Nothing left to live for…that's how eighteen-year-old Daisy Sugarbush feels after an explosion inflicts deep burns over seventy percent of her body, condemning her to six excruciating months in the hospital, where her pleas to stop treatment are ignored.

Blind and horribly disfigured, she wishes only to end her wretched life as soon as possible. Starvation should push her ruined body over the edge—the doctors told her as much—which becomes her game plan.

I absolutely loved this book. It's unputdownable so make sure that when you start reading that there's no way that you're going to put down this book. I don't give out spoilers but it's one of the best books of 2018 in my opinion and one that you should pick up now. Today. Happy reading!

I can't say enough about how I loved this book! To me, a good story evokes feelings, and this story took me on a rollercoaster ride I did not expect. Not many books I would read a second time because there are just to many books out there to read...but this, this book is worth my time for a second read. So so very well written, I found myself lost in its pages.. You know the feeling when you look up and can't quite remember where you are you were so involved in the story. And the characters. I loved how they grew and developed as the story progressed. I would give this book a 20 star review..but guess a 5 star will have to do. Oh, and if you read it have your hankies ready and some water so you don't get dehydrated!!!!

This was such a hard hitting read, upsetting at times, but very well written. It was gripping, and so true to life. I felt deeply for Daisy and sympathised with her so often throughout this novel. I understood entirely why Daisy at first tried to make the choices that she did. How do any of us know how we would react to such traumatic physical, emotional and aesthetic personal changes? But she changed again, all due to the intervention and involvement of a therapist called Arthur. She wants only to leave this world and leave all her pain and suffering behind her but Arthur refuses to give up without a fight. This book is sad, but happy too. It shows the power that kindness. understanding and perseverance can have when they are especially needed. Daisy is a remarkable person and this is a remarkable story, one I won't forget in a hurry.
