Hiding in plain sight is harder than it looks…
Dahlia Greene—aka international pop superstar Cherry—is undercover as a normal high school student. She just wants to experience what real life is like, so when she overhears hottie Keegan Matthews nervously talking about liking a girl, she sees the perfect opportunity to live a real life and play a little matchmaker. What was not part of the plan was falling for a guy she can never tell the truth.
Keegan Matthews has been secretly crushing on Dahlia ever since she started at his school. Sure, Dahlia thinks he’s crushing on some other girl—not realizing his Dream Girl is actually her—but he figures, play along with her tips to woo someone else, let her get to know him, and then make his move. But with so many secrets in the mix, their romance is doomed from the start…

The moment I learned what the new book in the series would be about, I squealed in delight. I had been waiting for the announcement and when it came, I could not contain myself. This book mentions Tru and Sloane (where my love for the series began). The ending had my heart on the floor! Also, knowing there is to be another book to follow the characters in each of the books (meaning they start their own, separate series too!) gives all the more reason to want to read more! Keegan is so real to me. I just want to crawl into the book and switch places with Dahlia/Cherry. I want it to be me!
The Secret Life of a Dream Girl is the fourth book in the Creative HeArts series. This book was one that I could not put down to the point that I was looking forward to my breaks at work so that I could continue reading it.
The Secret Life of a Dream Girl follows Dahlia who had previously appeared in Crazy, Stupid, Fauxmance as the girl who suggested to Mariely that the best way to get over a breakup is to get "under" someone new. In The Secret Life of a Dream Girl, we find out that Dahlia is actually a well-known pop star named Cherry who is attending NextGen Academy as part of her emancipation agreement from her father. In an attempt to "fit in" more, Dahlia offers to help student president, Keegan win over the girl of his dreams unbeknownst to her that the girl he likes is actually her. I love the hilarious misunderstandings that result and the dynamics that forms between Dahlia and Keegan. And it even better because you get to see both Dahlia and Keegan's perspectives.
Another thing I loved about this book is that once again, Finn appears in this book. And even though Dahlia thinks of him as Cherry's friend, the two had a nice platonic dynamic going on. After all Finn is the only one who knows that Dahlia is Cherry which means she is free to be more of herself and relax around him unlike how she has to be with the rest of her classmates.
The Secret Life of a Dream Girl is another hit for the Creative HeArts series! I truly enjoyed the pairing of Dahlia and Keegan and I am eagerly anticipating the next book in their trilogy.
This book was sooo cute! And it definitely delivered the promise made in the disclaimer! I’m totally loving this series so much and this book was a great addition to the series. Another thing that I love about this series is that the whole series is taking place at one high school, so we frequently get a glimpse of the other characters in this series as well which is quite awesome!
Dahlia is actually an international pop star, she goes by the name Cherry. After gaining legal emancipation, she has to fulfill one last thing, complete the last year of her high school in a normal school as ordered by the judge. She has always yearned for a normal life, that’s why she decides to take on a disguise so that nobody would recognise her. When she accidentally hears a bit of a conversation between Keegan and his friend about the girl he’s crushing on, she steps up and decides to help without knowing that his dream girl is actually her. Would anything between them be ever possible?
I loved the plot! And I loved how everything was executed! Dahlia just decides to help Keegan after overhearing a conversation at a school dance, she just basically starts project Dream Girl without even asking if he’s on board or not! But it turned out to be quite hysterical than awkward as Keegan could not understand whatever the hell was going on. And later when she told him the plan, he decides to be on board but he uses her own advice to woo her which was quite adorable! I loved them together from the start, they were just so cute!
Dahlia… first of all I love that name! She kept her identity a secret from everybody, even from Keegan because she could see how everyone waited for an opportunity to jump on Finn (from How Willa Got Her Groove Back) and she wanted a normal life, just for once. I totally understood her situation, especially after how her dad and manager treated her. Keegan was a total sweetheart. He was so sweet and caring and I actually enjoyed to see how he was nervous in telling Dahlia that he actually liked her! But their chemistry was totally adorable and that kiss! Oh my God! It was basically perfection!
Overall, The Secret Life of a Dream Girl was a totally awesome read! The plot kept me interested from the beginning and I loved the characters. The romance was sooo sweet, I loved Keegan and Dahlia together! The writing was smooth and easy to read and the pace was even throughout the book! Though this book somewhat ended on a happy note (well… not entirely because of what Keegan was going through due t his father’s condition), I can’t wait to read the next book about them!

A little while back I read How Willa Got Her Groove Back, which is the second book in the Creative HeArts series, and then I read Crazy, Stupid, Fauxmance (the second one) and I loved both books so much. But I have to say that I think this one is my favorite!
Once again, the book is told between two POVs, where Dahlia’s POV is told in the first person, and Keegan’s POV is told in the third person. I do like this formula! The difference to the 2 previous books, is that we get A LOT more of Keegan’s POV, which was fabulous in my opinion. The writing was amazing. I thought it was a bit more complentative than the other books, but it was also funny and light at the same time, and it fitted both these characters so well, because they were both going through so much.
I absolutely loved Dahlia! It’s such a smart concept to use a pop star, ex-Disney sweetheart, going through those motions of hyper sexualization and managing to get a step away from it, and what it might mean for herself and her career. I really like how smart and strong she was, though I’m scared to where this will lead in the next couple of books.
Keegan was so amazing! Having a business guy in the middle of all those artists is brilliant, especially because it also makes you think how important what he does is to the whole artist vibe of his friends. Also, he’s Jacen’s BFF, and while Jacen is not my favorite guy, their friendship is pretty awesome. He also treats Dahlia like she’s precious. They both have so many layers! I love them both😀.
The plot was really simple and great. We get to see them becoming close, friends somehow, and then something a bit more, while they both struggle through a lot, and in the end I think they’re there for each other, and that’s really important. I do hope the next 2 books will be nice to them, because they don’t deserve to hurt, at all.
It was really great to see little glimpses of the characters of the other books, especially Finn, who keeps getting better and better throughout the books.
If you haven’t read this series yet, you definitly should!
