes out :-)

Stars: Five, a fun easy read with some unexpected depth to it.

This book was very fun to read! It was lighthearted without being too simple, a good plot without being too overwhelming in details, and well-written. I had figured out right away what was going on, and was a little annoyed the main character didn’t figure it out, but I figured maybe since I hadn’t read the first book, I was missing a little bit of the dynamic between the characters. I can’t say too much about this because I don’t like posting even the littlest thing that might be a spoiler! I sometimes found the main character a little too naïve about lots of things besides not seeing what was going on, but she was totally likable. I did really enjoy this book; in fact, I enjoyed it so much I’m going back to read the first one. I look forward to more in this series.

This was my first time reading a book by Ms. Dean and it won't be the last!! This book was full of laughs, hot guys and spells gone wrong. My only disappointment was it ended on a cliffhanger!! It left me wanting to read more to find out how it turned out. I will definitely be looking for more of Ms. Dean's books to read.

I really loved the writing style and the humor. There were multiple times when I was literally laughing out loud while I was reading this book. However, the plot dragged and the ending felt really rushed, which is why I didn't feel right giving it more than 3 stars. There were also a few plot holes that weren't explained or cleared up by the end. Overall, it was an enjoyable read for a good laugh.

This is the second book in the Ivie McKie Chronicles. I would suggest you read Suddenly Sorceress first to get a better understanding of what is going on. This book is more serious than the first book but has some of the same crazy situations & the book takes an interesting turn. If you are looking for a fun read that also has a great depth of characters check out Ivie & her crazy gang of friends & family. This book ends in a cliffhanger so I hope the next book in the series is published soon.

Thank you to Red Adept and Netgalley for the ARC.
This is the second book in the Ivie McKie series and you have to read the first one to really enjoy this book.
Oh Ivie, nothing in your life seems to go according to plan!!! This book is really funny and a fast read as you can't put the book down for one second, it just asks for you to keep on reading until the end. Ivie is still new to the sorceress-game and a lot of funny things happen to her as well as getting arrested again. Love, love, loved the book and look forward the the 3rd book in this series. I hope Ivie's luck will turn quickly. I would recommend this book to all lovers of romance and fantasy.

Book two in a fun series. A little obsessive with skunks though, but for some men It fits. The book does end with a cliffhanger so hopefully the next one comes out soon. Love the action and touches of humor throughout. Wacky characters and fun story. Highly recommend this book and author. Suggest you read the first one first for more understanding of circumstances but you would still enjoy this one either way.

Ivie and Jack are back on track for their wedding when her Dad, now a man not a cat, introduces her to Liam. Now everything is going magically crazy as Liam's mother is our for revenge. This is a wonderful light magical romance with enough twist to keep it hopping. Everyone wishes for the hope of magic and love with a few barnyard animals thrown in. Can't wait for book 3 to continue this fantasy tale.

Ivie is kindergarten teacher and sorcerer. She lives her dream engaged soon to be married to handsome ex-magician Jack. She brings back from dead her father mighty wizard. When she thinks that everything is happy ever after suddenly something happened and all secrets from the past hunting her, but she is not aware of it.

I don’t read the first book of this series and I only can imagine how wonderful it’s when Ivie finds out that she is a sorcerer. I totally enjoy this book couldn’t put it down until the end. The end is unexpected, and I can hardly wait to read the third book and see how Ivie will manage the situation and finally finds her happy ever after.

The plot is captivating and entertaining with a twist and turns in the easy and funny way. I must admit that this is the first book from this author that I read and is a real revelation for me. I usually don’t read paranormal books, but this is one of those books that I enjoy. The characters are so genuine and exciting it easy to imagine them and feel nothing but empathy reading about them. Ivie’s paranormal ability doesn’t bother me at all, but it was interesting for a change to read about them. The entire book is from the Ivie’s point of view.

Ivie is very smart, so sweet and thoughtful that makes me think that she is a little bit naïve. I enjoy when she uses magic and gets a red hair. Her relationship with Jack is fantastic; there was part of the book that I was little suspicious about him, but I right away change my mind.

Jack is a thoughtful, kind, decent man and handsome. The author doesn’t describe his appearance (I suppose she did in the first book) but from Ivie’s remarks for him, everything is evident that he is adorable.

I recommend this book to everyone who enjoy in good and easy reads.

Ivie is a kindergarten teacher and suddenly also a sorceress, Ivie’s dad is back in her life and has schemes of his own. Pulling her back into the world of magic. Jack is Ivie’s fiance and the are planning their wedding , he is not happy with her dad appearing again. Ivie’s dad’s apprentice is Liam and her dad wants to break Ivie and Jack up so Ivie can marry Liam. Ivie’s dad is Augus and he wants to settle a debt so he casts a spell to get Liam and Ivie together. Ivie continues to make magical mistakes and brings chaos to her life. I didn’t read the first book but still enjoyed this story and will go back.Ivie is quiet the character and I really liked her. This was a light read and easy to follow. It was also well written. I laughed at different times while reading this story. Augus interfering in Ivie’s life didn’t make me very happy , he should just want her to happy. But I also understand his selfish reasoning. I loved the twists and turns of this story especially the ones including Ivie. I recommend.
