Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of the next book that I’m going to add to my classroom library. Emily Lauren Dick’s I Love Me from A to Z is full of vibrant illustrations and a multitude of messages about self-love. My school has a strong focus on incorporating SEL (social emotional learning) lessons daily, and this will be an excellent addition to my morning SEL read aloud selection.
I really like board books due to their durability, but I don’t often see any with really “deep” messages. This book provides examples of how each person is special related to a factor starting with each letter of the alphabet. There is great diversity in this book- differing skin tones, cultures and physical abilities. I also loved the hidden letter on each page.
Okay I absolutely adore this!! Each letter is a beautiful message and the illustrations are so cute. I love the diverse representation too! Will definitely be reading this to my nephew when he’s older.
As a preschool teacher and mom, I love every part of this book. I love the inclusivity, the illustrations, and the vocabulary. Probably my favorite part is all of the inclusion of the alphabet and words associated with each letter. This is such a powerful tool for pre reading skills and is a great ‘i spy’ game while reading aloud. This looks like a book my daughter would love and cherish.
I loved this picture book! It is a great way to encourage children to love who they are. The illustrations are beautiful and are inclusive of many cultures, body types, and abilities. The text is simple and drives home the idea of self-love. I will definitely be recommending this book to parents of young children.
I received a digital ARC of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publisher.
I love the message of this picture book - love yourself no matter what! My toddler had me read it over and over to her, so it's a five star in our house.
Adorably illustrated text shares how a child can practice positivity and self-care. Differently abled children and the representation of many ethnicities make this an inclusive book!
Absolutely charming and a really great tool for parents/educators wanting to teach children about body positivity, autonomy, and consent. Each letter offers an affirmation that would be great for starting discussions with a child. Further, all the children in the book are diversely depicted, really showcasing what the world looks like but also helping children see themselves, their families and friends, amongst the pages.
I love me from, a to z by Emily Lauren Dick is a colorful, heartwarming children's picture book that everyone will take heart to add to the family library, I think this was a genius idea.
The illustrations are adorable. I absolutely love the diversity in the characters represented, but not only that, but the disability representation was on point. I love the way that the author encourages kids to speak out to injustice while also encouraging them to take care of themselves as well. Not only that, but it teaches body autonomy in such a simple way. That can be a very difficult subject to teach, but the author did it very well. Loved it!
I love everything about this book! It is so positive and uplifting. The illustrations are beautiful and perfectly complement the words. Recommend this book for libraries, classrooms, and home libraries. This is a good book to use as a springboard for activities, such as an activity about kindness on the K page. Recommended!
I Love Me from A to Z is such an amazing little book filled with a variety of positive affirmations.
It's for all ages, you can learn your alphabet, admire the beautiful drawings, practice or learn to read, and it brings a lot of important, essential subjects to you and your children.
And I can tell you it's also a good read for adults !! (I felt so much better when read it, true story)
The illustrations are really cute and so colorful. The backgrounds and characters are eye catching, there's a lot to explore.
It talks about consent, your skills, your worth, your qualities. Encourages the reader to love themselves, to be inspired, explore and question things when there's something wrong : you have a voice, you can listen to it and you can speak up, for yourself, for others.
The thing I would point is that, sometimes, some sentences were a bit repetitive when it could have used other affirmations.
I Love Me from A to Z is heartwarming and sweet. You feel really nice after reading it, would recommand.
Here is one of my favorites quotes from it : "V is for value. I am worthy of love and acceptance."

With a delightfully diverse cast of children this board book acknowledges the beauty in differences and empowers those who can see themselves in its pages. I loved the disability justice lens of the messaging and the easy to absorb affirmations that reflected self love inside and out.
