Description
Stumped? Look no further for the answers than this engaging and interactive book born from the research and imagination of cartoonist Brian McLachlan. What Noise Do I Make? introduces readers to an exotic range of animals and, with the turn of a page (and a heavy dose of humor), shows what noise the animal makes. For instance: did you know alligators go WOARRRRGH, walruses go HOARF, and zebras go: squirp squirp!
The simple concept is skillfully and hilariously executed with phonetic spelling, hand-lettered sound effects, expressive line work, and offbeat color choices. Subtle gags for the preschool set are woven throughout the pages: animals with mistaken voice identities, a silent giraffe, and a group of primates going wild. The last spread—a city scene—shows that humans make plenty of noises, too.
This book is guaranteed to provoke a giggle and encourage participation while supporting the early learning processes of inquiry, observation, interpretation, and play.

I am always looking for books that encourage verbal responses from younger kids during storytime, and I'm looking forward to showing off this one. Aside from animal noises, there is little-to-no words inside -- only drawings of familiar and not-so-familiar animals. This book also provides an opportunity to let the pre-reader child tell you the story instead.
What a fun book! It will lead to lots of laughter whether you are reading it to one child or a story time group.
This is a fun book to read with young ones. It is so true we all know and teach our kids what the common animals say; cows, dogs, sheep, cats etc. Remember "Old MacDonald" but there are so many other animals in the world. When my grandson and I looked at this book, we had you tube going so we could actually see the word and hear the sound. We laughed and tried to make the noises. Of course, my grandson can make the sound a "Wookie" makes so he had no trouble with some of the ones in the book. A fun way to learn about animals.
This is an incredibly wonderful children's book. The bright colors used to portray each animal captures the reader and the sounds for each animal make this a marvelous book to read aloud with children. Can't wait to get a copy for my library!
A simple, innocent and charming book, with colorful drawings friendly for the little ones of the home!
You can spend funny moments with your children roaring, croaking, buzzing, ruminating ... playing and creating all new kinds of sounds as far as the imagination reaches.
