This is the third great book in the 'Homeland Heroes' series. I was looking forward to this book and it did not disappoint! It can be read as a standalone as the information mostly doesn't depend on the previous books - although, I do feel that the ending would be less satisfying had you not read the previous books.

I do recommend this series - I have enjoyed it. With it's themes of trust and giving things to God, this book is a mix of suspense and romance. I read this book in virtually one sitting and would buy it if I didn't get free in exchange for an honest review.

HOURS TO KILL by SUSAN SLEEMAN is a fast paced romantic thriller that will take you on a real roller coaster ride!
In it the FBI Red team deal with gunrunning, kidnapping and child pornography, and Addison Leigh, agent and former member of the team, is attacked and loses her memory. She works hard at remembering and is determined to remember the members of the team, especially the good looking Mack Jordan who says they are married but have been separated.
Whilst is a story about the lengths to which wicked and unscrupulous people will go to satisfy their greed and desire for power, it is also a story about hope and second chances and of trusting God in all situations. I like the way Mack remembers God's promises in 2 Timothy 1 verse 7 which he repeats to give him courage and keep him centred - "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self=discipline."
It is an exciting and enjoyable read with a gripping story and great characters.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Bethany House Publishers. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

This is book 3. I read it as a stand-alone and you can too. The first 2 books characters are in this book and their stories, I’m sure, are referred to in this one but not necessary to read in order to enjoy this one. Written to follow both main characters, at times to see what happens during the same time frame. Fast paced at time and well developed. This is definitely not one of those quick reads that leave you wanting more. This one is one you won’t want to miss. I can’t wait to read her next book.

'His worse fear could very well play out in slow motion.'

Susan Sleeman brings her Homeland Heroes series to a close with this riveting third book and it's guaranteed to make your heart pound with excitement. Homeland Security Agent Addison Leigh is attacked and when her estranged husband, ICE Agent Mack Jordan is notified that she is in a coma, he rushes to her side. He allowed his past military PTSD to end their short marriage, but he has never stopped loving her. But Mack is stunned when he arrives at the hospital only to learn that Addy has no memory of their marriage. A second attempt on Addison's life soon plays out and Mack is determined to protect his wife at all costs.

Susan Sleeman is my go-to for inspirational suspense. She is always at the top of her game and never fails to ratchet up the suspense and give the reader a thrilling ride to a powerfully exciting conclusion. One thing I love about her books is the realness of each. She does her homework and her research is incredible. She always includes the nitty gritty of her professionals and their work, and readers learn so much about the subjects of her novels. I love that! She goes to great lengths to make sure we have the truth of her research. I know I am in for a fast-paced, adrenaline-laced thrilling ride when I read a Sleeman novel. I loved it! Highly recommended.

My thanks to Bethany House Publishers for a copy of this book via Net Galley. I received no compensation and the opinion in this review is entirely my own.

Book three in the Homeland Heroes series.

Addison Leigh (estranged wife of Mack Jordan and formerly part of the elite RED Team) is working to bust up a dangerous gun running ring when she is personally threatened - first her family, then her life. When the attack leaves her with a head injury that includes some memory loss, she is shocked to find out she is married...and, she also can't remember what lead she was pursuing when she was attacked.

US Marshal and elite RED Team member Mack Jordan still loves Addy desperately, but has been compelled to stay away after a particularly disturbing PTSD reaction that puts her in danger. When Mack finds out Addy is injured he rushes to her side, but is shocked when she doesn't know who he is. Eventually Addy's boss and the RED Team work together, both to keep Addy safe and to crack the case.

As this is the third book in the series you will likely find more enjoyment in reading them in order. I found them all enjoyable and easy to recommend.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers and NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Hours to Kill by Susan Sleeman is the final book in her Homeland Heroes trilogy. Out of the three novels, this one was definitely my favorite, though maybe it was in part due to my partiality toward the male protagonist, Mack Jordan. A Texas man with his cowboy boots and Southern drawl, I found him endearing and relatable from the first book, Seconds to Live. I rooted for him from day 1. Sleeman finally gave him the conclusion he deserved in Hours to Kill. This is a Christian romance novel, so I knew it'd have a "happily ever after" going into the book. Even with that, I still enjoyed Hours to Kill more than other books in the series.

Mack and Addy separated over a year ago. They've loved each other throughout the time apart but have never spoken of their affections. A madman threatens Addy's family, and the gunrunner is about to do something big. She needs Mack's help and that of his specialized RED Team. After a car "accident," Addison loses her memory--of the case, of the RED Team, and of Mack. All she knows is that she has to stop the gunrunner before it's too late...and something about Mack sets her heart aflame. What annoyed me most about this book's predecessor was that the romance seemed to trump a terrorist attack. With Hours to Kill, the relationship between Mack and Addy took a backseat. While they explored their affections for each other, they were both focused on stopping the bad guys from smuggling firearms into the United States.

Throughout the three novels, Sleeman hints toward how Hours to Kill is going to end. You read of characters' hopes and dreams, and you experience their frustrations in a heartbreaking kidnapping case going cold. The final book of the trilogy ties up loose ends, which I expected before even opening the cover. You don't lead up to something throughout an entire series, only to leave your readers hanging. Sleeman left me smiling at the conclusion of Hours to Kill. My shoulders rose and fell as I sighed, deeply satisfied. The plot was thought-provoking, the intensity palpable, and the relationship real.

Hours to Kill by Susan Sleeman, though, was imperfect. Again, I felt like she patronized me a little with her name-dropping. Not people, but techniques and technology. In the movie Get Smart with Anne Hathaway and Steve Carell, the characters constantly ask each other, "You don't have one of these?" in reference to fancy devices. Hours to Kill did something similar, and that got on my nerves. I didn't need to know of the complex doohickeys at the RED Team's disposal; just move on and let the characters do their jobs. Sleeman would also write things like, "Addy didn't need to explain to Mack that..." Great...I don't necessarily need you to spell it out to me, either. It's okay to generalize on occasion. Sometimes, Susan Sleeman would pay too much attention to the one leaf on this one tree and lose track of the surrounding forest.

I enjoyed Hours to Kill. It's the first book I've read in a while that had me saying, "Just one more chapter." I wouldn't put Susan Sleeman's work as high in quality as some of the other romantic suspense authors I've read like Patricia Bradley, Elizabeth Goddard, and Lynette Eason. If you want a quick, satisfying series with lessons on crime-fighting technological advancements, you should pick up Homeland Heroes. You may enjoy them, you may not. But, I do guarantee you'll be smiling after you read the final page.

A tightly plotted book that brings a satisfying conclusion to this series. So much is happening. Mini-guns ready to cross the border (think gatlin gunds). Drug lords wanting more. The three missing girls. A heroine who's lost her memory. And the RED team is back in action. A really enjoyable, page-turner.

Addy Leigh is living on the opposite coast of her estranged husband. This is not completely what she wants, but he feels that is necessary due to his PTSD. But their separation does not stop her from reaching out for his help and the help of his top team of agents. Before he arrives in town to help her, she meets up with an accident that puts her in the hospital. This raises the stakes of both the investigation and of their relationship.

What I liked ... Having another book with these Homeland Heroes was definitely satisfying. I really enjoyed the previous books featuring Sean and Kiley (as well as supporting character Cam), so having them back in a book that features Mack was great. These characters work well together - they definitely feel like a team.

I did like Addy and Mack's relationship. The unconditional love and commitment was evident. But I liked the fact that they were unsure about if they could continue to make their relationship work due to some previous conflict. They did not walk into getting back together again lightly.

One of the strongest parts of this story was how Mack was fighting his PTSD. Easy answers were not given. He understood his trigger points. He sought counsel. But then he also recognized that God could help with his healing. One verse was mentioned as key - he would quote it any time he was under duress. II Timothy 1:7 "For the Spirit of God does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline."

Cliches ... there are some major ones. To me, this almost detracted from the story. While the author tries to add new "twists," but I am not sure that was enough. They happened enough that it made me go back and forth on my rating. Ultimately I decided to give the book a 4.5 and round up on behalf of the author's efforts to write a compelling books. Susan Sleeman is definitely a prolific author who has written many books. I would imagine at certain points it might be challenging to keep the themes fresh and original. I do like this author, and I will read more of her books.

I did read this book as a part of NetGalley and was a provided a copy by the publisher. I have read the previous two Homeland Heroes books. I really wanted to review this book as I have enjoyed the series. Thankful for the opportunity to read this one and to let you know my opinions.

This was so intense and it drew me in from the first page. I didn't want to put it down, but the final page came too quickly.
These characters were so interesting felt so real.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

Very good story! Susan Sleeman has anchored herself to the top of my must read list, and every novel grips my attention from start to finish. Great to finally see the resolution to some continued story threads.

Hours to Kill by Susan Sleeman is a fast procedural story of the hunt for a stalker. From the first page, Sleeman takes readers for a ride with the suspense. The romance hints on the pages between the hero and the heroine. They had a past that took a while to come to the surface for the readers. As for the suspense, it was not a constant chase through to the end of the story. Instead, Sleeman takes readers for a ride as they watch the steps and the teamwork to solve the crime. She shows different aspects of the legal procedures and how many people it would take to solve the crime. When the story reached the climactic moment, it was definitely something different. Something readers would read in the newspaper, not in a fiction story. I enjoyed the aspect. Overall, Hours to Kill by Susan Sleeman keeps the reader guessing. I believe, if readers enjoyed, CSI or any other type of shows like this, then they might enjoy Hours to Kill by Susan Sleeman.

I received a complimentary copy of Hours to Kill by Susan Sleeman by Bethany House Publishers, but the opinions stated are all my own.

Agent Addy Leigh is on the trail of a brutal killer who is now running guns instead of drugs. Something big is about to happen and Addy's family is being threatened. Following up on a clue in the case Addy calls her estranged husband and leaves a message asking for his help. Unfortunately Addy is in an accident right after the call and has no recollection of calling Mack nor what the lead that she was following was. Can Mack and the Red team help Addy figure out what is going down before it is too late? And can Mack and Addy have a new start in their relationship?

HOURS TO KILL was exciting and intense. Not just the suspense, but the relationship between Addy and Mack. I loved both characters and was routing for them to succeed in their relationship. For those of us that were waiting to see the outcome of the Montgomery Three case that the Red Team has been working on we were not disappointed. While not front and center in HOURS TO KILL, it is finally wrapped up and lends excitement to the end of the story. I think this is the end of the Homeland Heroes books. I really enjoyed the Red Team and I'm looking forward to seeing what is next for author Susan Sleeman. I highly recommend HOURS TO KILL, especially if you have read the other two books in the series.

Another great book by Ms. Sleeman. In this book we get Mack's story of why he and his wife are separated. Plus a whole lot of suspense thrown in for good measure. When Addison wakes up in the hospital from a car accident, she doesn't remember anything about the case she had been working on or that she had been married. But there is Mack standing there claiming to be her husband. They race against time to try to figure out what Addison was working on. As bits of it come back to her, she realizes terrorists are about to attack.

This is a fast paced, action packed book. I highly recommend it. I was given this book by Bethany House Publishing in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

Hours to Kill by Susan Sleeman was a very exciting addition to her already fast-paced, adrenalin-pumping, and overall superb Homeland Heroes series. Hours to Kill focuses in on Mack Jordan, a member of the elite, yet often unknown high-profile RED team which hunts down and brings justice to criminals of various backgrounds. The descriptions of Mack in the previous two books in the Homeland Heroes series, present him as a hard-working, friendly, comedic, modern-day cowboy with a heart of gold and a troubled past. Mack as an ICE agent, member of the elite RED team, and a former military member has received bad reports, but nothing could prepare him for the phone call that his estranged wife is close to death at a hospital.
Mack never stopped loving his wife, but had let his past trauma from his time in the military break apart their marriage. Now, Mack can only focus on getting to Addy, determined to not let her down again. Mack wants to immediately track down the evil men who attacked her, but needs to see her first. However, when Mack arrives in her hospital room, he is horrified by Addy's reaction to him: Addy doesn't know who Mack is! Addy sees Mack as a complete stranger! After her accident, she has such severe trauma that she can't remember much of her former life.
Addison Leigh, or Addy, is a Homeland Security Agent working a huge case tracking down the smuggling of firearms into the states. With stakes so high in Addy's case, she is personally targeted by some nefarious members of the smuggling ring. Attacked, left for dead, and in a coma at a nearby hospital, Addy's emergency contacts (next of kin) are activated, leading her estranged husband Mack Jordan to be notified. Addy is stunned by her lack of memory, but trusts the evidence that Mack gives her to prove the does in fact know her, even though she doesn't recognize him. Soon Addy is threatened again, leading Mack to vow to protect her and track down those attacking Addy. What follows is a high-intensity adventure of Mack and Addy delving into the dangerous world of weapons smuggling. The plot is thick with unexpected twists and turns, leading to many dangerous and life-threatening situations. Will Addy and Mack be able to work together to prevent a huge cache of weapons from being smuggled into America? Can they prevent a major violent outburst against the nation? Can Mack and Addy resolve past hurts and struggles even with Addy's memory loss? Can they survive long enough to even consider what a future together might look like? Will they be able to track down Addy's attacker and bring him or her to justice? Pick up Hours to Kill and find out!
This is Ms. Sleeman's third book in her Homeland Heroes series and I have read and thoroughly enjoyed the entire series. The only problem I have found with these books is my inability to put them down until I have finished reading them! Oh well....I suppose there could be worse things ; ). I was impressed by the detail and background Ms. Sleeman gave to each of her characters, bringing them to life in her reader's eyes. Another aspect of this work that I enjoyed was the intriguing and complicated plot and struggles that the characters had to solve. I always enjoy such a fast-paced book and this was definitely a good read! I hope you have the chance to read and enjoy this book as much as I have! Happy readings!

Amazing plot in this book! I have read several by this author and even though there is the predictable love story, the danger and mystery and even the love story has some unexpected twists and turns. The characters in this book are the same as some of the author’s last books, but you don’t have to read them in sequential order. They will stand alone on their own.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my review, but I would have also spent money on it too.

Another gripping tale:
What a great romantic suspense! It was the 3rd and final book in the Homeland Heroes series. Whilst not necessarily imperative to have read the previous books, it will grant you further insight into the different team members and the larger investigation into the missing girls. Furthermore I'd recommend reading them fairly close together as it was a while in-between for me and I found I'd forgotten a lot of the details.
I enjoyed finally being able to find out more about broody Mack and my heart went out to him. It was also lovely meeting his estranged wife and I was really rooting for things to work out for them.
I enjoyed the investigative aspects of the book and was kept guessing by the many twists and turns. There was also a nice Christian message about truly relying on and trusting in God and I really liked seeing the characters put their faiths to work.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

Hours to Kill is the third book in Susan Sleeman‘s Homeland Heroes series. When FBI Special Agent Addison Leigh is attacked, her estranged husband and RED Team member, Deputy U.S. Marshal Mack Jordan races to her side.

Addy never wanted to leave Mack, at least, that’s what people tell her. Now she can’t remember him, his team, or the investigation that likely caused her car accident. Mack, on the other hand, remembers exactly why he ended their marriage: his PTSD-related nightmares, one of which caused him to hurt Addy. Never would he put her in a position for him – or anyone else – to hurt her again.

Ever since book one, I’ve been looking forward to Mack’s story. He’s a cowboy-turned Night Stalker-turned U.S. Marshal. A big softy who used to work fugitive apprehension. We’ve seen glimpses of his estranged wife, but getting to know her in this story, it is easy to love her, too. She’s strong and caring, even when her memories make her feel like a stranger to the people she used to trust with her life.

Hours to Kill may be the third book, but it is enough of a stand alone that you can read it without having read the series. However, the other books are great, too, and I think reading them in order will provide a deeper appreciation for this story.

If you’re looking for a suspenseful story, pick up a copy of Hours to Kill. It’s a unique romance that will give you all the feels while making your heart race as Mack and Addy battle against a deadly countdown.

This is book 3 in the Homeland Heroes Series. I believe this is a stand alone book, however you do miss some history of the RED team. You do not have to read book one, Seconds to Live, or book two, Minutes to Die, to understand this book, however you would miss two good reads. I always look forward to anything by this author. Susan Sleeman packs her books full of action, mystery, suspense, friendship and romance. She does a lot of research and her dialogue between characters really brings her characters to life. Mark Jordan and Addison Leigh have history and sparks. When Addy needs help she must turn to her estranged husband, Mack Jordan. Addy finds herself in an accident and can not remember what she is investigating or her marriage to Mack. Mack will stop at nothing to save Addy, will they have a second chance at love or will their past keep them apart? I was given a copy of this novel for my honest review.

I have truly enjoyed this series, but I have to confess , this book was my all time favorite of the three Homeland Heroes.
This story belongs to Addison/Addy Leigh and Mack Jordan.
Addy is a Homeland Security Agent who is attacked in the middle of her investigation. Mack , an ICE agent, is Abby’s estranged husband. A man that has not stopped loving Abby .
Though they were no longer together, she still had him as her emergency contact. When she’s attacked, losing some memory as well, he was immediately at her side determined to do anything and everything to keep her safe .
From the first page to the last, you will be on the edge of your seats. The action is non-stop, one filled with bad guys, as well as really great ones, especially in the form of Mack.
It’s also a story about relationships, hope, trust in God and realizing that one needs to do everything one can to keep that someone special close to your hearts.
Another winner in a riveting series.

Story Notes

Susan Sleeman offers up another non-stop story in her Homeland Heroes series that focuses on Mack Jordan and his estranged wife, Homeland Agent Addison Leigh.

How apropos on this St. Patty’s Day that I am reviewing a green covered book that features a guy named Mack! This was a good story with lots of action, angst, inability to forgive oneself and a love that never died. Addie Leigh is a Federal Agent working to take down a firearms smuggling ring working the dark web to find and distribute their product. But while she knew they were powerful and dangerous, she never thought they might target her to keep their cover. Viciously attacked and left in a coma, Addie is about find herself in a room with the one man she’s never been able to forget – her husband Mack, US Marshal and member of the elite Red team. Receiving a call telling him that Addie has been badly injured throws Mack’s world into a tailspin. They’ve been separated for a few years but she hadn’t removed him as next of kin on her files. Desperate to ensure her safety, Mack is at her side as soon as he can hop a plane. There’s only one problem – when Addie wakes, she doesn’t remember Mack or their marriage. Now they must contend with the danger to Addie’s life and to their hearts. But Mack is still determined to keep Addie safe, especially from himself given that he still suffers from PTSD from his years as a Night Stalker. So he and the Red Team offer their resources to help take down the smugglers and ensure Addie stays safe. As Addie begins to remember their years together, she isn’t sure she’s ready to work with Mack in such close quarters again but needs the Red Team if she wants to solve this case. Her heart still belongs to Mack, even if he says otherwise, and she’s determined to make him face his demons and sort out their relationship. The case will have to be solved first and the culprits caught if they are to have any chance at a future together. However, those in charge of the smuggling ring are willing to do whatever it takes to ensure their future in the industry, and no one will be allowed to stand in their way – not even a determined agent with a talent for trouble. There was so much to unpack in this story and it was all handled so well. We finally get to understand Mack and why he and Addie split. His stubborn way of keeping her at arm’s length made me want to give him a Gibb’s slab to the back of the head but I was glad to see he was trying to work through his past and find his balance again. And Addie trying so hard to get him to let her in while also trying to recall her past with him was a great plot point. All the needed information to figure out the people behind everything going on was only doled out in small doses so it was hard to make a solid guess until the end – something Ms. Sleeman is very good at in her writing. I loved getting to see a bit more of the other members on the Red Team too as I love the banter that goes on between them. Another plus was the conclusion of the Montgomery Three case that has haunted the team for years – I was so glad to see that solved. One of the best parts of this story and this series has been seeing “behind the curtain” of how these elite agencies work. While I’m sure it’s not specific to any current team at work, there was plenty of description of the type of work done and dedication these agents have to taking down those profiting off the suffering of others. I will certainly be recommending this story and the series to others in the hope that they will enjoy this journey of action and love as well. Very much looking forward to the next story in the series – we need to know what happens with the remaining members of the Red Team!!

The Homeland Heroes series comes to a close with another action packed book. I enjoyed reading Mack and Addy's story; a story of faith, love, and second chances. I appreciated how well the team worked together throughout the entire series. If you love a good inspirational suspense, I recommend this book.

Y'all the Red team is back!!!This book did not disappoint I really like that the team is back and fighting for the good of the US. I loved Addy she was a fighter and no matter what she faced she did it with gumption and head on, never taking her own safety into thought just wanting to protect those she cares for. I liked Mack but my heart also broke for him I could never imagine loving someone so much to have to let them "go" and not having them love you back even for a short time. Mack faced so much but he also was a fighter and he was a leader that everyone seem to respect. I don't think there was a character of the good guys that I didn't like this in book, it was nice to catch up with Sean, Kiley and Cam. I liked Harris she was a tough person but got the job done. I really hope this is not the last of this series and there is more to come. I just can't seem to get enough. I liked that author kept this book clean and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

This book caps off a wonderful romantic suspense series featuring the RED team made up of elite members from various federal law enforcement agencies. The suspense story involves attempted murder and gunrunning using high tech means of getting the weapons across the border. The romantic story line is unique as it involves an already-married couple. The wife however has no memory of her husband following a car accident that was an attempt on her life. Her husband, a key member of the RED team, must balance the personal issues inherent in the case, his PTSD from his previous life as an Army Night Stalker, and his need to maintain a professional demeanor as a Deputy U.S. Marshal. Hours to Kill lives up to Sleeman's reputation as a skilled writer in this genre. I give it five stars.

So good! What a great ending to this series! Action-packed, romance, can't put it down kind of story (as you may be able to tell, since I read it in one day!). I had never read anything by Susan Sleeman before this series, but I will definitely read more of hers!!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance e-copy of this book! The opinions are entirely my own. I will definitely be spreading the word about this book series!!

Homeland Security Agent Addison Leigh is working on a case and realizes that she needs the help of her old ICE team, the RED team. Her estranged husband, ICE Agent Mack Jordan, is part of the team. She sends him a message and then is involved in an accident. This is an action packed story that keeps you riveted. This is the third book in this series. I have enjoyed the entire series. The characters are interesting and there is much to learn in the way they do their investigations.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

I’m a fan of Susan Sleeman’s romantic suspense, but the Homeland Heroes series has to be hands down my favorite. I love the interaction between government agencies as they save the country from terrorists and all sorts of evil.

Hours to Kill is book three in the series. You could probably read as a standalone, but books 1 and 2 give more back story on some of the other members of the elite Red team. This team consists of several different law enforcement agencies that have highly specialized skills. This story focuses on Homeland Security agent Addison Leigh. She’s about to break her case wide open, but has a car accident and can’t remember pieces of her life. Big pieces, like her estranged husband and Red team member Mack Jordan. Mack wanted to win her back, but now she doesn’t even recognize him. They also are running out of time to stop gun runners from smuggling assault weapons into the country.

I love the interaction between Addy and Mack. It’s as if he has to make her fall in love with him all over again. The plot is fact-paced with plenty life-and-death scenarios to take a reader’s breath away. Be sure to check out the whole series for some fantastic suspense!

Overall Rating:
5 stars (I loved it, couldn’t put it down)

Suspense Rating:
5 stars (Non-stop edge-of-your-seat suspense from start to finish)

Another winner has arrived.
When an accident brings Addy and Mack together after a year and a half apart, could this be their second chance?
There are only a few things standing in the way—
Addy doesn’t remember Mack, her accident may not have been an accident, and he’s still struggling with PTSD.
What had Addy been working on that’s put everything at risk? As clues pile up, danger is around every corner, and Addy is in the crosshairs. Mack wonders if she will remember before time runs out. The bigger question, will she remember him?
This story is full of suspense, and carries threads of faith, love, and friendship in the midst of trouble. I loved it!

Someone wants to stop Homeland Security Agent Addison Leigh from discovering something, and he’ll go to any lengths to make her back off. First, he threatens her elderly mother at knifepoint, and then he threatens Addy’s life.

Only she can’t remember anything. Addy can’t remember her investigation, nor the man who stole her phone after her car wreck, nor why she called Mack Jordan of the RED team to help her.

And now Mack Jordan has shown up in her hospital room claiming to be her husband. Addy doesn’t know who she can trust.

Mack Jordon misses a phone call while on an op to find three missing teenage girls. Girls the RED team has spent hours searching for over the past year. When the op ends in disappointment, once again, he finds out his estranged wife, Addy, had a favor to ask him. And then he gets a phone call from a hospital notifying him Addy has been in a wreck and has a traumatic brain injury.

He drops everything to rush to Addy’s side. Only when he arrives and she wakes up, she doesn’t remember him.

How can he protect the woman he still loves and help her figure out who wants her dead if the hospital staff won’t even let him in her room? Because despite their separation, Mack still loves Addy.

The third in Sleeman’s Homeland Heroes series, readers finally find out why Mack and Addy separated. Although part of a series, readers can enjoy this book on its own. Sleeman keeps readers turning pages with her fast-paced scenes. Addy’s amnesia adds intrigue and interest as well as an interesting romantic plot—can married people fall in love with each other if one of them has forgotten the marriage?

Homeland Security Agent Addison Leigh is about to crack open a cyber investigation into a firearms smuggling ring. But as she gets close to cracking the case, Addison is attacked and left for dead.

Addy’s estranged husband, ICE Agent Mack Jordan gets a surprise phone call that his wife is in the hospital in a coma. Mack had let his military past come between them in the past, but Addison never gave up on Mack. Mack hurries to the west coast to be with Addison, but when he arrives, he’s in for a shock.

When Addison wakes, she has no recollection of who Mack is. She also doesn’t remember the case she was working on, or what happened to cause her accident.

Another attempt on her life is made, and Addison and Mack realize they are in for a crazy ride. Can Addy get her memory back? Will they stop the smuggling ring in time? And what about Addison and Mack’s relationship – will they find their way back to each other?

My Thoughts
Hours to Kill is the third installment in Susan Sleeman’s Homeland Heroes Series. By now I feel like the RED team are good friends. These stories are action-packed, and filled with twists and turns. It feels like once I start these books, I can hardly put them down. In fact, I put down several other books to read this book in all my spare time.

One of the things I appreciate most about Sleeman’s writing is how detail-filled it is. I feel like I can count on her to write a story that will keep me guessing. Her stories are intricately plotted, and I appreciate the details that she weaves throughout the story.

While this story can stand alone, I love that we got to see the ending of a storyline that has been pulled throughout all three of the novels in this series. I’m also really hoping Sleeman comes back and writes Cam’s story (the 4th member of the RED team).

“And with each passing hour, it could mean those guns could be delivered to a man who clearly has no respect for life, and people will die.”

A suspected gunrunner, hours until stopping a shipment, and an unknown assailant bring Mack and the RED team together when his estranged wife is attacked. As Addy tries to regain her memories of her recent experiences, the stress of working with Mack keeps things interesting.

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”

“God gave Mack and the team the skills they needed to safely transport Addy. And God gave Mack the ability to hold off any flashbacks. He could do this. He really could.”

I have to say, I loved Mack throughout the series and couldn’t wait for his story. I enjoyed seeing into his heart and the tough US Marshall’s attitude. His struggles with PTSD were very real and I loved how he not only leaned on God, but took care of himself. Addy’s tough personality was really softened as she healed. I really enjoyed seeing her weaknesses toward Mack and the slow burn of their relationship was beautiful.

This was by far my favorite book of the series. Though, it is a series, I do believe it could be read as a standalone. Sleeman did an excellent job tying up the loose ends of the series, too.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Hours to Kill was written by Susan Sleeman, and is book three in the Homeland Heroes series. It is not necessary to have read the previous books in order to read this one.

Summary: Homeland Security Agent Addison Leigh has built a successful career for herself. And, she is so close to cracking open her biggest case ever. Except…the bad guys can see her coming and a hit is put out on her life.

When Addison awakens in the hospital, she remembers nothing. Even more disconcerting, a strange man claiming to be her estranged husband, won’t leave her side.

What is going on, and will she get any memories back in time to stop the dangerous criminals trying to kill her?

My Thoughts: I liked this book. It was very exciting, there was plenty of action, and it was really interesting to follow Addison’s journey throughout the story.

There is a great plot, likable characters, and lots of exciting twists and turns.

It is a fun read, and I would definitely recommend it.

I would like to thank Bethany House for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased review. Thank you!

I thoroughly enjoyed this series and only wish I could read more of her books! Mack and Addy's story I knew would be interesting and I was not disappointed! One of the more fascinating things about these kinds of books is the niches one learns about. I have learned about unique law enforcement jobs, crazy technologies, and all sorts of things that I otherwise would never have learned about. This time it was undersea cables and miniguns! The what3words app was neat too.

While I am not like Mack in any way, I found his struggle personable and very relatable. One never wants to hurt someone they love and if you have no control over yourself, that's a scary thing. But we can't make decisions for other people at the same time.

The memory issue was an interesting twist. I would not say it was resolved satisfactorily but it was not badly done either.

I enjoyed reading about the RED team again. They work so well together but there is a camaraderie about them that comes out even as they are serious and professional. I wish there was a fourth book about Cam!!! Bear's contributions were so sweet and he was a welcome element. There is a VERY happy ending for a side plot and it made me so glad!!!!

I enjoyed this romantic suspense. It's the third in a series and is best appreciated if the earlier books are read first. The agents from the various federal agencies have a history and have formed relationships in earlier novels seen in this one.

This novel starts off with an interesting twist in that ICE Agent Leigh suffers a trauma and experiences selective memory loss. She cannot remember what case she was working on. She doesn't remember calling her estranged husband asking for his team's help or that she was even married to him. Yet she remembers who she works for and people from her office. Her husband, ICE Agent Jordan, is notified of her trauma and flies into Portland from the east coast. Their reunion doesn't go so well.

Some of the plot centers around trying to reconstruct the case she was working on. I found it odd that Leigh, investigating a human trafficker and gunrunner, had left her office in a rush without telling anyone where she had gone. Of course, trauma happens. I wondered at the wisdom of such an agent's actions and if they would even have such independence.

The reason Leigh and her husband were separated was because of his PTSD and his attacking her as he was waking from a nightmare. I found it interesting he was still the team leader of the elite group of agents. Granted, he was getting counseling but it seemed a bit unrealistic to me.

There is lots of suspense in the novel. There are also lots of the latest gadgets the team uses. I was dismayed to find out that devices connecting one to the Internet can be hacked to gather information like listening to conversations. There is also a bit of romance as Leigh again falls for the husband she doesn't remember.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

“For the Spirit God gave us
does not make us timid,
but gives us power,
love and self-discipline.”
II Timothy 1:7 (NIV)

That was Mack’s verse. He had learned to rely on it as he worked with a Christian counselor on the issues surrounding his PTSD from his time in the Middle East. It had almost allowed him to kill his wife, Agent Leigh Jordan, after a nightmare - they broke up over that incident. Now he had to work with her.

Normally stationed in Washington DC, the attempt on his wife’s life brought him to Portland to track down the person responsible - a drug runner, a gun runner, and a sex trafficker. The RED Team of the US Marshals Service followed suit. And Bear, the retired police dog, added a new twist to this faith-based thriller.

A fast paced story that travels from Alabama to Oregon to California takes a number of unexpected twists and turns keeping this reader up late. The book includes all the tension of Criminal Minds and all the romance of Bones, providing an entertaining story with lots of excitement. I give the book four stars.

Hours to Kill is the third book in the latest explosive series by Susan Sleeman. You don’t have to read the books in order but I always recommend that you do.
The RED team is fascinating with their skills and teamwork. This is Mack’s story and we learn why he and his wife are estranged. Mack deals with PTSD and he felt that it was detrimental to their marriage. I loved how he had a verse that he used when he would be triggered.
When he gets a call that Addy is in the hospital he immediately goes to her bedside.

Addy works for Homeland Security and Mack and the RED team come in to help her when she is attacked.

Susan delivers a fast-paced story with a strong, lovable ensemble cast and a sweet, helping of romance. I recommend.

Addison Leigh, Homeland Security Agent, received a video of her Mom being held hostage in her home, as an agent Addy knows there are inherent dangers to her job but when that danger spreads to family that is not something she can tolerate. While tracking down a lead on her own, she ends up in an car accident and is knocked out, when she wakes up she has no memory of the accident or what she was working on. It is amazing she has any memory at all and that she did not sustain any other serious injuries. Right before the accident occurred she had left a message for her husband, her estranged husband, that she needs help from one of his team members and figured she should ask him first since it is his team. Deputy Marshall Mack Jordan has been working on a case involving missing girls that are being trafficked, as he exits the house he gets a phone call from an ER nurse that he is still listed as her emergency contact and she was in a car accident that left her with a head injury and he should come as soon as he can. He hung up and caught a flight. He has no way of knowing, but he is praying that maybe he and Addy can get back to be friends and go from there. He still loves her. Hours to Kill is a story of forgiveness and faith and feels like you are on the journey with them. This has been a fast paced story that I have thoroughly enjoyed reading. Thank you for allowing me to participate.

What a ride! I can always count on Susan Sleeman to write a book that makes my heart beat like crazy! I also love a series where each book is focused on one of the Team but moves forward in an overall story. This book combines Homeland Security, Cyber Crime, ICE Agents, some romance and faith! I highly recommend this book and series.

I received a complimentary ARC of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the Author and Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.

The third and final book in the Homeland Heroe's series focuses on ICE Agent Mack Jordan another member of the RED Team. He and his wife, Homeland Security Agent Addison Leigh, are separated due to his PTSD; but when Addy is injured in an attack during an investigation, Mack and the RED team rush to her side to come to her aid. They find themselves with only hours to find a terrorist group who is trying to access a new assault weapon that will kill hundreds within seconds.

Mack has been such a strong, gentle, cowboy giant through this entire series, and I was so happy to read his story this time. He still loves Addy with all his heart; but due to her amensia from her accident, he knows he has to tread easy when it comes to trying to get together with Addy. His strong nature was to always surge forward on his own while trying to capture this group of terrorists. Yet he constantly reminded himself that God was the one who was truly in control.

Throw in the other members of the RED Team with their past histories in books 1 and 2, along with a loveable, overgrown dog named Bear, and this was a perfect ending to this excellent series of suspense novels.

This is an excellent addition to the Homeland Heroes series. I loved it! Addy finally finds a thread to pull in her investigation when she is attacked and loses her memory. She can't remember what case she was working on and certainly doesn't remember the man in the room who says he's her husband.

This book is an adrenaline ride. It's fascinating being inside the elite Red team and learning about their advanced tools and gadgets. It's satisfying seeing some closure as villains are brought to justice. It's exciting as the clock races towards an ultimate showdown. I love the team dynamics and hope there's another book about Cam.

While you could read this as a standalone book, do yourself a favor and get the whole series. Thank you to Bethany House for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

This was a great way to round out the series! I've been wanting to spend more time with Mack and Addison from day one. Sleeman did a remarkable job of building anticipation and keeping us guessing at every turn. I think the memory loss worked for the story line and allowed the reconciliation of their relationship to occur. I personally wish she would have gotten more of her memory back, but I accept how it all played out. Sleeman did a really great job at navigating the delicacies of the relationship. It was believable and not over done. I really enjoyed the journey with the RED team and the unique personalities of each character. My one disappointment was how quickly the overall (three book) storyline wrapped up. I felt like it was more of an afterthought in this book vs being more integrated in the story like the first two. All in all, I'd recommend this entire series to my friends.

Sleeman has created another great read in this Hours to Kill (Homeland Heroes Book #3) This book has it all mystery, suspense, excitement, action and also romance and learning to trust God that He can take care of the situations that were faced. Although the heroine has amnesia from an accident that was supposed to take her life, she still feels attracted to her ex-husband whom she does not remember nor does she remember being married. As Addy and Mack team up and race against time to find who is selling illegal guns and assault weapons. Can they be stopped before many lives are lost. A terrifying journey against time as they try to keep the crime lord from killing hundreds of people. Through it all and through loyal friends, Addy and Mack discover a lot about themselves and forgiveness. If you love action, suspense, and intrigue, then I highly recommend this book……

My thoughts: this third book in the series stands alone the fans will want to read the first two books. The action takes us from coast to coast north or south east to west and one doesn't know where it's going to end up. You think you know who's behind it, and you do, but there are a lot of twists and turns and surprises along the way. The ending is kind of rushed in my opinion. I was kind of hoping for a fourth book in the series, but I don't think that's going to happen. If you like romantic suspense with a lot of surprises and a lot of technical information, and cyber crimes, you will want to read Susan Sleemans romantic suspense. Highly recommended. I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own.

Hours to Kill is the 3rd book in the Homeland Heroes series by Susan Sleeman. ICE agent Mack Jordan receives a phone call that his estranged wife Homeland Security agent Addison Leigh has been in a horrible accident and has amnesia. He quickly learns that Addison was not in an accident but a target of a sinister and dangerous plot. Sleeman takes the reader on a wide ride and ties up loose ends from the other books. Highly recommend this series!

Hours To Kill is the third book in the Homeland Heroes series by Susan Sleeman. While the primary case in this story can be enjoyed on it's own, there is another case that has been playing out in the background throughout the series. As such, while I think it would make sense as a standalone too, I do believe readers will get the most out of the series by reading in order.

If you're looking for a book filled with action, this is certainly it. The action starts early on and doesn't let up throughout, holding me in the story to see what was going to happen next. I did feel like perhaps things were a little more technical that I cared for in a few places and it slowed down the action... but I found myself on the edge of my seat nonetheless. I am always a fan of second chance romances so seeing Addy and Mack's reconnection was definitely a highlight of the story. I appreciated that it gave a look at PTSD in a very real way as well.

Overall, a good read and one that fans of romantic suspense are sure to enjoy.

It's clear that something sinister is definitely going on! Homeland Security Agent Addison Leigh is attacked and left for dead as she was getting too close to the truth on the case she was working. Her estranged husband, ICE Agent Mack Jordan is called in as her emergency contact and finds she has no memory. This case moves fast and danger comes from every direction. Mack has to protect Addison and finds getting all the facts and finding those responsible is a totally consuming problem for everyone involved. Homeland Security and Ice, interesting to see how these agency's worked together.

Hours to Kill was a nice conclusion to this trilogy companion novel series.

We follow Abby and Mark with Abby being the main character. Abby has been working on a case where a drug runner is now involved in guns and is trying to take them over the Canadian border possibly or give them to a homegrown terrorist group. She ends up having to call for help as it is a very involved case especially once it gets personal as the bad guy (Bruno) and his right-hand man Zamoro have now threatened Abby's mom.

Mack and the rest of team Red show up to help out which ends up being the best thing as Abby ends up injured and struggles to piece things together that she was working on before her accident. This case has Abby and Mack traveling in order to stop the guns and to try and figure out who is doing what and how many people know about it before the guns get into the hands of the wrong people.

Overall I enjoyed this ending and seeing the team for one last time. It was nice to see characters from the other books again and to see how they were doing now. It was also nice to see a real answer to the Montgomery case and to have answers for it after hearing about it throughout the first two books constantly. Abby and Mack were two characters that worked well together despite their past feelings and all they needed to work through. They put the case first and dealt with the other stuff on the side which was good as they had very limited time to get it all figured out. When it came to the more religious parts of this book they were subtle once again and know preaching happened thankfully. I prefer religion to be thrown in like it was in this book if it's going to be involved, as it is a personal thing and should be kept that way when dealing with these types of situations.

I am considering reading more by this author in the future as I have enjoyed these last two books immensely.

I am reviewing a copy of Hours to Kill through Bethany House Publishers and Netgalley:

Right as as Homeland Security Agent Addison Leigh reaches the pinnacle of her cyber investigation into a firearms smuggling ring, she's attacked and left for dead. ICE Agent Mack Jordan, her estranged husband is notified that she's at the hospital in a coma. Despite the fact that he let his past military trauma ruin their short marriage, but she never gave up on their relationship, and he remains her next of kin.

After being notified of what happened to Addison, Mack rushes to her bedside and he promises to hunt down the man who attacked her. Mack failed her once when he bailed on their marriage, and he's not about to let her down again. But after she wakes up in the hospital, she remembers neither the attack nor ever being married to Mack. And when a second attempt to take her life is made, it's clear something very sinister is going on, and Mack and Addison are in for the ride of their lives.

I give Hours to Kill five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!
