Description

"A fresh and original new series!" --Krista Davis, New York Times bestselling author

When a treasure hunt leads to deadly plunder, it's up to glass shop owner Savannah Webb and her trusty investigative posse to map out the true motives of a killer . . .

It's the dog days of summer in St. Petersburg, Florida, and Webb's Glass Shop proprietor Savannah Webb has an eco-friendly plan to help locals escape the heat--a recyclable bottle-crafting workshop taught by reticent store manager Amanda Blake. Turns out, the class is a bigger smash than expected, thanks in part to a pair of staggeringly old bottles brought in by snorkeler Martin Lane . . .

Linked to a storied pirate shipwreck, the relics definitely pique Savannah's interest. But intrigue turns to shock when Martin's lifeless body washes ashore the next morning, another glass artifact tucked in his dive bag. With cell phone records connecting Amanda to the drowning, Savannah must voyage through unchartered territory to exonerate her colleague and capture the twisted criminal behind Martin's death . . .

This is an entertaining and fun cozy mystery. I love the location in St. Petersburg (one of my favorite parts of Florida), Savannah and her cast of characters, and especially like learning more about the many ways of working with glass. I enjoy learning new things from the books I read and this book both entertains and educates.

Webb’s Glass Shop in St. Petersburg, Florida is always a hive of activity, but owner Savannah Webb ramps things up by inviting craft blogger Amanda Black to show customers how to recycle old bottles into decorative accent pieces. It gets really exciting when a local scuba diver shows up with some seriously old bottles and folks start wondering if the bottles are from an old pirate shipwreck. The next day, however, the diver is found dead on the shore, another old bottle in his dive bag. Police suspect Amanda because of the calls and texts linking her to the victim. It’s up to Savannah and her crafters to uncover the truth and save Amanda. Fans of Laura Childs Tea shop and Scrapbooking mysteries will love this delightful southern series

Despite the murder, this is a quick pleasant read. Savannah is an interesting character and I liked learning a little bit about glass. Holton has an easy writing style and you will find yourself flipping pages through - it's perfect for a sunny afternoon in the back yard. Thanks to Netgalley for the ArC.

Good to be back with theses characters again to see what they get up to this time.

Good mystery, lots of real ale and good interactions with the characters. Am looking forward to the next instalment of this series.

I really enjoyed this book. This is the first book of this series that I have read. Now, I will go back and read the others. The author gives enough insight so that you could jump in on the series with any of the books. I liked the upcycling and the pirate lore in the story line. The characters are very likeable. Savannah and her friends come together to find the killer to save their friend Amanda. The story line is complex and kept me guessing until the end about who the bad guy was. I would recommend this series to anyone who likes cozies.

I think I would have enjoyed this book better if I'd read the first two in the series, but it was still very good. I liked the character of Jacob, having a son with special needs myself, and really enjoyed learning the pirate history of this section of Florida. Overall, a good cozy mystery!

Savannah Webb is drawn into the murder of a student at Webb's Glass Shop through her employee Amanda. Amanda's secret relationship with the victim, Martin, looks very suspicious to the police, and there are people who are more than happy to point the finger at her.
Together Savannah, her boyfriend Edward, Jacob, and the twins Faith and Rachel, all work together to find out why and who was responsible for Martin's murder. Their sleuthing takes us through a few twists and turns before we find it all out. I received an advanced copy free for my honest opinion, but truth be told I love this series and was excited for the chance for an early peek. Great cozy with a bit of romance.

“Cracked to Death” is the third book in Cheryl Hollon’s series about Savannah Webb, who runs a glass shop in St. Petersburg, Florida. I reviewed the first book last year and was very pleased to have the opportunity to review another one.

Savannah is branching out – she’s acquired a new building that she is using as rental studio space and is offering a number of new workshops, including one on glass upcycling that is being taught by Amanda, her office manager. However, when of the students is found dead the day after bringing some old and unusual bottles to class, and Amanda is top of the suspect list, Savannah and her friends have to get to work to clear Amanda’s name and find the real killer.

This was a great addition to the series (I’m definitely going to have to pick up the second book which I’ve somehow missed). The whole cast of characters are here, although I personally would have liked to see more of Jacob and his service dog Suzy. The story flows smoothly and there are enough twists and turns to keep readers interested – it’s a cozy, yes, but there is a good solid challenging mystery at the heart of this novel. It’s a fun read and you’ll even learn a bit about glass crafts!

I received a free e-copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Cracked to Death by Cheryl Hollon is book three in the Webb's Glass Shop Mystery series. Having read the first book, I jumped at the chance to read another in the series. I was not disappointed. The latest book finds Savannah helping her friend Amanda not only to teach her first workshop but also to beat a murder charge. Add in a mysterious treasure and the same cast of characters from the previous books and Ms. Hollon has another winner!
