Encountering God’s Heart for You by Diane Stortz is a book of 365 devotions from Genesis to Revelations. Diane has taken the time and effort to pick out key verses from books in the Bible with the goal that we would learn to know God. Diane mentioned that she thinks it is important to read entire books of the Bible so that you can see the complete picture. So the devotions start at Genesis and take you through Revelations.
Each devotion is about the Bible, includes a prayer and life application for you to think through. For example on Day 4 she challenges those of us that love to plan to ensure we are aligning our plans with God’s and asking for His wisdom.
My sincere hope is that you will purchase Encountering God’ heart for You and that you join me on the journal through the full narrative of Scripture. You don’t have to wait for a new year. Reading the Bible can be a fresh start any day of the year.
Looking for a year-long devotional that will inspire you to read God's Word daily and yet help you to make sense of the big story of the Bible? Diane Stortz provides the perfect resource with her latest release, Encountering God's Heart for You: 365 Devotions from Genesis to Revelation. Each day's entry lists a chapter (or 2-3 chapters) to read from the Bible, a focus verse or two, and a short devotional thought, followed with a short prayer. While the reading plan won't have you read the entire Bible in a year, Stortz does do a great job of pulling together major passages that help the reader grasp how the whole Bible fits together into one big story line--God's story. In the process, Storz helps readers see how God has carefully orchestrated history in order to reveal His heart and His love for us -- and His desire to know us personally. Also, the devotionals and short prayers help readers to grasp how the truths in God's Word are applicable to everyday life. If you stick with Stortz for the entirety of the journey, you're guaranteed to meet God face to face and experience His heart for you as expressed in His living and breathing Word, the Bible. You can't go wrong with this devotional book if you're looking to understand more of God's Word and encounter Him personally.
Note: I received a copy of the book from the publisher in exchange fort his honest review.
Very nice devotional. I liked the way the devotional is presented and the message it sends. As a lover of devotionals, I put this one at the top of my list. Will be gifting this book. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest opinion. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on my review.
