We have Vivian, a smart girl with smarts and a great personality. There is just one problem, after finally landing herself a kiss with her crush, she learns his true intentions on the first day back at school, and realizes she needs to counter-act her hormones and focus on some other potential crushes. One of Vivian's best friends actually tries to slip her other best friend, who is more like a brother to her.

Can we take a moment to acknowledge the fact that this book dedicates to book bloggers? This is a book blogger's dreams brought to life! More or less.

Dallas, oh Dallas. What can the boy not do? Coding genius, "nerd-hot" and a friggn' epic cello player. Got me hooked on that Croatian cello duo, 2Cellos, all over again. Dead serious; I have not listened to them in a long time. Dallas is new in town, but Viv does not want to put him on her RC (Replacement Crush) list, because . . . let's face it. He's hot and she is not sure he would actually like her that way. The point of her RC list is to distract her from the fact that her original crush was an . . . A-hole. Dallas has a way of catching himself about to curse whenever he is around Viv. I think every young man should make that a habit. *Whispers* It's a sexy quality.

I'm not normally a fan of high school romance as I can't really connect and it's not my normal genre, but I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it. While at times I wanted to hit Viv for some of the decisions she made and I didn't fully understand her reasoning, I liked that she finally got her senses together towards the end. Dallas was just amazing. I could feel the chemistry and the times he was basically telling Viv he was interested were the times I wanted to smack her for being so oblivious and stupid.. Overall, i truly truly enjoyed the book. While it's not the normal genre I go for, I'm glad I took the chance to read the book.

I just may need to finally watch Star Trek: Next Generation, after reading this. :)

There was a really fun vibe throughout this entire story that I just adored. We have Vivian, bookworm, blogger, romance lover... And used and tossed by a jerk at school, making her question her decisions and wanting a less-complicated and less-heartbreaking crush. And we have Dallas, the hot nerd who keeps showing up when Vivian least expects (or desires) him to.

The chemistry between Vivian and Dallas was great and this really felt age appropriate. I could obviously relate to Romance loving blogger Viv, and really enjoyed the book club discussions. There was a lot to enjoy with this book and I very thoroughly did!

The playfulness was a lot of fun and the little mysteries were as well.

The nerd references were just awesome. I am not a Trekkie (Yet?), but really dug the references and the way it was blended into the story. I think even non nerds will smile at it all.

Can we also talk about that kiss? Yeah, it "burned my kindle", it was so hot! ;)

I really loved this book! I wish there were more books like this. You know the ones where the main character is a book blogger. Or the main character’s parent is an author. Or a book that its setting takes place mostly in a bookstore called Murder By The Sea. Or a romance with a really hot McNerd. Oh my damn, hot nerds. Yes, please!

I felt really connected with Vivian. Maybe it was the fact that she was a book blogger. Or maybe it was the fact that she’s just super relatable. But while reading her character, I felt like I wanted to be more like her. I want to work in a bookstore. I want to hold a physical book club (other than just online). But then I also wanted to be her mom. And I loved how present her mom was throughout the novel! It was so refreshing to read a book where the mom actually plays a pretty significant role!

Then there is Dallas a.k.a Hot McNerd and oh boy we need more of his like in novels! He is dreamy and steamy and oh, where can I get one please? Seriously Dallas is at the top of my fictional boyfriend list! It was like there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. He was smart, great with computers/technology, nerdy, strong, hot, and can totally kick some major ass! Mm Mmmm Mmmmm!

The only thing that I wish there was more of was if it was written more epistolaric. We got to see some of Viv’s blog posts, but I feel like there should have been MORE blog posts from her. I mean she is a book blogger, so I feel like we didn’t really see a whole lot of that side of her.

And there is one potential scene that could deter some readers, but I think it is handled and written very well. View Spoiler »

If you’re in the mood for some nerdy, bookish, romance…look no further because this book is definitely worth the read! I can’t wait to see more from this Lisa Brown Roberts!

Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the arc of The Replacement Crush by Lisa Brown Roberts! Viv is beginning her junior year of high school with her best friend Jaz. She lives with her single mom who owns a bookstore and writes mystery novels under an unknown pseudonym. Viv likes Jake and then she discovers that he is a hormonal jerk. This makes her decide to create a replacement crush list filled with guys that she has no romantic interest in. During her replacement crush quest, she meets Dallas, a senior from Wisconsin who just moved to town with his family. Dallas begins working at the bookstore with Viv and he has some secrets of his own. Torturous, emotional and romantic turmoil, cute nicknames, references to readers and bloggers everywhere and even some scary, suspenseful drama make me give The Replacement Crush 5 stars!
