24-Hour Crochet Projects is a great addition for anyone who crochets. It is filled with great pictures of each project and easy to follow patterns. I like that each pattern includes an estimation of how long the project will take. If you are a little rusty on crochet terms and stitches, there is a "Refresher Course" toward the end of the book. It describes how to create the different stitches required for the projects and has helpful illustrations to show the reader how to do it. Hats and scarves are great for first projects for beginners, or try your hand at purses, afghans, doilies, and much more!
Thank you to NetGalley and Dover Publications for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The instructions look easy-to-follow and the photos give a good representation of both stitch patterns and how they should look when completed. A few complaints, though: the style of the photos seem a bit outdated and the contrast level is not complementary to most of the models; Color combinations within outfits are sometimes unflattering (ex. Keyhole scarf); the available sizes for clothing items are very limited compared to many pattern books available now.
This is a great addition to any crochet's library. The photographs are stunning and show each project in colorful detail. The patterns are varied from baby layettes and blankets to hats and clothing for adults. A nice chapter at the end review all the stitches used in the book with good diagrams. All projects give a time frame and skill level as well as recommended yarns and hooks.
24-Hour Crochet Projects offers a wide variety of crochet projects ranging from hats to handbags plus household items too. Each project an estimated time to complete the craft. The author, Rita Weiss, says the time estimate is an estimate as crocheting is time well spent.
The author has also included a crochet refresher course which goes through the basics. In this chapter you will see illustrations demonstrating crochet stitches and how to weave in yarn ends.
Some of the projects you'll find in this book include:
Huggable Afghan Red Hot Purse Think Mink (a faux fur head band)
Must Have Blouse Hipster Scarf

This book is a nice collection of relatively simple and stylish crochet patterns that a typical crocheter can make in 24 hours. I crochet a little, so I was pleased to see several purse and hat patterns (something small and simple for a quasi beginner) in the book. There is also a crochet refresher course included in the book for people such as myself.
A nice crochet book with clear instructions and excellent illustrations. This is a good book for a beginner who wants to do something more than potholders.
There are over 40 patterns to crochet. These include hats, shawls, blankets, women's tops, baby clothes, handbags and doilies. They are beginner to intermediate in difficulty. I really like couple of them to make very shortly. There are color pictures to show the patterns clearly. The instructions give the yarn that is used in the display model as well as the type of yarn. ie. worsted, sport etc. The instructions also give the number of hours it would take to make the item.
Great pattern book for beginners and those who just want some cool patterns to try
This is a book of crochet patterns which is re-printed as-is from the original publication of the book in 2005. While a very few of the designs are a tad dated, the majority are great as quick to crochet projects for anyone from a beginner crocheter to one who is more advanced.
I have been crocheting for many years and I still am able to find patterns that I would be happy to both make and wear. The instructions are well-written and the projects have great photos of the finished items.
At the back of the book, there are visual illustrations of stitches, a glossary of terms, explanations of various other items, including thread crochet, and for the international crocheter, there is a key that helps translate US crochet terminology to the international crochet terms.
The only issue I have with this book and is the reason why I give it a four star rating is that most of the yarns listed in the book are no longer in production. Thankfully, the author included the size and style of the yarn as well so you can translate it into yarns that you can purchase today.
I was provided a temporary digital advance reader copy of this book by the publisher, Dover Publications, via Netgalley.
This had some great projects with easy to understand patterns. The photos were helpful and I feel like they were good at showing what the finished project would look like. The fact that each pattern had an estimate of how long it would take to finish was a nice touch as it's something I've looked for often, especially when in a time crunch. I consider myself to be an experienced crocheter, but think that this book would be great for anyone from beginner to master. There is a refresher section with a variety of stitches that would be helpful for anyone in need.
This book was fabulous. There are so many great ideas & wonderful pictures.
I enjoyed looking through this book. There were many ideas I would love to be able to try.

I am a beginner at crochet and have attempted simple projects. So far, I have made wrist warmers, a scarf, blocks for an afghan and a dozen Granny squares that are anything but square. I was excited to read this book for inspiration and quick projects. I still have the Granny square afghan my grandmother gave me a when I was a teenager. My goal is to make something for each of my grandchildren.
This book has 23 different projects. They range from headbands and hats to sweaters, purses and blankets. There is even a pattern for beautiful lace doilies. I love the Heads Up hat and it only takes two hours to make. The Baby Dreams blanket looks amazing and takes 14 hours to complete. I am going to attempt to make the Child’s Helmet Hat for one of my granddaughters who loves that style. I just purchased yarn to make the Huggable Afghan for another granddaughter. Now I just need to plan on the ten hours it will take to make it.
At the end of the book is refresher course in crochet, which includes common stitches, abbreviations, and gauge. The only thing that this book is missing is an experience rating for each project. This is a great book for anyone that wants to complete a project in a short period.
