A nice book, and depending on the level you are a handy book to make quick and easy quilts. Would be a good book to use to teach a novice quilter or a young one. As a more experienced quilter I did not find as much appeal, but then I do not do a lot of pinwheel patterns either. I would recommend this book, but if you are looking for more complex or new patterns I would look elsewhere. If you want a nicely designed and detailed book on quick and easy patterns then pick this one up. Overall a nice book to have for the home library.

Lovely photos, good instructions, helpful hints

This is a good book for a beginning quilter. The information presented here is available in many other places. The descriptions, pictures, and instructions are clear and complete.

I thought the book was very well structured and adaptable. The layout was excellent I liked the way the projects came before the techniques and basics. This meant the book was usable by all levels from beginner to advanced. The instructions were easy to follow and well illustrated. The only thing I didn't fall in love with was the projects themselves. Maybe it was the materials and colours chosen, but they just didn't appeal to me. However, the brilliant thing was I could visualise some of them using colours and materials I would like, and the instructions were so good that I feel as though I could easily adapt them. Overall a very good book.

Quilters are always looking for fast and easy projects for gifting. We want patterns that are adaptable to different fabric choices, interesting yet simple, and with no-fail instructions.

In 24-Hour Quilting Projects Rita Weiss offers twenty quilts of all sizes that can be constructed in a day--or less! Most are pieced patterns based on traditional blocks including the Log Cabin, star variations, nine-patch, and pinwheels. She includes several quilts that combine appliqué and piecing. Each pattern tweaks the traditional block for an interesting twist.

Each pattern has a full page color photograph of the completed quilt, materials and yardage lists, step-by-step instructions for making blocks, borders, and completing the quilt, and a useful color picture layout of the competed quilt.

I especially was impressed with her general quilt making instructions with great information for beginning quilters. Her rotary cutting guild is detailed with lots of photographs and includes instructions for right and left handed persons, She also has guide for 'stitch and flip' methods, chain piecing, binding, fussy cutting, and appliqué.

Originally published in 2005 24-Hour Quilting Projects is now republished by Dover Publications. The fabric choices and colors in Weiss' projects reflect her preference for bright colors and the prints of 2005. For instance, her Angel Fantasy includes a print of angels which is no longer available, but today's quilter can choose one of the wonderful new prints available as a feature fabric.

Originally published in 2005, all of the quilts are beautifully illustrated, easily constructed and would make a wonderful gift. Weiss includes the estimated time to complete the quilt and her instructions are easy to follow. A great addition for a beginner or a more experienced quilter.

This book certainly has some simple and easy quilts to make. I do not like the fact that a time has been added to each pattern - I don't think making quilts works like that. The certainly are easy quilts to make that do not require much knowledge - if you can use a machine - you can make these. Some of the finishing may need a little more time and experience, but all in all they would make lovely and quick projects.

Loved this book and the projects in this book

The projects in this book look relatively easy. Instructions are clear and colorful

The pattern instructions look easy-to-follow and the photos give good detail. I believe the title is misleading for a variety of reasons, though: these patterns may take more or less than 24 hours, some of the quilts are smaller than others, the techniques used by the author and her associates to make these quilts seem to be what makes them so quick.

For those with too little time, this is a great resource for quilting projects that could be done in 24 hours. At first I was skeptical that anyone could make a quilt in that amount of time, but I think the intent is to make the quilt top in that time, not the backing/binding/quilting that comes after. At least, I don't think I could do it all in 24 hours.
I'd recommend this not for the novice quilter, but for someone who's done a few quilts before. Each pattern is well illustrated both with photos and diagrams, and provides the basic information for putting together the quilt top. Instructions are clear and concise. Though it's not a "how to quilt" book, there is a nice section at the back that summarizes the basics of quilting. You'll want just a little experience before tackling any of the quilts in this book. That said, the designs are simple and beautiful. I can't wait to try some of them!

This book contains fun patterns that are beautiful when put altogether. It gives time saving techniques and advice on quilting that a beginner or an experienced quilt maker can benefit from! Can't wait to give them a try!

I received a free copy of this book for an honest review from NetGalley.

This book is a reprint of the same book from 2005. Because of this, it will be highly improbably for you to find the same exact fabrics as shown in the book. I've found that quilt fabrics go out of production fairly rapidly, so I am always happy to just use the fabric in photographs as a general guide rather than a specific one.

I have quilted on and off for more than 30 years. I have made quilts by hand and by machine. I have pieced quilts and appliqued them as well. I have used scissors, rotary cutters and even both manual and electric fabric cutting devices (such as GO) to cut pieces of fabric. I've quilted by hand, by machine and with free-embroidery stitching by machine. Even so, I don't consider myself more than an advanced beginner to intermediate in quilting. I enjoy the process but have never spent months developing a project.

Because of this, I was happy to see a 24 hour quilt project book. It's interesting that the author has given times next to each project but, for me at least, it takes a lot longer to finish than she estimates.

The projects are fun and give you a taste of various ways to make a quilt. The descriptions are good as are the visual instructions. I think it is a great book for beginners to use. The only issue I have is that there have been a lot of new products made available in the last decade and those are not discussed in the book. I would consider it a good add-on to a new quilters library but not a definitive book for their use.

I was provided a temporary digital advance reader copy of this book by the publisher, Dover Publications, via Netgalley.

For me this book was great - its very informative and full of ideas and inspiration that can be used for the beginner and expert sewist alike - the idea is that they are 24 hour quilting projects but for me they will take a bit longer being very much a novice on the machine. There are straight forward and easy to follow instructions with clear diagrams. Highly recommend

Straightforward, easy to follow directions. Some stunning quilts. The 24 hours does not include quilting or binding. This is not a new book, it's a reissue of one published in 2005, but it's still a great book, but I wish they'd made the font size bigger.
