I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Demon Kissed by Karilyn Bentley is Book 2 of the Demon Huntress Series. This was my first time reading Ms. Bentley’s writing and I was impressed. Even though this book is part of a series, you can read it as a standalone and not have to worry about missing out on anything. The author did a fantab job of crafting her world and the characters within, and bringing them to life with her action-packed and intriguing storyline. Definitely found myself another go-to author for future reading. Thank you Ms. Bentley!
I like this book. It was an interesting version of demon hunting, with the help of a magical (sentient) bracelet that connects with the wearer. It helps Gin track and find minions as well as demons and the power to destroy their essence. When needed the bracelet becomes a sword to help in her fight. With the help of her mentor Aidan, Gin tracks down and destroys these beings.
In this book Gin is still trying to come to terms with her new position, the mark of Zagan on her neck, the recent death of Blake, and her attraction to Aidan. All this while still trying to keep her job as an ER nurse. Unfortunately, there are some strange occurrences happening that even Aidan has never experienced. Gin needs all the help she can get to put a stop to this new problem, preferably before Aidan kills himself because of his I-am-man-hear-me-roar mentality. The more she digs the more she learns about this case, and the mystery that is her bracelet and its unexplainable reaction to Zagan. One thing is getting painfully clear. Nothing is as it seems.
I had wanted to read the Demon Huntress series for a while and was excited when I saw it available on NetGalley, not realizing it was for the second book in the series. Not one to waste the opportunity given to me I went ahead and read it. It was fabulous! Did I miss anything by not reading the first? Yes, but I was able to quickly for the most part catch up. The book was well-written, the world building was excellent, and I really was engaged with the characters. One section in the front of the book really grabbed me and made sure I would go back and read the first one to find out what how everything went down. I really recommend this book and author as a great read. Give her a try, you won’t regret it!
Thanks to NetGalley and Backlit PR/Wild Rose Press for the free ebook in exchange for an honest review. This same review will be posted on Goodreads and Amazon.
