I believe this is the guide I've been searching for to help get my coloring to the next level. I'd see gorgeous pictures online and be unable to replicate their results but this book helped me improve.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I really enjoyed reading Anywhere, Anytime Art: Colored Pencil by Cara Hanley. I found this book sweet, well Illustrated throughout with step-by-step great instructions and exercises you can do anywhere. Within this book you learn who to draw basic things and gives you step-by-step guidelines covering things you may see everyday, houseplants, cats, dogs, camper vans, to cityscapes etc. I found it made drawing easier especially when you add colour with your coloured pencils.
and how to used these correctly especially how to blend the coloured pencils to make different colours.
Its a book good for adults and children.
This book would be good to be used in a classroom for young children as well, I found it fun and easy to follow.

How long has it been since you colored with pencil? There are all kinds of pencils out there now - ones to use dry or wet (draw or paint), expensive and cheap versions with dense color or just a bit of pigment. Regardless of what level of equipment you have in your bag, take out those pencils and start to record what you see. Entertain your kids with the how-to illustrations - art made easy.
If you wish you could go back to high school and learn how to sketch and play around with colored pencils, you'll enjoy this book. It's like having a basic tutorial without the pressures of making perfect pictures.
Art should be fun. This will help make it so for you!
The Colored Pencil guide offers information on which materials to use, illustrates the different techniques, and introduces colour theory. The step-by-step exercises guide you through the different stages of colour pencil drawing, from the basic shape of an object to how to best colour it to add texture and dimension.
I especially liked the section on "Travel Sketching".
This guide is best suited for advanced beginners at drawing.
This colorful and creative book is well designed with perfect instructions. I don't know if I will become an artist after reading this book and having it as a resource, but I will become a better artist. It is going to be helpful. The book has helpful projects and process, which work very well for anyone wanting to draw and create artwork.
This book encourages you to pack up your coloured pencils and get outside to create art - but I do think that this book would be just as useful even if you were bed-ridden!
Hanley covers the basics – the materials needed, drawing methods, how to show light and shade. There are lovely little step-by-step tutorials, including, (at random) a potted cactus, an armchair and a pug.
The illustrations are delightful and have their own, not necessarily realistic, style. I like to imagine Hanley out and about , in cafes and parks, with her rucksack at her side, sketching a colourful scene. Perhaps I could do that too?
Which is what, I think, a good how-to book should do – inspire you into having a go. And as soon as I have a little time, I think I’ll try one of the step-by-steps. Today, a cactus in a pot; tomorrow, Kew botanical Gardens!
Step by step guides about how to use colouring pencils. The guides are easy enough for childen to follow and mature their skills using one of the earliest art gifts most people get, yet also in depth enough to expand adult skills to use the artform to it's full potential. Well worth a look for all ages.
